Glad I was able to snag a v5 from KP. I did my 4th v3 switch upgrade, it didn't go well. I thought everything was fine. Used it all last night. This morning was rolling the wattage on it own. Thought maybe it was laying on the fire button, not. Changed out the switch 3 times same thing. Work for a few minutes then acts possessed and fires up on it's own. I think this one goes in the scrap pile. Any thoughts.

Look for a new complete board???

Stikisave,
You might have shorted something with solder while installing the switch (created a solder bridge somewhere). You could remove the switch again and examine your solder pads and nearby solder points on the circuit board. Make sure solder didn't migrate anywhere on the board it wasn't supposed to go while it was melted (using too much solder can cause that). "Solder wick" or a "solder sucker" would come in handy if you need to remove any solder bridges. When you're done, temporarily install the board in the tube without the switch so you can power it with a battery and see if it still scrolls through the menu. That should be a good test to see if you fixed the problem. Then you can re-install the switch again if it tests good. Best of luck, and hope you resolve it.

Wicked the board at the solder points and put together without a switch, same result. Possessed, and now junk. Thanks for the input. I wouldn't even know where to start looking for a donor inards.

Anyone looking for a mini this is a good deal. Most colors in stock with SS limited and no purple.

SIGELEI Zmax Mini Mod | Vapor World

I was under the impression that these mini's used the V3 circuitry and firmware. However, I see that they show that menu item 5. LCD DISPLAY includes:

Time: to display the time of each puff
Current: to display the working current
(features that AFAIK weren't available until the V5 came out)

I suspect an error in the product description, but now I'm curious... Has anyone purchased one of these recently that can verify?

They also show it can "charge a mobile phone", but the menu description doesn't include that 9th menu option, so I'm pretty sure that's an error.

I wish they'd show a little more diligence in the product descriptions. Customers not somewhat familiar with these devices could easily be led astray.

Does anyone know if they have solved the button problem on the V5? I seem to remember Yzer doing a button replacement on a V5. I'm waiting on my Digi Key order to get here and I'll start on the button replacement on one of my two V3s that are misfiring. I have a good iron and some desoldering wick and what I think is a good plan for taking it apart. I was thinking the other day that I really like the Sigelei but I would have a hard time recommending them to anyone unless I had hard evidence that they have addressed the button issue. 100% failure rate on two out of two V3's is not acceptable, no matter how good of a deal it is. It's frustrating as heck to have to stop and cycle through and fix what changed when I thought I was pressing the button to vape, especially when driving or engaged in some other task. I'm not sure I'm up to the button replacement task and I have pretty good soldering and electronic skills, so I can't imagine some of my less capable friends trying to deal with a malfunctioning Sigelei.

I think it the multiple uses of the menu system. Click Click click click.................

I have to disagree. One of mine started acting up almost immediately and ricks' all started failing within a few months. Way too soon to be worn out from cycling through the menu. Most of the stuff that I vape is with a 1.8 to 2.0 ohm coil at 7 to 8 watts so I hardly ever go into the menu system. It's just Sigelei cutting costs on the one part that shouldn't have been skimped on. If you figure the cost to Sigelei for the buttons I ordered from Digi Key would probably be pennies on the dollar for the quantity they would purchase, it's hard to figure why they would not put a good button in there. Especially after so many documented instances of the button failing. I'm hoping I can successfully repair them. I don't feel like looking for something else!
