This may sound silly to you all, but I'm a bit paranoid about driving and vaping... In my head, I picture the soccer mom in the minivan next to me seeing me vape and exhaling a huge cloud and thinking I'm vaping/smoking {OTHER STUFF} or something and calling the po-po. (Which I don't do at all) Or God forbid a cop seeing me do it and thinking the same.

Is this a concern, or was it a concern, to any of you when you were newbies to vaping?

Orrrr am I just being silly? Sorry but I'm honestly a bit paranoid and wondering if any of you have helpful advice.

Thanks!!

I'm an older 60+ (not saying how many the + stands for) and sometimes have the same feelings. I find I'm less self-conscious with a smaller ego sized ecig. In the car I sometimes use a small passthru. I was stopped once outside of my car in a parking lot by a cop. That was a few years ago when cig-sized was the norm, but he only asked a few questions and moved along. Of course I'm an old guy living in a college town, so I'm sure he had bigger fish to fry.

I think there's always been a chance people misinterpret what we're vaping, perhaps more so now with so many non-ecig devices on the market. I vape freely when driving, but don't blow massive clouds. If I'm at a light with or driving by police I don't vape openly, to avoid any misunderstanding. Seems like common sense to me. Stealth vaping in some situations still works fine for me, and I'm just glad I'm not smoking.

I don't know if vaping is a lot more popular in the metropolitan areas but I live in a small town in Minnesota and a lot of people have saw the little mini blu and njoy electronic cigarettes but if I take out my clearomizer tank setup in public people gawk at me like I'm smoking some type of advanced illicit superdrug.
When I started working at a dock removal job last fall my co-workers thought I was smoking {OTHER STUFF} when I took out my kanger protank with a dark brown butterscotch juice in it.
I think it's safe to say most people's set-ups I see on here can definitely draw attention, the general public just doesn't know what the hell they are, they are only familiar with the type of cig-look-alike e-cigs you find at walmart.

No, its not silly. I still feel uncomfortable driving and vaping or anywhere people can see me. I know theres no real reason to feel this way, just a social anxiety thing for me, the attention even if its only in my head. And while we are not doing anything wrong, I still wonder what police may think if they drive past me even though most are aware of vaping by now. Some people vaporize {OTHER STUFF} in similar looking devices with dry, or wax atomizers, but I doubt a cop would pull someone over due to a guess, when most vapers are using eliquid.

I used to worry about this too back when I first started. Now I love to vape and drive.

I go through a border patrol checkpoint every day on my commute and I vape openly through that. I've had many conversations with the agents there about e-cigs and a couple of them have even started vaping.

I think every chance we have to interact with anyone who doesn't know what vaping is, or might be suspicious of it is an opportunity we shouldn't waste. Let them stop you, educate them, go on your way.

Of course I also understand people don't want the attention and I respect that too.

It's not silly. I had the same thought. So far nothing like that has happened to me, and honestly if I did get pulled over it would be obvious to the po-po once they look closely that I'm just vaping, so I don't think it's a big concern.

I did have some teenagers get very excited today because I was vaping in the park while walking my dogs and they thought I was vaporizing "something else" in public. :)

Nothing to add to your post, just wanted to say I dig your username and location.

I can see not wanting the hassle but I was a closet smoker off and on for years. Ya know how it goes, quit start back, quit start back etc. I got tired of of those convos so I never told people when I quit or started back if I didn't need to. I felt guilty or something. Now I refuse to hide that aspect of my life. I wont blow clouds in the check out line, which is rude laws or no laws, but in my car, my home or outside in general I am who I am and I'm happy to explain that to anyone who feels the need to ask. Moral is, IMO, you are behaving legally so no worries.
