Freedom of choice.
I was at the grocery store yesterday, buying some grub. I saw Low Fat Bologna. Does anyone lose wieght eating low fat bologna? Who actually buys this?
But it did get me thinking about our freedom of choices in food. Do you know that my little town has a Philippine Market, an Asian Market, and a Thai Market?
I can buy my choice of 100s of soft drinks, and call them sodas if I choose. I can buy cans of green beans cut, whole, french style, or even frozen or fresh. I can think of 10 different kinds of bread I don't have to wait in line to buy. Just look at all the frozen dinners I can nuke.
The freedom to choose what to feed your family for dinner does not sound like a big deal. But imagine if there was only one type of bread, or a State sponsored beverage. Think of life with only one type of mac-n-cheese, the cheap plastic tasting one.
We enjoy many freedoms in this great land. This contest helps us remember some of the obscure, and some right in front of us.
