Freedom to me is the ability to do what I like with whomever I like whenever I like for as long as I like and then being able to reinvent the way I want to live. Freedom is for others too- independently deciding how they will live. I work with someone from another country who has been a U.S. citizen for almost ten years. She made a comment the other day that women should always do what their husbands say. I was reminded how lucky I was to be raised to believe I could think and act for myself. I didn't argue with her, just said I disagreed and left it at that- because she has been here in the U.S. long enough to see women have choices too and it is her freedom to let someone else make her decisions. Sometimes it's hard to let people have their freedom!

Freedoms come in small packages. Like being able to walk down the street at 4am. Or being able to talk like a pirate if you choose. I can preach the virtues of communism or pleasures of anarchy. I can wear a bacon toupee. I can have an online affair with myself, and blog about it.

But restraining freedoms start small too. Like the government listening in on cell phones or checking e-mails. The city mounting cameras on street light poles. Restrictions of religious expression. Control of where you can vape.

In order to remain free, we must protect all freedoms, even ones we dislike.

Really near the mexican border.
Freedom is the ability to express your opinion on electronic cigarettes, such as Rachel Ray; even when you have no idea what you are speaking about. Thus allowing others who have knowledge on these fantastic little devices to express themselves without ridicule or having to defend themselves, because "others" also can express themselves, without worry for persecution.

To me, freedom also means I have the right to think. Think of ideas such as the following, and the freedom to express these ideas without fear of prosecution:

My Idea to spread the word to the general populous about the more effective and higher quality E-Cigs that actually do work well. Rather than letting all the companies who manufacture cheap garbage and market them at 7 Eleven and Shopping malls charging a huge price for an inferior product. Why Can't Our vendors advertise on Television to expose the public to these wonderful devices. I know I have seen advertisements for Blu and a couple other E-Cigs. And heard many ads on the radio. Lets get the good ones on the TV and Radio as well.

My Freedom to say such things is what makes my work worthwhile.
