Simple Explanation for safe Wattage/Voltage in relation to Ohms

Hey kids,

Once I think I have an understanding of how to determine safe wattage in relation to what resistance the coils I am using requires, I read something else and it completely confuses me. Can someone out there give me a simple way to determine exactly how much wattage I can apply to any set of coils? I am currently using a dual coil combined ohms of 1.8 on a Hana V3. I like the tape I get at around 15 watts, respectively as I increase wattage, the voltage output also increases n the digital display. I am seriously worried about blowing .... up in my face.

Thanks guys. Super X video was excellent. Im not sub-ohming, for a number of reasons....mainly because a Hana is not an ideal device to do it with. So far I have enjoyed builds at 1.0 to 1.5 ohms with the Tugboat ran on a Hana. I also recently bought about 6 Purple IMR Efest batteries a few months ago, then when I started to investigate battery performance I found out that they are total .... batteries. Now I guess ill be saving up for some VTC4 or 5's.

It's not something that you need to worry about as much on a regulated device as long as you are using high-drain batteries.

But, the gist of it is this:
total power (watts) = electrical potential (volts) X amount of flowing current (amps)
and volts = amps X electrical resistance (ohms)

If you were using a mech mod, you could use these equations to calculate that 1.8 ohms at 4.2 volts will draw 2.3 amps for 9.8 watts of power.
But your regulated Hana has a built-in amp limit, which is going to be less than 20 amps, possibly only 10 amps. So, as long as you are using batteries rated for 20A or higher, you are fine with any build that the device will fire.

Yes it was, I'm just trying to understand which one of the 100 sub forums we have in this group was more appropriate.

I wouldn't feel like you did anything wrong. Sometimes the mods just need something to do. But, since your topic is regarding a VV/VW regulated device, it does fit in that sub-forum. I created a general thread about all types of clones last month, which was about both APVs and atomizers, but many of the postings happened to be about APVs. Eventually, a moderator moved the thread from General Vaping to APV discussion. Considering the amount of APV posts that were in the thread, I suppose that it is now easier to find for members specifically looking at APV topics. The move didn't kill visibility of the thread, so its not a huge deal.

A sub-forum will reduce your thread's visibility, ie: only people that are interested in regulated mods will look at your topic, but there are so many posts on these forums that if they aren't specifically categorized it makes it hard for other members to find appropriate topics.
