Yes, people bash and lash out at those things that are unknown. Its quite absurd and ridiculous. There are just WAY to many close minded people in this world who think that ANYTHING new must be horrible. They are stuck in the ruts of their life which they have created and fall deeper into everyday. It is a shame that people bash with no knowledge, but this is the fight we must fight, this is the fight we must win!!!

Yes, there are people who actually feel better about themselves when they can openly disdain other people. I am sure smokers aren't the only ones whom they feel free to spout there ignorant opionions on.
Just keep educating them on the benefits of vaping compared to cigarettes for both us and them. Then tell them to take their battle against smoking where it belongs with the tobacco Companies.

As for children buying them I wonder what ages are they talking about? Because of candy flavors? Are these children 8 years old who can afford expensive candy. Where will they get the money, especially to purchase online. What kid has a charge card or a paypal account? (perhaps it is obvious I don't have kids)
Some teens may pick it up but I doubt they would have the money or dedication needed to maintain this habit compared to cigarettes. Does anyone know someone who was a non smoker who took up e-cigs? I know nicotine is addictive but I think it takes time for the full smoking or vaping addiction to take place.

Calling it an e-cigarette was probably a mistake because of the negative connection. Someone wasn't thinking of branding when they named the thing.

My real concern is that the nicotine is going to be the weak point. Currently be shipped without warnings on labels, bottles are not childproofed, and of course enough testing has not been performed as of yet.
It is odd though that you can purchase nicotine replacement patches and use them however you want even if incorrectly. I saw a bunch of them locked up in a case at Long's Drugstore today and underneath another bunch stocked on an open shelf. I checked and they weren't empty shell sample boxes. It must be okay because they have a warning label and are sealed in a thin plastic wrap.

One last thought towards all those negative ignorant comment makers "People who live in glass houses should not throw stones"

They have candy and fruity flavored drinks, those aren't banned. Strawberry dacquiri anyone? I'm really surpised at the level of hate, I'm pretty skeptical like I was with E-ciggs, once I googled around I started warming up. Now I'm thinking of ways to make my own liquid and atomizers to up the system. Screw the FDA.

There are far worse things than death. Life has no survivors, that's a fact. After six years of formal psychology education, I am convinced that happiness (joy, bliss), a solid sense of social support, and a great sense of humor are far more potent weapons against disease than the addition/elimination of any particular chemical or particulate from our existence. I do recall several of my professors stressing the greatest contributing factor to cancer was...fear of cancer (death, illness). It is believed that 99% of disease is psychological in origin. Health or illness comes about through far more complex processes than simple, measurable equations. Living organisms are complex and sophisticated creatures; life never exists in a vacuum.

My experience in botany has proven to me that a plant that is strong, robust, and vital does not succumb to disease, insects or molds. Stress that plant over time (insufficient light, too much or too little water) and the protective "coating" weakens and breaks. Insects and disease appear seemingly out of thin air. Were they there all along without the opportunity to penetrate the plant?

Most significant of all, my experience with meditation has shown me that the suspension of worry, concern with minutiae, and constant striving to live up to some internal or external standard of acceptability brings immediate alleviation of physical symptoms and complete rejuvenation of health and vitality.

A few quotes come to mind: "There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, Than are dreamt of in your philosophy." ~Hamlet, Shakespeare
and "It's a half an inch of water and you think you're gonna drown. That's the way that the world goes 'round" ~John Prine

Lastly, "I'll sleep when I'm dead" ~Warren Zevon

I have been smoking for over 40 years. I have tried to quit so may times I can't count them all. The main reason I failed was weight gain. Everyone said that the weight gain would stop but it didn't. I don't want to die with lung cancer but I don't want to be burried in a piano case either. This is the first time I really got any help. I can puff and not have the urge to stuff my face with chocolate. My daughter is using an e cig without nicotine. She already quit but was fighting the temptation to start again. I think of this as a smokers binky. I don't think this is a bad thing at all. I would start sucking my thumb if I thought it would keep me off the cigarettes.
They have never tried to ban the sale of cigarettes to adults. They just try to ban us using them and tax us to death when we buy them. They can't figure out how to tax these yet I guess. They really don't want us to quit. Imagine the lost $$$.
I am still smoking some analog (less than 10 per day) but very little compared to 2 to 3 packs per day. I ordered some stronger juice. My first order was medium. Maybe that will get me to totally smoke free.
I can take my mini to the restroom at work and no one knows a thing. I bet if I pulled it out in front of a bunch of non smokers someone would have a panick attack.

.

Welcome Stormy - Cutting out almost 30 cigarettes a day is HUGE and you should be thrilled with yourself!

Never underestimate what you have done thus far! It took me one week to go from a pack a day to 4-6 and then another 5 months before I was off the analogues all together. It wasn't until I went up in nic level and started dripping that I was able to really make the switch. After three months, I am now down to alternating a low and a zero and will hopefully be completely at zero here by the end of the week. I have no plans to quit smoking my ecig. :0)

Liz - Hello neighbor! I am in Indy too :)

You and me both, man. Personally, I'd rather have cancer than suffer obesity. In the end, I do realize it all comes down to willpower...and in this I am a bit lacking. So, I pick the cancer. Obesity is also more than a cosmetic type issue...it also has its fair share of health consequences.
Budget wise - you eat more you spend more on food. You smoke - you spend on smokes. Ultimately, I suppose it's all the same whichever you choose to do when you lack willpower.

Maybe my chemical dependency has something to do with the fact that my folks had me on prescribed meds from age 6 to about age 22. I don't know. I do not blame them or anyone else. Ultimately, it is my decision.
I choose to smoke. Hope to vape - given my ecig gets here.

People just need something to be ...... about. E-cigarettes are just another outlet for the unhappy, the unsatisfied, the righteous and the bored. Their arguments are paper-thin - I'd love to witness a real debate over e-cigarettes.

Other than lack of testing, what could their argument be? No second-hand smoke, no tar, no carcinogens, no tobacco... there just isn't anything bad to say, so they use fear-mongering to garner public support.

Stormy, I was a 2 to 3 pack a day guy myself. I don't know how long you've been using e-cigs, but there is a learning curve involved. I couldn't quite get enough at first using med carts and quickly ordered some 24 mg e-juice. After a week the 24 mg gives me a nicotine headache, so I only use it first thing in the am for that "gotta have a cig" feeling and use medium strength the rest of the time. Hang in there, it'll get better!
