for the money its in custom territory
why anyone would choise this over a custom mod baffles me

Thing about custom mods is, who made it? One-of-a-kind design may be desirable to some, but then often you have no idea if it’s well made, what it’s issues will be, and whether there will be any support if it fails.

I’m sure there are some greatly skilled people out there making wonderful one offs, but I’m really skeptical about it, nonetheless. I’m not so elitist I need to have the only one of something. I like knowing loads of other people are using a device and what bugs, if there are any, to expect.

I actually looked at the Dani mini, but was turned off by the menu. If I could get past that, I’d have one.

Exactly this. I don’t feel comfortable sending $800 to $1500 to a guy in Malaysia or the Philippines. They pop up then disappear. What happens if I need it serviced. There’s no warranty. Nope for now I’d rather stick to the mods I have and their warranties.

When I have enough money that it doesn’t matter if I get scammed then I’ll order a custom mod.

Indeed. And besides, you can just slap a Bruins sticker on your VA Primo and bingo, custom mod ...

Found something useful for all the stabwood fans.
Policraft Universal Drill Clamp
Diving into this thread because this is a good piece of kit. More useful for the more abrasive disks though....when you're at buffing stage the pressure needed is quite light so my dewalt wedged in a half shut draw works perfectly....

As I say really good for sanding discs etc :)

There are plenty of other modders you can use. In europe there are some outstanding artisans..

No worries folks, thought that the drill clamp will be useful for some folks. As you can get polishing disk kits.

As me with carpal tunnel syndrome in both wrists, so called fibromyalgia and an issue with my right arm that has not been identified by the doctors yet (had an issue with cubital and radial tunnel, it sucked and still continues to suck). I am definitely getting the full setup, just to make things easier on myself.

I'll post photos of the full kit when I get it.

Heey...it will be useful....stonking price as well and i'll probably get one.

It's just there are not so many modders out there/in here I suppose. Now what I could do with is something to turn my drill/drills into a belt sander :)

@charlie1465, only sanding option that I can think of with a drill is an orbital sanding disk.

And I think that you can get micro mesh disks with hook and loop fastening as they call it, we would more commonly know it as Velcro.

But for the shaping part, I think that you can't beat old school sanding blocks and files. With power tools, it's too easy to go and take more off than needed.

FIY - for new stabwood mod owners: the 1st few pages of this thread are about maintaining, cleaning and getting your stabwood to pop!!

I can’t believe the difference it made especially for certain Asmodus mods which appear dull. One of the way Asmodus keeps the price down is because on many mods aren’t highly polished. Polishing the mod is what keeps costs “affordable”. Polishing takes a lot of time to get the colors to stand out and adds a depth to the stabwood too.

Not all stabwoods need heavy polishing. Some actually look great as is with a matte finish. Either way you’ll need to keep it oiled and “waxed” as instructed in the first several pages.

And if you don’t own a stabwood you should lol!!

My newest Thor arrived today and like all of them, it is beautiful. I honestly think my first Thor is more special - there is something about it that I love. Still, I am thrilled to have another to add to my measly stabwood collection. LOL Other will join when the time, and the mod, are both just exactly right. :)

Do you have a photo of your 1st Thor?
