Enjoying the Kick-fest but have a question........was there a Zmax V1 ? the only thing I can find is that it might have been chrome and only VV............needless to say, I want one....good luck right?
Would that be this one with the shallow hole in the center pin and no ego threading? This one does have VW tho.

The V1 was attempt at provari-clone/provari-killer, with VW capability and aesthetics resembling the provari. of course i'm sure most of you die-hard ZM lovers know that the 1st models came with dimples meant to mirror those on the Provari. It also had tapered-top-cap, which carried into later mods.

(hell, at the time, i can remember us screaming at the top of our lungs to "please get RID of the taper!" and, well, they took their very sweet time) as-with all mods back then, the idea was to sell sell sell, listen to complains complaints complaints, and introduce new, pricier model to sell sell sell. rinse & repeat. thank GOD competition took care of those TRULY DIRTY (1st round customer = beta tester, 2nd round customer = 2nd-round beta tester, & so-on & so-forth) PRACTICES! was truly despicable human nature.

does anyone remember the 1st-round smoktech natural? I do, I OWN one... not even FLAT TOP batteries fit in the 1st version natural mod.... HOW does a mod get through quality control, thousands upon thousands of units produced, & when those of us whom pre-ordered & bought the 1st available tried vaping from the mod, we find-out that NO battery would fit without huge gap between body tubes... HOW does something like that get-by your quality control people smoktech?

Does anyone remember the 1st Smoktech Zmax models? They had mispellings allll throughout the menu. Do you think that would fly today as a 1st-round mod? HECK no... We'd be P**SD!! Which is honestly why I ultimately refused to buy a Smoktech Zmax. Y would I want to look @ a screen with spelling mistakes all-day after spending tht much money on something? F tht.

1st the smoktech telescoping mod was released with NO battery venting. (remember? madvapes personally took it upon themselves to drill vent-holes for it's customers?) THEN the smoktech telescoping mod was re-released with venting, and the vent-holes SLICED our battery covers RIGHT-off, like a damn cheese cutter... THEN they RE-released it AGAIN, fixing the vent-hole burr issues, & they made the top-cap removable/adjustable- p**sing-off THOUSANDS of individuals whom had already purchased 1 of the 1st two defective models. -_____- ALL within a matter of 2-3 months. Gotta love ST, gottttta love em. KANGER was NOT w/o these issues!!

It's funny that we "trust" these companies today... Funny what the introduction of quality-competition does to an open market. ;)

:lol:This was my first APV. A Smoktech E-Power 14650 using barefoot XL cartos. Laughable, but I quit smoking with it. It lasted me for a year and it never broke.

Actually, for its time, I thought it was a very "good looking" setup. Rather simply elegant.

Thanks,Foggy/Dan/Plumes....................Good info, I went thru 3 or 4 Smok Zs a few years ago, still have a bad taste in my mouth regarding Smok thanks to their lack of QC on the Smok Z.......it led me to my first SigZ though since I liked the style and refused to partake of the Provari given the elitist attitude here on the forum( reminded me of the Harley Davidson Only Mentality) , thanks for the leg work guys!!!, now the daunting task of finding a V1 kit NIB from some online retailer getting rid of that old new stock( or is it new old stock?) Maybe a trip to the "peoples" republic(love that one) of China?

There was another more important factor in the quick demise of the Sigelei Zmax V1. Wattage was not calculated by RMS. That capability arrived with V2.

I didn't buy either V1 or V2 because I didn't like the phony Provari styling. I have always disliked everything Provari, mainly because of the Provari fanboys and not so much because of the device itself. I was really happy to see the Sigelei V3 arrive on the scene with it's cool flat top styling and telescopic tube. I owned my 1st gen V3 well before pBusardo did his review on it. I got a good laugh when the Provari P3 came out with its flat top styling ripped right off from Sigelei. Everything comes around. Unfortunately, Provari never figured out that the display window belongs on the same side as the button on a tube mod.

The E-Power 14650 was a nice looking little rig. It had a tough brushed stainless steel tube. The big drawback was primitive voltage regulation. You stuck a fresh charged 14650 in it. It bucked B+ down to a "semi-regulated" 3.7V that fell again with coil resistance (load). LR cartos were designed to work with these low voltage APVs. Once the battery could no longer supply 3.7V it was esentially an unregulated mod. I got used to wild swings in vapor quality while using this E-Power. For tube mods, the 14650 was not that great a choice for a battery. The 18500/18490 is a little fatter and shorter with the same battery capacity. As tube mod design goes it is a better idea to reduce length as opposed to reducing width.

Lol that brought back memories.... Used to tune my Honda just to spend time with my brother and brother in law while they were busting knuckles trying to get their Harley and Triumph to run. And then listen to them laughing at ME as I hopped on my "YING YANG" and went riding!

I still have never owned anything by SMOK. I was tempted with the M8O and then that turned out to be a failure. I just head the other direction.

I think in the first vid, he mentions Sigelei is already fixing the flaws and I thought that was V2. If so, that means V1 would have only been made for a month before it was replaced. If I recall, there were some long threads on ECF about the battery shoving the board out of place too. I suspect most V1's were returned or thrown away. One other flaw was the "pop tops" they had. Finding one now would be rare. I did see one listed on a Chinese site for $8O, then in small print, "sourced on demand". Care to give it a go? It might be interesting to write to Sigelei about a Bobo. Ya never know. SJ did have his orig V2 up for sale and I don't think it sold.

Have to remember when the V1 and V2 were sold. The protanks were the popular atty at the time and the slant top fit 19mm well. Everyone was still using carto tanks and IB Tank's 19mm worked great on them. It wasn't until V3 that the zap came around. The transition to the flat top was probably in response to the Kayfun and Russian explosion.

Clearo users were still stuck with 19mm until the aerotank mega, which worked like crap and that was well into V5 because I'm a clearo user. Gee, I could use a viva nova on a flat top or a iclear whatever. Big whoop. The aspire nautilus came later and that's been it since, until very, very recently and by then there were no more Zmax's.

I know our group had a choice of flat or slant, and we chose slant. Majority of vapers are not hobbyists and don't do their own coils. It's skewed on ECF.
