Tbob, I think i read that piece of research also. The worry and stress can cause us problems. They both mess with you immunity and when that goes down you get all kinds of things including cancer (according too some reserch).

So, I am going to follow your advise and kick back and enjoy my live to the fullist till it's over. My husband and I have decided that we have reached the point in our lives that we can be frivlous and so we are going to have fun, if it kills us.

Unfortunately I am never sure what to believe......I have read tucked away very small headline news reports of studies that say cancer rates are still 'rising' despite the fact that 'less' people are smoking....We are inundated daily with warnings that passive smoking KILLS...... Yet in a very small print article I once read that in very large study of thousands of non smokers who have lived their whole lives with a smoker there was NO statistical difference in their cancer rates to non smokers who have lived their whole life with another non-smoker...I just don't think we ever get the 'truth' properly presented.

In response to the above, I personally believe and argument can be made for anything somebody to wants to support, good or bad, thorough or flawed, and argument can be made in support of anything. Possibilities and circumstances are by definition infinite and can never be really calculated with complete certainty. I believe based on common sense, intuition, inner knowing, and the latest developments in quantum science. That any observation is always tainted by the person observing and their expected response. A conclusion that calls into question the entire scientific method and puts in on par with the spiritual art of manifestation.

In a nutshell, seek and you shall find. All of the negative connotations put around cigarettes for years have finally caught up with us. We as humans in this particular era in our evolution are only beginning to realize that what we think and believe becomes our reality and that we are always creating (sometimes things we don't even desire).

I for one am happy we have e-cigarettes and am greatfull to the Universe, God, and Ruyan (sp) for having given us such a gift and will enjoy it for what it is a healthier alternative to something enjoyed my many and villified by many. Now we can have all of our benefit and none of the guilt. For all the people that criticize, put it in perspective for them by letting them know everybody is addicted to something. Judgement, being conservative, love, sex, money, ego, righteousness, spirituallity, etc. can all become addictions if not respected and practiced with a balance.

I vote for/with you . Numerousone. If you get rabid or fanantic about anything and don't respects others right to have a different thoughts, you need to stop and get a grip on yourself. I personaly don't want to be any one's nanny. People have the god given right to be stupid/smart or else every one would think a like and be super smart or super stupid..

This is non-cancer related, but both of my parents quit cold turkey when they were in the 45-50 range. Both experienced declining health pretty shortly afterward. My dad was in the early stages of MS anyway, and my mom started a terrible cycle of thyroid issues, fibromyalgia, rheumatoid arthritis, chronic fatigue, etc.

I'm sure it was just timing/coincidence, but I think after so many years of hearing all the anti-stuff (You'll feel so much better if you quit, bla bla) they must have felt kinda bitter.

MikeMac, there was a funny cartoon in the paper today about how the younger generation will get revenge on the older generation for leaving them such a crappy world. They'll invent all sorts of life-extending procedures and we older folks will end up in nursing homes, wired to machines and with tubes in every body orifice -- just living on and on and on. Revenge.

I am smart enough to know that I cannot get out of the world alive. I will have to diie from somthing, I just want a good quality of life while I live.

If I smoke analogs the doctors will try to blame everything on them and I will die not form the analogs themselves but form the foolish of our rabid society. To be real plain: THE ANALOG MAY OR MAY NOT KILL ME BUT THE DOCTORS WILL BECAUSE I SMOKE ANALOGS..

Guess what goes on my death certificate: "SHE DIED FROM SMOKING ANALOGS".

You are so right, Pete. Cigarettes have been demonized beyond all science and/or common sense. The shout of "cigarettes kill" is never spoken as "cigarettes might kill". But that's truer. Consider that "50% of smokers die of a smoking-related illness." Duh, that means 50% don't.

I don't believe a word of the anti-smoking BS, not to this very day. (I smoked for 28.5 years until I started e-smoking 2-3 weeks back.) It's not denial on my part. It's not rose colored glasses. I just never get sick because being sick really gets on my nerves and I have no time for it. Therefore, I CAN'T believe a word of all the anti-smoking BS. I take NOT A WORD of it seriously.

I've written before that one of my cousins smoked 4 packs a day for 50 years. He quit. He celebrated his 90th birthday last month. Another smoked 2 packs a day for 50 years. He's 87.

About 17 years ago, I roller bladed 50 miles a week. This was while smoking 2.5 packs a day. Hell, I would skate 3-5 miles, have a couples of smokes, then skate ten more. I did that for 3 years.

About 7 years ago, I was climbing a local mountain 3 times a week. It wasn't a big one, being only 1700 feet high, but the last third of the way up was a 45 degree angle. I was smoking a pack and a half a day for the 3-4 years I did that.

This time last year, I began working out with weights, but speed walking 2 miles on the days I wasn't lifting weights. I was smoking about a pack and a half a day and still managed to walk the two miles (while carrying 25 pounds of weights in dumb bells) in less than 25 minutes.

So excuse me but, were there some studies done or did some people used to say smoking destroyed your health?

I wouldn't recommend anyone smoke cigarettes, but I've quit demonizing them by condemning every smoker to ultimate death by smoke. It just ain't so.

If we believe smoking will kill us, I believe our minds will create that reality for us.

Look at the population today. See anything wrong. How about obesity? Another topic, though, and I won't go there.

The government won't go there either. Why attack the 66% of the population that is obese, when the 20% who smoke are in the minority?

Truer words were never spoken.

I forgive easily. I could forgive the stigma. I could forgive being made to stand in the cold 25ft from any air intake. I could forgive higher insurance premiums. I could *even* forgive $6/pack cigarettes.

I will NEVER forgive the brainwashing that makes me wonder 15x a day if I have cancer yet.

I'm undoing that brain damage day by day... but the "do-gooders" have done far more damage to the human race than any cigarette smoker.

Well, I'd say that there is no doubt that burning is bad for you - and that includes food too - barbecues etc. So much is a matter of hidden weaknesses. We are much ike those atomisers - we may live long or might not. What may not affect one will affect another. What is for sure is that we all will die sooner or later. So the question is did we make the most of our time here, and give all the love that we could - for that's how we live on. No doubt to me that stress is the biggest killer. Be happy, don't fret, see the good side and love life ...

Exactly, ALL of life is a risk and there are no guarantees, no matter what you do. Any time you get in your car to drive to work, you have no guarantee you will ever arrive at work alive. Cars can be far DEADLIER than cigs are claimed to be, and kill far faster than cigs are claimed to do. But you don't hear any antis going on about THAT risk, do you?

What is for sure is that we all will die sooner or later.

I look at my body as a car. Do you trade your car in with 0 miles on it & in pristine condition? Of course not. You trade it in when it is used up and worn out and you have gotten every mile out of it that you can.

My GF was showing someone how her e-cig worked at a local bowling alley. Some old lady told her about she saw a news story that basically said that the liquid in e-cigs causes problems with your throat. I really wish I was there so I could have a discussion with the lady. But people take everything they hear and if it comes from a news agency then it must be true. I was pretty upset for quite a while.

This response would have set the old girl back a bit.

GF: Well yes that is true. It does make it deeper, but so far my BF loves it.

The thing these people love is the fact that they won the battle of smoking in public. The got what they wanted, they don't care about the health of smokers, or even their own health. It's the fact that they won.

With vaping they feel like we are getting around any bans, and are enjoying ourselves again. They can't have that. They want us hidden, out in the cold.
