I get so confused when trying to figure out what works with what...... can you suggest some tanks to go with this? I don't know what I'm looking for other then 22mm diameter tanks.

Your tanks and clearomizers you already have will "work" on it, as will many others. However, your Evods and possibly your Zenith (if it's the full size 4mL version) aren't the same 22mm diameter as the CF Mod. With the Evods and clearos there will be a gap at the top, between the silver metal piece and the clearo or Evod. With the Zenith (if it's 4mL) there will be a slight overhang all the way around. If that's OK with you, they'll be fine. Innokin does make 2 Zenith tank versions that are 22mm though, so there'd be no overhang. One is a 2mL D22 that's quite a bit shorter and has a 2mL capacity, and the other is a 3mL D22 that's taller and has a 3mL capacity.

I could be wrong, but I thought most Chinese mods made from around 2017 on use OLED displays.

Here's a rather high res pic of 2 Pico mods. The top one is about 4 years in use and the bottom one is about 10 days in use. Both have arctic fox with screen brightness set the same. About half the pixels on the top one have gone really dim while all of them seem to be dim to varrying degrees. But none are completely dead that I can see.

I have no idea if these are OLED or regular LED. Also I have no idea what caused the dimming but it may be from use, not time (or a little of both?). I have opened the mod up a couple times and see nothing like juice on the board or anything. Been dim like this for about a year.

nx2DzRW.jpg

Regardless of any tendency for OLED screens to degrade over time there seems to be a particular problem with the screens on the Pico 75. I have the fading problem on several of mine but not on any of my other mods, and it seems to be widespread.

Thanks! The Nautilus 2 are 22mm so I hope those should work with the Aspire CF . The Zenith and Zslide are both 24 mm. (Not sure why I ordered the 22mm but as long as I can use them no biggie I guess.)

One thing though, from what I am reading the Aspire CF is resistance of 0.3-1.0 ohm. I would just have to order a stock of atomizers in that range for using the Nautilis 2 tanks on the Aspire CF. and I would be set. (All the replacement atomizer I ordered are above 1.0 for use with the Aegis solo.)

my order came today! I actually really like the Aegis Solo!! The size is not near as big/bulky as I was expecting. A bit heavy but not as bad as I thought it would be. Definitely going to move ahead and get one more with more tanks and atomizers for it!

Great to Hear!

Yep! I'm dreading it. Plus I'm scared of the replaceable battery mods and their batteries! :danger:
I'm the opposite; I'm more of internal batteries. With external I am in control of their condition and can readily see in the charger if they are waning.

This Aspire forum thread reveals that the 0.3-1.0 ohm spec isn't really a spec, it's what Aspire recommends for the target market for that mod (mid to higher wattage vapers). About halfway down the page someone (aspire rep???) says that you can in fact use a higher resistance coil on the mod but that it may not be "ideal".

Quote:
"You can still use the CF Mod with a Nautilus but with a 1.6 ohm Nautilus coil you would only be at 11 watts which is far from ideal for performance."

Understand that this mod was released at a time when cloud-chasing, subohm clearomizers were all the rage and many Chinese manufacturer's seemed to only cater to that crowd at the time, thinking all vapers are all the same and wanted warm/hot clouds and cloud chucking setups. lol.

Today, on most mods, actual resistance ranges are publicized so that people can decide for themselves how and if they can use a specific mod (which is the way it should be).

So I say you're OK in ordering the CF mod and using your 1+ resistance coils on it and it will work as you prefer/expect. Ohms law still applies, therefore you will get the wattage output you prefer/expect. But you can just order one and check it out for yourself, since it's only $5. If that site has other things you know you want and can use, even better, so as to distribute the cost of shipping to each item making the shipping cost more or less negligible (or maybe even free?).

If that site doesn't have anything else you're willing to order, maybe someone can post links to other sites selling the CF Mod for the same price so that you can see if maybe those other sites have other products you want? I did a quick check and could not find anyone else selling it for $4.99 or less in the USA.

I've been using an Aegis Solo pretty consistently for over a year and love it. Mine has been ultra reliable. I did hear of a friends wife dropping one on a hard floor and pretty much destroying it but that is the only problem I have really heard of with this mod. In my book it is a good choice.

Thank you! Yes at the price they are at right now I'm going to order some for sure, and there is indeed more things I want to order that I can get at the same site.

Several posts have mentioned OLED displays degrading on mods when not in use. I have searched as thoroughly as i am able to find any information in regards this.
I found none. The only mention of small OLED screens degrading is when they are subjected to water or oxygen ingress between the layers of the laminate. Large OLED screens (like TVs) do gradually become dimmer with use but there is no information anywhere in regards the smaller unused screens found on mods...

I saw the Same thing with regards to Water/Moister.

And that is No Surprise for Many who have had a Leaking 510 Connector.

Yep...your Nautilus 2 at 22mm will be a smooth transition from the mod to your tank...no gap and no overhang. You can easily use the Zenith and Zlide tanks on your Aegis Solo mods. I use my full-size Zenith with 1.6ohm Z-Coil on 1 of mine. Fits fine on it, and your Zlide should, too. It provides a great vape, at your usual wattage, IMO.

