Simple Questions

I just got my 510 starter kit yesterday and started using it just minutes ago. The kit came with two of everything and four cartridges. I think this thing may work for me. Everyone knows the panic of finding that you just ran out of analogs. So, I have a few related questions. I smoke about 1 and 3/4 packs of Marlboro reds a day. How many cartridges would I need to last a month? Second, are the two batteries that came with the kit enough, and about how long will they work before they won't recharge and I have to toss them? Finally where's the best place (price and quality) to buy the cartridges?

If you refill and rebuild your cartridges, you will never run out unless you wreck them.

Where do I learn how to do that? Assuming I'm capable of doing that where do I get the liquid to refill with, and then how much would I need?

I use the Rho mod for my 510...and like it. This thread gets quite lengthy, but it is the method I use...don't look at the video in the first post...Rhoneil has a better one somewhere in the thread.

I found it was cheaper to order extra kits through Cig not then purchase batterys and attys separately. You also get extra carts and charger. Order your liquid from one of the suppliers, the carts don't go very far and are a waste of money in my book. I've ordered juice from Mist Stix which is $9 after using ECF code and cheap shipping. I've also ordered from RMV with great service.

Thanks to both of you, I'll check out the thread. Assuming I decide not to go that way, I'd still like to know how many cartridges I'd need. Also, still wondering if the two batteries are going to be enough considering how much I smoke, and what their useful life is

Purchase batterys and attys from whom? What is "attys"? Is everyone saying I can refill the cartridges that came with my starter kit or do I need to buy a special cartridge??

You don't need to buy enough cartridges for a month, you need juice. Most people use between 1-5 ml a day, with the average being around 3ml per day. You can refill those cartridges over and over again. You can get 30ml anywhere from $9 (china) to $30 (TW-totally wicked). The cartridges themselves (blank ones)n are also available if you want more at several different suppliers. They cost about $2.50-$3.00 for 5. Hope this helps!!

I'm also new -- only been vaping about 3 weeks now. You can re-use the cartridges that come with your kit. I just rinse mine out with hot water. Take the little "poly-fill" stuff out first and rinse it out separately -- you don't want to lose it. There are lots of threads and even videos on the forum here to show you how to do it.

Yes, you will need extra batteries. I was a 2-pack/day smoker and I have 4 batteries, which is more than enough. Usually you'll have one on the charger while you are using another one. I have the other 2 as backups. Plus now I have a USB passthrough to use when I am working at my computer.

If you want to try some sample-size liquids at a decent price, I can recommend RockyMountainVapor.com -- $6 for 10-ml sample size. The samples are all 18mg nicotine. At first I thought it would be too much nic for me, but turns out it wasn't. I've ordered 3 times from them now. Free shipping if your total is over $14, and they are super fast, too. I can highly recommend them. Plus RMV has great prices if you want to order the larger 30-ml or 50-ml sizes.

Others here on the forum love the TotallyWicked juices as well. Either way, using the liquids and refilling your cartridges is way cheaper than buying the pre-filled cartridges. Plus it gives you a little more freedom to experiment with mixing the flavors. I love the RY4 tobacco mixed with the vanilla flavor; I'm sure you'll discover some fantastic flavors as well.

I am not implying that these 2 suppliers are the only good ones -- just the ones I have personally used. If you look in the Suppliers section of the forum, plus also the e-liquid review section, you will see that many forum members recommend other suppliers as well.

Welcome! There are lots of youtube videos on whatever you may want to do as a beginner. That's how I learned to do all sorts of things. Search and explore and the answers will come! Carts can be repacked with teabag paper (works great! using one now.). The cart is plastic and hard to break, so all you need to do is repack them (after several uses the packing goes bad, for lack of a better word).

BTW atty = atomizer.

I bought with my 510 starter kit and extra battery and extra atomizer, and PCC charger case. I can vape all day long no problem without a power outlet, since the PCC case charges batteries in general faster than it takes me to use one up.

In the beginning it is good to get flavored juice at a few nic levels to see how each is for you, and get an idea of flavors you like. Then you can make your own juices with high-conc unflavored juice, PG OR VG, and your own flavors, like those from Lorann. Best to try some premade in the beginning though so you have something to vape while you learn more DIY mathods. Again, youtube vids are full of clear teaching about almost anything ecig.

The thing is once you start making your own packings and juice, the price to vape goes WAY down.
