She wanted to know when I was going to get old enough to not have to do that anymore....
I'm 51 and have never missed a year without firecrackers.
Up until this year, I had never missed a year coloring Easter eggs....I didn't do it this year and it kinda felt like a part of me died.
I WILL color eggs next year, and probably with some kind of insane fervor to make up for this year...
I WILL keep my pumpkin carving record in tact...
And on Christmas eve I WILL go outside and look in the sky for a sleigh and 8 tiny Donk...er...reindeer.
You young guys...never feel embarrased about things like that, especially if kids are involved, and never give them up when the kids get older.
Use to take the kids out on christmas eve to look for Santa...then they got older and said "dad..we know"...and I would just smile and go out without them....eventually they would come out....now their 19 and 22 and don't come out, but i bet when their alone or nobodys looking they take a peek. And I'm pretty sure when they have kids they will do what dumbass ol dad did..and I hope when they are 51 they still do the dumb crap I do.
Life is much more fun/interesting when you believe in bunnys, elves, ufo's, bigfoot, ghosts and whatnot.
That's all I have to say about that...nearly had nostalgia flowing out of my .... there for a minute...

Nah, you guys..didn't mean it in an even jocular negative towards you. It's like one minute you guys duck behind a couch, change outfits and then *BAM!* you pop up. Not used to seeing Keg have an avatar and Hawk's is just..just amazing! I have been so used to the washed out hawk eye.

I will have to say though, Hawk..those were probably the most innocent, down to earth, real, heart-filled words I have ever heard/seen from you, period. If I was standing next to you right now, I would give you a hug!

Just got parked and found our spot to watch the fireworks, and caught up on the nostalgia.
Me and kiddo are parked and it will probably be an hour after the fireworks are over before we are able to exit downtown omaha.....but she is happy, so I am happy.

Re-read my post. I said I believe in everything (in a list format) EXCEPT for ghosts. Turn up your belltone! Geesh! Lol..ghosts..well without going into some spiritual, religious, spectral debate..I have yet to have seen any concrete, tangible evidence to sway my thoughts anywhere close to sure. I have always been interested in finding out more about them. Ghost tours, overnight stays at "extremely haunted" locations, etc. High def audio/video capture devices, NV..nada. You ask my dad about it, he will give you a very different take. I, myself, dunno. Can't rule out anything scientific, dunno if me being a stubborn SOB shuts off my mind to it, or the opposite. I may just not be that weak minded to allow that to expose itself in my mind..couldn't say for sure other than just the fact that at this point, I don't believe in em.
Up untill last year we would go to my Wifes ex-stepmoms who lives at 13th and Frederick...right across I -80 from ronsenblatt. To be able to get in there and find a place to park yadda yadda, we had to be there like at 2 in the afternoon.
Game at whatever...dark then fireworks and no chance of moving for 2 or 3 hours..
Fun...but not 12 hours of fun every year.
It got too much for her stepmom to do and last year she quit doing it....YIPPEEEE.....
