Hello everyone,
For the last 8 months I have been vaping 18mg 50/50 e liquid in the TFV8 X baby.
But now it feels really harsh, i tried going down to 12mg but i didn't really get my "fix" from it.
I'm hearing a lot about pod systems lately, and a guy on the vaping subreddit went as far as to say that i should get one.

Anybody have a suggestions ?
Thanks, Jamie

Why not give one a try? You might like one better than your current setup.

I don't own a pod system myself, but they do seem to be pretty popular. They have their pro's and con's.

Pro's are they arguably deliver more nicotine than your current setup and at a lower wattage, mainly because they use nic salts instead of nic base eliquid, which have a higher nic concentration.

Con's are pod systems can be more expensive to use in the long run because many pods systems use more expensive proprietary replacement cartridges, and many don't allow you to refill your pods with your bottled juice.

Cheapest solution I can think of is throw some 50/50 18mg salts in your tfv8 baby. As far as a device is concerned juice is juice. It won’t notice the difference. If it solves your issue the problem is throat hit.
If it DOESNT solve your issue the problem is something else.

It might be you’re developing a PG sensitivity, which happens. In that case a high VG juice may help. I don’t have a tfv8 baby so I don’t know how they do with high VG juice. Adding a tiny tiny bit of distilled water will help if it turns out to be a problem though

It might be that you haven’t changed your coil in a while and your old juice was fine to begin with.

It could also be something else I haven’t thought of

Welcome and glad you joined.
At the very least a Pod may be used as a emergency back up, go for it.
"Nicotine Salts E-Liquids are complex compounds containing salt-based nicotine, typically less harsh to vape which allows for better tolerance of higher nic salt e-juice. Keep in-mind that Nic Salt eJuice is typically different than traditional Free-Based Nicotine, the conventional eLiquid you see in bigger vape devices. For the most part, both types consists of the same nicotine found within the natural tobacco leaf, with the exception of benzoic acid composition in nicotine salts. As a shortcut guide, benzoic acid lowers the pH level and reduces alkalinity that allows for a smoother vaping experience at higher nicotine strength -- optimized for lower-power devices such as pod systems and certain vape pens."

If you're going to buy a pod system buy something that folks seem to think is well made. Some of them are crap. I had 2 Sourin Airs die pretty quick. My son had 2 die also. Don't buy the Sourin Air! Visit the POD page here and read up on what people are liking.

One thing about nic salts...some people really like them and some don't. I am in the don't-like-them camp. They make me cough. But you can run straight juice in most pods, you don't have to use nic salt in a pod.

They’re not all benzoic acid though. Pax patented like 18 different protonated nicotine types. At least. I believe it later came out that JUUL (as differentiated from PAX which they split from) does use benzoic acid. Other folks, who knows though.

If I were you, rather than buying a pod system as a first option to solve your problem...I'd buy a small bottle of nic salts eliquid, at your regular 18mg if it's available...to see if it gives you your "nic fix" but without the harshness you're experiencing. That's the purpose of nic salts anyway, from what I understand = allows people to vape whatever mg eliquid they need, yet without a higher level of harshness. It sure would be a lot less expensive than trying a pod system from the get-go. :)

I make DIY eliquids myself, and haven't bought commercial eliquids for more than 3 years. I also don't use nic salts nicotine for my DIY, because I only vape 7mg eliquids and I don't vape subohm at all. But from what I've seen on quite a few websites...the nic salts eliquid appears to be about the same price or $1-$2 more than the regular eliquids. Finding nic salts eliquids at 18mg may take some searching though, because many of them are 30mg or higher. I definitely would not use anything higher than 18mg nic salt eliquid in your TFV8 tank though.

ETA: In fact, I'm surprised you've been vaping with 18mg or even 12mg eliquids for 8 months, if you're using them with your TFV8 x Baby. It's usually recommended that people who vape subohm use 6mg at the most with a subohm set-up. Many of my friends who vape subohm and DTL, use 3mg or below.

I would agree with instead of buying a new system, if your set up works for you....just try different juice
mainly I would suggest upping your vg% to help with less harsh, I'd also say lower your nic levels but if you are having nic fits then obviously don't do that...getting some 18mg nic salts might help, it's worth a shot and much cheaper than buying a new device ;) I mean not saying having something new and different and as a backup isn't a good idea, but still....what is a pod going to do that your setup already doesn't do? aside from having a much shorter battery life and usually not VV and harder to find comparable pods for a decent price and usually not refillable....