One thing though, from what I am reading the Aspire CF is resistance of 0.3-1.0 ohm. You don't need Nautilus 2 coils in that 0.3ohm-1.0ohm range. The Aspire CF Mod with an 18650 battery in it won't have a problem with a coil above 1ohm. My neighbor used to use tanks on his with a 1.5 or 1.6ohm coil in them, with no problem. He's very knowledgeable about ohms of resistance, wattage ranges, not putting stress on batteries, etc. and is a Tootle Puffer, too (vapes at a lower wattage, with above 1ohm coils.)

One thing you might not know about the CF Mod though, is that with a single 18650 battery in it and a 22mm or 24mm tank on it... it'll be about as heavy and as tall as the Aegis Solo with 1 on it. So, if you're wanting a tube mod that's similar in weight to the KangerTech 1000mAh stick batteries...the Aspire CF won't fit that bill. If you don't mind the weight and size...I'd go for it.

Awesome! Everything is coming together! Thanks to everyone here and all the info they have shared and advice you all have given me. I'm feeling much more relaxed and confident about this big switch! (big step for me anyway) Phase one is *almost* done (purchasing all my mod vaping gear) and in the near future I move onto phase two and three. Learning how to mix my own juice and learning about battery safety. I have the nicotine already so I'm not in a huge hurry with learning the other two. (I have a good stock of purchased ejuice for a while yet.) My brain needs a bit of a rest once I order the last of my mod stuff this coming week.

Have you figured out how much you'll need for as long as you plan to vape...and bought that much?

Also - Here's a link to 1 of the other US vendors selling the Aspire CF Mod for $4.99. You need to register in order for the pricing to show up on their website. Also, they sell to regular customers, too, not just wholesale to shops. I've ordered many times from them with no problems at all.

Aspire CF MOD 18650

They're also the vendor who has THE best price on the Z-coils for your Zenith and Zlide tanks @ only $6.10/box of 5. (Their picture and name shows Zenith, but Innokin changed the name and KangerWholesale just hasn't changed the pic nor the header to show the new box and name yet. The coils are all now called Z-Coils and that's what you'd get for sure. If your total order is $75 or more....you get fast, FREE S/H, too!

Innokin Zenith Replacement Coil - 5PK

They also have the Aegis Solos in stock, AND on Sale for only $26.99!

GeekVape Aegis Solo Box Mod

Oops! Forgot to tell you they also have the same Kanger Evod 1000mAh USB Passthrough Batteries as EcigMafia does. Remember, this place sells wholesale, too, to other vendors. ;) However, they're cheaper here...at only $6.84 each. The pic doesn't show the screw off silver metal cap on the bottom, but...they're identical to those EcigMafia sells. I bought some from both places within a week because 1 didn't have 1 of the colors I wanted.

Kanger eVod 1000mAh USB Battery

You could get all 4 things, from just the 1 place...and save some S/H.

...learning about battery safety

For you, at your level of wattage and resistance (you are likely pulling less than 5 amps when you're vaping), and the fact that you aren't using fully mechanical mods, there's not a whole lot of battery safety for you to learn. Everything is common sense.

If you stick with the batteries in the 2rd and 3rd columns in the chart below, you won't have to worry about exceeding Amp limits. (I would forget about using the 1st 2 batteries actually - the Sanyo NCR18650GS and the LG MJ1).

At your amp draw, VTC5 is good but VTC6 will give you a little longer runtime (as will Samsung 30Q and LG HG2) with no worry about exceeding amp limit.

Other than amp limits, your major concerns will be:
  • The wrap on the battery - inspect the wraps often and if you see a rip, tear or anything else not perfect about a wrap, do not use it or charge it - you need to replace the wrap first. Never unwrap the battery until you are ready to rewrap it.

  • Battery transport & storage - never store a battery in your pocket or purse or anywhere else not intended for battery to be used/stored. Use battery storage cases made of plastic or other non-conductive material for transport and storage. Do not store in a hot environment (like a hot car in summer).

  • Charging - try your best not to charge the batteries unattended & use a reputable brand battery charger.

  • Reputable retailers - buy from reputable battery retailers so as to significantly reduce your chances of getting fakes. These are the most popular, reputable stores vapers seem to buy from and recommended by Mooch (the resident battery geek)
TMI? No matter, just come back here 3 months from now ;)

I think I'm good on nic. I used a formula I found on here back in September and have enough for 15 years with the nic strength I vape now. Only 3 mg currently. (Down from 24 when I first started vaping 8 years ago) And I plan to work my way down to 1 mg so I will have more than the 15 years worth. I probably have too much

I already ordered the Aspire CF MODS from ecigmafia yesterday. They were the same price. I also ordered some more coils at the same time........ but still need more. That is an awesome price for the Aegis Solo!!! Thank you!

Well heck! This was a LOT easier then how I did it back in September!! But it did confirm what I came up with the other way

I used this from a post I had read on here:

“To calculate how much nicotine you will need this is how you do it.

take the # of mls you vape each day and multiply by the strength ( mgs) of liquid that you use. Once you have that total, multiply by 365. Now you know how many mgs of nicotine you need for each year.

Next, figure out what strength of nicotine that you want to buy. Most people buy it by the liter ( 1000 mls) multiply the strength that you are buying by 1000 ( mls) that will give you the mgs in each liter of nicotine.

Last, use the total number of nicotine in each liter and divide it by the number of mgs that you use each year. That will tell you how long 1 liter will last you.”
