Hey everyone,

Long story short. I have 4 MVP 2's, an I taste VV V3, 2 egos. I have 2 IGO-L's, 10 iClear 16's, 4 iClear 30's, a PT2 + mini and tons of coils for all of them. I get great vapes out of all my gear. I really enjoy vaping and I love the hobby aspect of it but one thing I have not done yet is purchased a mech mod.

I have two thoughts about this.

1) I don't sub-ohm vape, I've done my research on it and I know the laws but I still just don't think it's for me.
2) I am in and out of my house all of the time and I fear that if I have a mech I will be leaving batteries on chargers accidentally or that some type of (rare) problem will happen and I either will/won't be around.

So my question to you guys is if I constantly vape 1.5-2.0 on my devices I currently have would purchasing a mech mod improve anything? Would I take a hit off one and say "wow" this is amazing.

Thanks for any input!

Yes you should buy a mech. Get one as soon as you possibly can.

Get a Nitecore Intellicharger, it stops charging when the battery is fully charged.

Since you don't vape sub-ohm get an RBA, perhaps an RSST, and just sit in on your desk where you can see it, and contemplate it from time to time. Get some 400 SS mesh, and some 28 kanthal to sit near it, and just leave them all there where you can see them....

heheheeee...

Well, it is all dependent on the wattage output you desire(which results in coil heat). If you want to vape anything below 15 watts than any variable voltage/wattage device that is half way decent will do the job. Anything higher would need a more advanced APV (ie DNA 20) to be able to go up to 20 watts. Anything more than that would need a mechanical mod with a good battery (and charger).

Having the option to use a mech mod is a personal choice. Charging safety should be a concern for all. If you are using cartos and interchangeable head models I would stick with VV.

I use Russian 91% with a micro coil and it ohms out to about 1.2 ohms. I use it on my provari even though I have 3 other mechanicals on my desk. I came from vaping genesis style atties and now truely only use my Russian.

The trouble with mechs is that you have to strike a balance. If you build a coil too low, you burn juice. Too high and you get a weak vape. so shooting for middle ground is key.

Where this matters to you vaping 1.5 - 2.0 ohms coils is that most people enjoy a vape from around 3.7-4.2 volts at that ohm rating. With a mech you will get a nice warm satisfying vape when the batts are fresh. It will remain so for til the battery starts to drop below 3.9v and then the vape will peter off and the vape will die with it.

People go sub ohm so that no matter the juice in the battery it hits good the whole way through to the end of the battery at 3.4v .

My advice: If you want something nice with interchangeable batteries get a proivari. it will serve your vv taste and move you into a device that you will simply never replace.

iD SAY no, YOU ARENT GOING TO SAY WOW.. Unless you are making coils at about 1 ohm.. Save your money..

Thanks for a detailed response, and thank you to the others that responded as well. Is the charger that turns off when the batteries are fully charged a concern to users? Is it safe to leave batteries on the device while I leave the house?

Thanks again

If you get a mech mod, get a re-buildable atty (RBA). It will allow you to tailor your coil to what you are looking for. Going for lower ohms will give you more warmth and flavor. Once you find your sweet spot, you will say "wow" this is amazing. An ohm meter is a must though. I vape between 0.8 and 1.0 ohms and it is awesome. I don't sub ohm vape because I am not chasing clouds.

As for leaving batteries on a charger, I have been using the same mech mod with AW IMR 18650 batteries for 3 years now. I have always left a battery on the trustfire charger 24/7 so that I always have one ready to go. The charger has auto shutoff for over charge protection when the battery is full so no issues with leaving the house. It is no different than leaving your cell phone or laptop charging while you are gone.

You good sir clearly dont know how to
Subohm the right way
I am atm using a 0,35ohm dual coil and i do NOT burn my juice... I get a nice vape full of flavor and TONS of it... I get a cleaner flavor from this coil than i ever did with my protank at 1,8-2,5 ohm or my aga-t+ with a 1-2 ohm coil

If you go low in ohms you just gotta know how to make a good wick

And that applies to all liquids, i use 100% vg with NO problems at all

I struggle with the complete opposite question. I own 5 mechs and i like using them. Recently I started vaping at a higher resistance as cloud chasing is starting to lose it's novelty. With a mech you need added levels of safety since you dont have the built in safety feature you have with your VV/VW devices. First of all being good batteries' I've probably said this more than anything, but it's the truth, batteries are your weakest link in a mechanical device. Buy good ones (quality) and dont let $$ be an issue. Second buy an ohm meter (this may not apply since you have VV devices with one built in). Obviously you want to be able to check resistance. Last but not least is knowledge, amps, resistance, voltage - you have to know how they work and be able to interpret how they are affecting your vape. good luck!!

I'll say this about that.

I found a new hobby when I found vaping. There was only so far I could go wrapping new coils for my Kangers and my ViviNovas. Getting into mechs and rebuildables has allowed my to broaden my hobby exponentially, and that is a big part of why I vape.

It's not for everyone, but if you're curious, you can certainly get into it for not a lot of money - a cheap clone mech, a couple of high drain batteries, a couple of inexpensive drippers, some Kanthal, you're still probably under $100. If you find you're not that into it, you can always re-sell what you don't want in the Classified sub-forum. Folks here are always on the lookout for gear.

I have to agree. The lowest I've gone so far is 0.5 ohms, but yes, when you get it right, it is oh-so-GOOD!

Just any mech?...NO. Buy a NEMESIS!!! kidding, although, they are my favorite mechs. I love mechs and I love my ProVaris. I also love my Reo Grand. The variety just makes vaping more fun. If you like to read, study, tinker....go for it. If you don't, keep screwing protanks on an MVP and vape. The hobby aspect is really a huge bonus to the bottom line...which is no smoking.
