Dr. Michael Siegel the Good, has a new post on his blog, taking this piece of human debris to-task over his article for the Greenville health System.

(found here: blog. ghs .org/2014/03/e-cigarettes-recommended-smoking-cessation/ )

[h=3]Another Tobacco Control Practitioner Tells Public that Smoking May Be No More Harmful than Vaping[/h]Siegel the Good does his typically exquisite job of tearing this guy a new orifice. :D

The real fun is when you click through to garbage head's article, and then down into the comments - 53 of them, and 52 spare no words in their own shredding of this guy.

Observation: more & more times as I click through Roger's media updates / round-up postings** here (you are reading those right?! ;) , and get to the comments sections, the vast majority are fellow vapers setting the record straight.

Many times all I can do is hit the 'like' button, or toss in an few endorsements of what has already been so well said.

"WE" are being heard, more & more, and louder & louder!

Btw, I know the NYT comments had more than its share of garbage comments, but then again, it is New York. Take that one with a dump truck load of salt!

** Here's Roger's latest update from the 26th for those who may have missed it  :thumbs:

Haha, go Doc!! Yeh, I remember commenting on there, I left the Onvaping list of studies and a few encouraging words. My post disappeared though. :(
i see he's written a post at the end, saying he's read the feedback & will post back at the end of the week.

I'm behind on Roger's posts, thanks for the reminder!

Well I finally got through all 53 comments this morning... 52 took the author to the proverbial woodshed, where each one administered a scathing verbal whupping :D

The 53rd comment was from the author:
I’ve received a lot of feedback on this post. I’ll follow up by the end of the week. Thanks for the dialogue.

That was a literal LOL moment... yeah, he got some feedback all right! Most did like Uma, provided citation after citation for their rebuttals. The author has to feel mighty embarrassed that the quality of the comments made his writing look like a 5th grader's D- essay

No wonder the comments were turned off - with 100% ripping against the author, why keep the floodgates open for more.

It'll be interesting to see if 1) the page doesn't disappear, or 2) the author comes back with a response / re-write.

I'll bet he comes back with the "precautionary principle" response. That's usually reserved for 2nd or 3rd level ANTZ responses.

As we singers like to say: stay tuned...

Onvaping did get a mention:

Dear O’Harra,

While you are certainly entitled to your opinion, your facts are simply not correct. I have quit smoking, and thank god every day for my VAPE! I no longer have any desire to smoke cigarettes, and am slowly reducing the amount of nicotine for my e-juice. Not only can I breathe better, but my lungs are no longer toxic. There is absolutely nothing in a VAPE or ejuice that will harm anyone if used correctly by an “Adult”.

I suggest you get your fact straight and read over the following documents: The Ultimate List of E-Cig Studies: Are E-Cigs Actually Safe? *Updated 2/16/14 - onVaping

Perhaps as we informed vapers keep giving these charlatans a proper skewering with FACTS and REAL SCIENCE, they will be more likely in future to do some FACT CHECKING before they spew... One can hope...

Yes, and I also hope to make $1000 / day giving unicorn rides in my back yard (garden)

IOW Agent, I'm not holding my breath

Btw, I do like the use of the word charlatans .

I'm adding it to my collection to incorporate into future comments.

This will be joining:
  • abstinence
  • desperation

So something like this: ... the flurry of junk science is a clear sign of the desperation that the abstinence only anti-smoking charlatans must be feeling in the face of FACTS & REAL SCIENCE

I like it! (And you accrue five bonus points for correcting my spelling so gently...:))

He has replied, if you want to call it a reply that is..

"In keeping with this mission of protecting and promoting health, I stand by my original point, which is that the e-cigarette is unregulated, has not been adequately tested, and we have no knowledge of the long-term effects, which may result from inhalation of liquid nicotine, which is delivered by these devices. "

He neglects to mention the years and years it took to get chamtix black boxed. Convenient.
Fda approval is overblown anyway. I've yet to see a cereal box say "do not exceed one cup per day". » FDA Approved: Paint Thinner in Kid

He's beyond help. You can deduce his stance on nicotine from these statements in his "response":

As I stated in my previous blog, if any of these devices become FDA approved, I will recommend them as a nicotine replacement therapy after consulting with patients’ physicians. As a former nicotine addict, I know how powerful this drug is, and how insidious and elusive the struggle to stay clean can be. However, it frightens me that the allure of fancy electronic lights and slick marketing will entrap a new generation of youth and potentially cause them to become addicted to this powerful drug.

As a registered respiratory therapist, my commitment is to ensure the best possible support for my patients. I want to be clear in stating that I consider tobacco usage to be a global epidemic. In the United States alone, tobacco claims the lives of 1,000 Americans every day. Tobacco is a killer, and nicotine is the drug that enslaves smokers to its use.
