Slightly Gypped? Gourmet Vapor vs. BWB

Let me start by saying that I'm not out to bash anybody... I've been very satisfied with both Gourmet Vapor and Backwoods Brew in the past, and I feel like both companies fill their respective niche quite well.

Since finally discovering my (current) perfect vape (thank you, Inferno-T), my consumption of ejuice has risen and plateaued to the point where I buy two 30ML bottles every 18-21 days. My first two rounds of this order was from GV. It was the first time I'd ever had a 30ML bottle of juice at any time. I noticed that one bottle was slightly more filled than the other.... nothing to get persnickety about.

However, on my second order I noticed the same thing (the bottles were not evenly filled), but also that they were BOTH filled a little bit more than the last order altogether. Suspicious? Yeah, I guess so.

Yesterday, I received two 30ML bottles from BWB. I didn't order from BWB for any other reason other than wanting to change things up a bit. [SIDE NOTE: Don's flavor quality is freakin' impeccable, IMO]. When I opened the package and set the two bottles down, I instantly noticed that both of the bottles were filled to the absolute brim... I had to be careful not to squeeze them too much while they sat on my desk because they would have overflowed.

At first I suspected that they bottles were simply different than GV's -- i.e. GV perhaps used larger bottles. However, upon further examination, both BWB and GV's bottles appear to be very similar in both total size and plastic thickness. In fact, BWB's bottle appears to be slightly larger, if anything.

So I'm wondering: Who's measuring accurately? My guess is that these bottles are built to hold exactly 30ML when they are completely filled, so I doubt that I'm getting bonus liquid from BWB... I'm guessing that I get the 30ML that I paid for. My suspicion is that GV may have some quality control issues and is half-assedly filling bottles, which is shorting me out of liquid. Obviously this could be tested by filling both bottles with 30ML of liquid to ensure that each company's bottle holds the same amount... but I'll have to do that some other time when I'm not sitting in front of my computer being a lazy bum.

Has anyone else noticed these kinds of volumetric discrepancies when ordering juice?

I believe that a 10ml or 30ml bottle is "full" (i.e., contains the listed amount) when it is not filled all the way to the top. I was recently told by a vendor that a typical 15ml bottle will actually hold closer to 18ml. So if you get a 30ml bottle filled to the brim, you are probably getting more than what you paid for rather than getting less that what you paid for if it is only filled mostly to the top.

All the above are correct. If your 30ml bottle is filled right to where the radius starts and maybe just a smidgen more then you have 30ml. I know this from my DIY brews. I have also noticed this "extra" that Don at BWB squeezes into his bottles. It doesn't surprise me at all coming from Don. It's very clear to a lot of people that he is not out to make all the $$ he can but in fact actually enjoys what he does and honestly likes to help people. With that said, from everything that I've heard and a few orders of DIY stuff I've placed with GV, they are also a great supplier.

I know this thread is a bit older now, but it directly addressed the problem I had today when I got orders from BOTH these vendors. Don's bottles were so full I had to be careful not to spill any of the precious liquid by simply sniffing it!! On the other hand, the order I got from GV was only two thirds full in the 15ml bottle I received from them. I even took a picture of it and sent it to them asking why the shortage?? The smaller bottles I got, 6 5ml bottles due to their sale they just had, weren't close to full either. I quickly got an email back from Cindy stating that their bottles were actually larger. The 15 ml bottle was actually 18mls and the 5ml bottles were actually 7mls and she apologized for the confusion. I was happy with that explanation and decided all was okay. I got a good price on these products and with Cindy being so quick and accommodating in her response to me, that's all I needed to hear. Not long ago I had a problem with a very reputable vendor and they pretty much told me that I was wrong in my assumptions that something was not quite "right" with their juice and suggested I buy an additional product, from them of course to correct the problem that didn't exist and of course pay shipping for that as well. I don't need allot to make me happy, just be fair and treat the customer with some respect.

I think both these vendors are top notch and I will happily buy from them again. I'm still not happy with the vendor who was not the least bit helpful and has ignored my emails but I am saving that for another thread. I want to give them time to make this right.

For reference here's a BWB 30ml bottle filled with precisely 30ml. For the record I didn't waste 30ml of great juice; I love you guys but not THAT much. It's colored water:

Oh, and for further reference, here's me when I go to order from BWB and they're out of Casablanca...again!

You must have just missed it- I ordered 3 bottles today. Not trying to rub it in or anything. Contact him, see if he'll have it in before he goes on vacation.

Thanks for the info! I just went to the site and he does have some in stock...shhh, don't tell anyone! It's just as well because if he didn't I had made up my mind to go back to Kenya, find that lion, bring him back and set him loose in the BWB lab. Yes, I'm THAT addicted!

We could find out where he's going on vacation and track him down! I bet he'd love that!

Well, I suppose I could press my Chiweenie into service as a tracker; he IS half Dachshund. Problem is it won't be nearly as threatening when we find him. "Give me my Casablanca, Don, or I'll have this Chiweenie sniff you all over!"

got my GV order today and almost everything i got was custom mixes i made up and yay they turned out so good! Tatgirl's mouth rush is awesome! anywho my bottles were about 2/3 full also. Idk there is something about a full to the brim bottle that makes me happy. Im sure theres trully 5ml in there but the bottles seem no larger then my other 5ml samples and those have always come in full to the top. Still good price and good flavor.

I just recieved my BWB order the other day and yea, filled to the brim. BWBrocks. I am yet to return to GV since my last order. The flavors were craptastic. Perhaps it was just what I ordered. Ill try again im sure at some point.
I forgot to add Blubaco to my last BWB order. Hope Don gets back soon. One of my favorite juices of all time.
