Hello, folks!

First and foremost, I want to apologize for my ignorance. I just don't know what I'm doing wrong.

I have a TRA LP Reo Grand with a RM2.

When my juice gets to about 1/2 full, I begin to get dry hits. I squonk and I squonk, I've tried several methods. A long 10 second squonk; Two 3-second squonks, etc. and I keep getting dry hits!!!

What in the world am I doing wrong? I've watched super_x_Drifters videos about the RM2 and I believe my coils and level of adjustment are fine, but maybe not?

Thank you for any advice you can give me.

Take care,
Dani

When you get to that point, take the cap off the RM2, squonk it and see if anything is happening. On mine when I get to 1/2, or less, I have to squonk harder than I do when the bottle is fuller.

Great. I didn't think about taking a look "inside" of what was going on. Thanks!

Try unscrewing your bottle and then putting it back on. Letting a bit of air inside the bottle will help.

I will try that! Thanks, RattlerX!

I usually refill when the bottle gets to 1/2. It takes a lot longer of a press to let that juice get up to the RBA.

Sometimes the tubing curves some also. When squonking with low juice level and you tilt your REO it might leave the end of the tubing where there is no juice.

Also, is your RM2 deck pretty much packed with cotton? Just leave some space around the hole in the white deck and loading up the deck with cottom should keep your wick nice and wet. I use this method and rarely have to squonk. Good luck!

I used readyxwick, so there isn't any cotton on the RM2 bed.

Oh, and by the way Dani, there are no silly questions, they are all good. :)

Thank you. :) You really made me feel better.

Dani,
If you hit it dry and scorched the RxW under the coil you should rinse and pulse dry until clean. You can take tweezers and slide the RxW out just a tad to see if it is clean under the coil. If it is scorched it will not hold juice like when it was new.
Great information! I didn't know that. I will for sure look for that the next time this issue arises. It always seems to happen when you're on the road an hour from home, though! Just dumb luck!

I have had mine now for a full week, and this is what i did constantly the first 3 days to try and get the hang of squonking. Worked for me to learn with this visual!

Just small slits? I haven't seen this done yet. I'll look around for some pictures. Thank you for the tip!

Without that V the Reo will work fine for indefinite periods, but sometimes for some unknown reason the tube will suction itself to the bottle and prevent juice from filling the rda at the most inconvenient times (like when away from home/out and about).

When I first got my REO a few months back I quickly learned to make sure the small oring in the cap is situated properly. If it gets uneven it may not make an air tight enough seal and it won't squonk very well.
For better sealing, you prepared oring with drop e-juice or silicone grease ? Thank you.

A note about ReadyxWick...

I found (on this forum I'm sure) a trick that has helped my wicking - after I get the RxW into the coil I gently twist the smallest jewelers screwdriver through the middle of the RxW while it is in the coil and at the same time squonk some juice into the atty. This will make a tunnel, if you will, through your RxW for juice to flow into and get the RxW up against your coils.

I usually spray rubbing alcohol mixed with water (50/50 mix), and spray it on my O-Ring to make sure it's clean. Stretch it a little, and place it on the Reo; then screw the atomizer done. I've never heard of anyone using any type of lubrication on the O-Ring beforehand.

Thank you for the picture. I will be performing the surgical procedure today with my super-sharp scissors.

I did notice last night that it was getting pretty heavy on the oil up in there. Will clean it today. I wasn't sure on how to clean up in the knickknack of it, now I know. Thank you.

I LOVE this thread! You guys are the best!

I found doing the V cut was a little hard for me, and didn't turn out looking very good. I ended up cutting the tube so it looks like a syringe needle. Works just as good! Let us know if all this solves your problems!
