I had a negative experience recently from a vendor ( not saying who) and I would like opinions on whether my expectations are accurate or way off base....being newer at this I'm not sure if my reaction is warranted or not. Here is my situation....

I have been ordering heavily and referring many other new vapers to a particular vendor. I really liked several of their e-juice flavors so after buying smaller bottles at first I ordered 3 30 ml bottles. I received them and all 3 bottles had VERY muted taste..barely any flavor at all.
I contacted the vendor to ask if anyone else complained and to make them aware of the issue. They responded in a timely manner saying that they had been trying new products in their mixing and they were sorry that I received juices that were not flavorful and that they would make sure that future orders were better quality.

Now my question is should I be upset that they didn't offer to replace my bad juice or in this product world is it a risk you take when purchasing juice?

My decision was to find another vendor that provided comparable juices and to move my juice purchases to the new vendor.

Would you have done the same?

Juices are a tough call - everyone's tastes are a bit different so on one hand, yes, getting a muted flavor is possible. However, and more importantly IMO, is that if they openly told you that they've been "trying new products in their mixing" and sold you what you thought was the same as the previous product, thereby using you as a quality control guinea pig, then yes I would expect they, refund my money. I haven't had the same problem with juice, but I did have the same problem with a spice shop in Colorado that just "up-and-changed" a particular blend with no indication on their site. They did refund my money.

Given that I DIY and buy ready-to-vape stuff, I might be inclined to be more lenient...

HOWEVER, if they've been selling a particular recipe that you've already had, you do have reason to expect something nearly identical to your last order. For example, there's nothing wrong with their trying out TPA Banana instead of Capella's Banana for their mixing, but doing that with a product that has been sold before is slightly misguided in my opinion UNLESS they make some notation on that product listing to say that the recipe has changed slightly and may be different than what you've experienced before. That's not just polite, it's a wise move to avoid your customers getting out of sorts.

I sort of understand their position since everyone's taste in juice is different, you may be vaping it on different hardware than last time for all they know, and juices in larger batches may need more time before they're flavours come through.

Their position would be more defensible if they hadn't admitted to fiddling with the recipe though.

Yes I would. If I was the vendor I would replace it. Considering you are a repeat customer. It's their fault they are trying new crap they should of taste tested it first.

I would only accept replacement if it were for the original blend though... otherwise - refund and another vendor if they plan to stick with their new/muted mixture. What's the point of replacing with the same thing that they changed and was sub par in your opinion?

That was my thoughts exactly. I had an order for more gear sitting with them too...they could have easily put replacement juice in for me. I have easily sent over $2,000 of business their way in the last 2 months. Now I'm sure that isn't a huge amount of their total sales but it warrants at least good customer service.

Agreed with the above. If it were a new juice I'm trying that I just didn't like, my bad.

It isn't. I wouldn't appreciate being used as a guinea pig for a remix on the flavor myself. At the very least they should note the change on the page in large, impossible to miss print.

Poor judgement on that vendors part to do the right thing in part by telling you they had switched flavorings and would make sure future orders were better quality and then fall short by not offering to send you new juice to replace the poorly flavored juice you had just purchased. :(

Yes, I expect better judgement from the vendors I deal with and would move on to other vendors.

They stated that they had tried something new in their mixes and apologized for not testing it. They were going back to their original product and would make sure that my future orders of juice would be better quality.
Now why would I order more and take the risk? Replace the bad product with new and prove to me that its worth buying again.

I understand that taste is subjective which can make vendors hesitant to appease everyone. But I clearly stated to them that I was vaping with the same gear.
And I truly am not a complainer at all but this juice had almost zero flavor and I had ordered several times prior....not the same juice at all or a steeping issue.

There ya go then... I too would accept a replacement. And if it is what you are expecting, then I'd cut 'em some slack and continue doing business with them. GL

I would attempt to get them to replace at least one of the bottles at their expense as a gesture of good will, and a promise of better quality products in the future. It IS their mistake, and VERY misleading of them to not inform their customers of changes to the formula of juices you may have come to love. I would be very disappointed.

If it was my business; I'd tell you I'm greatly sorry, and I would have given you 100% credit in my store. Also would say, let them steep a couple weeks, and try again, you might like it then. But that would not have changed the fact you get how much ever you spent on those juices back as credit.

I would not expect all batches to be identical, but I would expect them to be reasonably close.

I guess I would not expect the product to be replaced, unless it was unfit to vape.

I suppose that I make my own partly because of these views, but even then, I've found that flavoring batches vary sometimes. At least I can compensate on the next batch, though.

Two bottles still sit in my vape box and one bottle I slowly mixed with a similar flavor from another vendor so it wasn't a complete waste of money :(
DIY is starting to look like a necessary choice

You had ordered a larger quantity based on the taste of the sample and they changed their product without telling anybody? Then they admit they had tried something new and just say "sorry, we'll do better in the future".

Yes, I would have done the same. Sorry to hear that this happened to you.
