Should I get a mechanical mod?

Right now I'm getting my feet wet on my provari. I have an igo-l that I have been paying with for nearly a week now and I'm really enjoying it. I have built a handful of 1.8 to 2.3 coils and running anywhere from 4.2-4.6 volts on them. So far this is a large step up from my carto tank setup I was using. Now my questions are

1. What's the benefit of a mech if you still use standard ohm coils?

2. What's the difference in taste between a standard setup and say a 1 ohm coil?

3. Anything else that can help me decide if I should or should not get a mech?



I know ppl will tell me to buy a cheap mech to try it out but if in going to do it I may as well get something nice out of the box. Can always resell it on the classifieds if need.

This is my opinion, others may disagree:
There will be no difference for standard resistance coils. 1 ohm or less coils will provide a more intense vape, but they are tougher to get working properly in terms of wicking. You will need to be really careful that the coil is properly wrapped around your wick and restrictions to juice flow through the coil will need to be minimized. Otherwise, juice is likely to burn and the experience will be unpleasant. It can be a challenge, but it may be worth it to you.

^^With one of the best APVs @ hand u don't need to look-out for another, even if it's a mech. However, if u only have one device it'd be wise that u fetch a back-up, in which case Mech.Mods r desirable, if nothing else - for their coolest looks. Besides, mechies r born for sub-ohm RBAs atop.

IMO, everybody that likes to build their own wicks and coils needs a few mech mods.

Its satisying to build a better atomizing coil and it saves you a lot of money from buying replacement heads. No more $2-3 a head. More like 2 cents.

Mech mods will let you vape a 0.3 ohm coil......take a 20 second hit.....no wires inside to break....can take falls no problem.

I don't think you need one necessarily but it's all about what you want

1. A 2.3ohm coil is imo better on a provari since you can bump up the voltage, it might be fine for you off the charger on a mech but then not so much as the battery voltage drops.

2. I've never had a desire to vape above 12 watts so I don't really do sub-ohm coils. In my range a 1.2-1.5 ohm coil is fine, I can rock it on my provari or a mech. I think, again in my range of 12 watts max and usually less, I actually get better vapor on a 2 ohm at a higher voltage to get the same power. I just don't wrap as many coils like that because I like to be able to go back and forth between devices.

3.Like was said, mech's are a good back up, even more so a good mech you can either replace parts for easily or has parts available. I wouldn't recommend, though people use them and swear by it, a china mech if you want to do sub-ohm coils in the future but a cheaper mech will function as a fine backup. The classifieds generally have some good deals at times too, especially for a more common high end mech.

If you plan on dropping your mod in a toilet, drain, bathtub, glass of juice, letting it sit in the rain, taking it out into the 'backcountry' or beating its ... on the regular, get a mech. Soaking wet? Take the battery out, let it dry, and jam a new one in there. Bam.

I think everyone else has addressed the rest - at your normal ohm vaping you won't notice a difference between the provari and the mech, but that doesn't mean you can't start spinning some sub ohm coils.

Accidentally ruled up a 1.2 coil today and capped it at 3.4 and wow it was a whole nother flavor profile. Probably going to pick up a legend soon was really enjoyable..

my provari has had .09 on it and did just fine.
if you just wanna spend cash or build your collection.
get one, or 2, or 6.

I'm thinking about either a Reo grand and go bottom feeder or get a legacy and keep dripping. What's everyone's opinion?
