Looking for suggestions for a small pocket-able mod with the following characteristics (in order of priority). Probably a tube mod because box mods look ridiculous with carto tanks.

Well crafted
True 3.7+ or 5v
Compatible with small carto/tank (ie Buzz m1a1 1")
No inconvenient button placement for tank compatibility
Flat endcaps with recessed 510 connection so that it can merge fairly seamlessly with tank.
Small as possible
Under $100

I have looked at such things as the Alpha, but they don't even give dimensions or pictures that show its size on the website.

Hmm, they may be taking mini one step further than I was thinking. They don't say anything about voltage. I think I want something that packs a little more punch than that is likely too, although I am making assumptions. Would look pretty goofy with a carto tank and I don't think I would like the auto battery. I don't think it needs to be reduced quite that much to be readily pocket-able. With that said I may pick up one just to stash as a backup when I'm out and about.

If your budget where to stretch a bit further I would suggest a GG Stealth.

Its a bit over your price range but.

It is true 3.7
compatible with anything that has a 510 connector
convenient button placement
flat and recessed end-cap
small (fits in the palm of your hand)

Also

It is all mechanical and pocket friendly
beautifully made and finished.
very very robust.
very expandable ( to start with it takes a 18350 but if you add a telescope tube it can take a 18500 or with a top cap a 18650 or 2x18350's or CR123

Stealth looks nice, but since it is out of stock I don't have to decide if it is worth the price.

Mako Mido also looks great, and out of stock, and they don't have the price listed.
Mako Minno is even smaller, and out of stock, and no price listed.
The Megalodon (Don) looks pretty impressive, and compact in the smaller configuration, and available @ $124 ouch! Even at that price I might seriously consider it. I would like to see a picture with a carto tank on it.

I am totally baffled that the item descriptions in all these cases do not include such fundamental information as the dimensions of the product. This is doubly puzzling since the compact size is one of the primary selling features.

I totally agree! If I was a supplier, I'd not only list dimensions (and of course price!) but I'd put up pictures of it with various carto, atty, tanks, etc. so that people could see not only the size but also how it looks. They don't have to be professionally shot "beauty" pics, just some everyday-Joe pics! Heck, a supplier at SOME point should have at least a handful of a pv in-stock, so take that opportunity to take a pic of a few with different attys/carts/tanks side-by-side! (same goes for any different configuration such as longer/short battery) Then prospective buyers could see what they look like prior to making a purchasing decision.

Does anyone have any experience with the Precise? It comes in 3 different form factors, and they actually give the precise (pun intended, lol) dimensions. The 16340 version is almost exactly the same diameter of typical carto-tanks, as close as I can measure and is under 3" long. In fact, the Precise with M1A1 tank and driptip should be about the same length and diameter of just the body of my IPro. Pricy but looks like it maybe worth it. $140 bare bones/$180 kit.

I've wanted a Precise for quite a while now, and some day I WILL own one! I've heard nothing but rave reviews of them and my limited experiences with Super-T have been top-notch. So in my slightly educated opinion, if you've got the budget, you can't do better (different maybe, but not better) than a precise.

Given your requisties in the OP, I'd have to say the Don meets them all (except for slightly exceeding your price). Really nice and tiny in mini mode, with an 18350 battery, but still allows for an 18650 battery, or a 5v battery, when you're willing to have something a bit bigger in your hand.

I bought the more expensive SS version, but then sold it as it was too heavy for me, but only to immediately turn around to get the aluminum version. I almost always use it in mini mode, and tanks work fine with it.

I was at ENS on my way to lunch, and they had a couple of makos in the display case. They are like $75. Might want to shoot them an e-mail or phone call.

Did someone say Precise, this lil P-5 is a nice set up especially with the new Gotvapes Stone Tank, just a super vape, they do have the smaller precise which takes the 18350 as well but in my opinion the 18500 is just a better batt and last longer and there isnt that much difference in the two as for size, but there all nice units.

For a mini mod I would have to suggest the GLV supermini.
I know one of your requirements was to take a tank without
awkward button placement, but with a short 510/510 adapter,
a std size tank fits on the GLV with no problem.
I use a GLV2 because I want better batt life, but I started with
the mini and it was very pocket friendly, not to mention it is a
    rock solid mod.

Many of the suggestions such as boxes and the GLV are surely good devices but I'm looking for something with clean lines when mated with a tank that both has a streamlined look as well as no unnecessary angles to catch on the fabric when I stick it in my pocket. I have a VV that I use at home, but want a nice device to carry around.

The Don and Precise are exactly what I'm looking for except for the price. Unfortunately I'm not seeing anything that catches my eye for less, I might end up coughing up the extra dough if I must. Of the two, I think I like the Precise. The Don has a taper at the end that probably makes it smaller than the diameter of a tank. Since they don't want to publish the dimensions for whatever reason, they probably get eliminated simply off an assumption which is their own stupid fault. The Precise costs more, but once I start spending that much $20 or whatever isn't going to make a difference. I'm still hoping to find another option that falls at a more reasonable price range. Although I hard to find anything attractive when compared to these two.

The Mako Minno is a possibility, if one could be found.

    Still looking.........

IMO Precise plus 16340 is the way to go. Its more expensive, which turned me off at first, but i do not regret purchasing it one bit. Clean lines, perfect match to a small carto tank, bottom locking button, and lifetime warranty. The only downside to the 16340 is battiry life, but i get 4-6 hrs from it no problem with dc cartos. Here is a pic next to an eGo 650 with boge carto:
