oh yeah those
huh.. i took 'wrap' more traditionally (/literally?)
i was wondering who uses those

i don't know, never really considered it looking nice to others. i've had a few things when i simply enjoyed how pretty the thing looks, somwhat added to the pleasure of using it. it did however occur to me how what impression it might give when i take it out of my pocket to sit down in a seminar or colloquium or the like_ what type of subtlety would help avoid seeming too worldly to more solemn prof's and grad's. i'm in a very tweedy field.

@Opinionated, la fashionista, girl may be an understatement. i mean, if that's what makes a girl, the missus is a male bear_ i can't count the number of times i stopped her goin' out in grey and green or some other mess.

any protective value to these?

ahh the wife would get along beautifully with my husband.. haha

As to the best mods for the intelligentsia crowd, as you well know understated elegance is always always more expensive..

you want to say I have knowledge, know what I'm doing with simple taste without all the flash, and that's a costly field, no matter what your buying, even the well tailored white shirt (or blouse for the woman) is high end pricing and mods are no different..

We have this field in mods as well, something like this says it all for you:

Of course, it's high end pricing for that kind of understated thoughtful look, so it's likely your doing fine with your basic silver mods..

    Hot dayng! That is purty.

@Opinionated I do testify the -40 Americans I've seen in conferences are actually that pretentious. esp. the philology/theology guys: some with lawyer-type suits, others with expensive looking plaid-stuff.
There's a lot of 'I can be myself and be serious'-types from Europe, though (tattoos, dreads or the like) but these are usually politic-ish (everything from literature to dip.relations with) types.
Myself and the others in my department are neither here nor there, really.

@Letitia well yeah, that's what i kinda sorta meant. Like @Opinionated 's son, my first (and only) ipod was screaming-pink, so were the crocs back in the day, they were simply all the respective shops had left and i'd wanted the thing quickly for a trip or something [seem to be always behind on new stuff]... Only had an image of Prof.Dr.My-Supervisor seeing me take it out and thinking something like 'looks like he plays vidoe games too?'... it wasn't a rational, well-developed thought or anything. Not because he's pretentious_ opposite in fact, i've seen him at least twice with a misbuttoned shirt, once with the tail sticking out of his zippers, and once in mis-paired shoes...

@Punk In Drublic even if was one of the diamond-ones??

That's why your so drawn to the silver then.. your a no frills nothing to prove, "I like what I like and do what I do" kind of individual..

keep getting what your most drawn to, it suits your personality.

I just love stainless steel! Don't really care for colors (also like black and gunmetal) Most closeout deals are the really odd colors... actually I don't care (if I can get a $50 item for $8.99) There may be one exception... salmon pink (yuck!) And I do like rainbow. My current mod is SS and I can't find any more except red, but it's still SS under the paint... might try to remove the paint.

The prices were all the same for HohmTech mods didn't matter the color and Silver G2's hit the hardest. ;)

The HohmTech Slice though had a horrible baked ceramic finish that actually came off in your hand. Awesome mod otherwise as it can TC any wire out there.

So my Dodger Blue Slice quickly became shiny silver. ;)

BTW, some mods have that "rubberized paint" (I think it's actually marine paint for boats so it won't chip) Has a nice feel to it.
The Praxis Banshee (screen down the side of the mod) in the picture I posted has a rubberized coating all around the body which is excellent.

The CoV Wraith squonker wasn't as good, the rubber paint started peeling off of it within a month, in the end I just rolled it all off.

The last Pico I ordered was a Pico S. It has a contoured body covered with a silver rubber paint. In about 3 weeks the paint started to chip off. Once that happened I was able to remove the rest with a thumbnail. Under the paint the metal was the same silver color as the rubber coat. I'm happy with the way it looks, but not really happy that the original rubberized finish came off.

I've never had much of a problem with my other Picos that had a painted body. I'd rather that the S model came with a painted body.
