I'm curious if anyone has been noticing shorter battery life when using a slim charger? Most of my batteries last 3-4 months. I've occasional got a few bum batteries from V4L lately that don't last more than 1-2 months. Since I bought the slim chargers, it seems like all my batteries are rapidly degrading. Typically the faster the charge, the harder it is on the battery for a variety of reasons such as heat. I'm wondering if it's just battery QC issues, or if others are noticing degraded battery life with the slim chargers?

Hmmmmmmmm . . . he hasn't posted "over there" since mid-March, perhaps he really is shopping around and just having a lot of (very uncommon) trouble with new hardware . . .

OK, benefit of doubt given. (Christian charity, and all that.) I hope he doesn't prove me wrong.

Aww, I was getting ready for the "Return of the Kitten Army" with new & improved weapons...

Interesting find so far, the king diamonds and stealths are still showing 4.2v at start no matter what charger or multimeter I'm using. The old school shorty autos are coming up (using a multimeter with 4 spots after the decimal):

Slim charger- 4.1896
Usb charger- 4.2006
Wall charger- 4.2041

Will update with more info soon...

According to the engineering team, these chargers should actually prolong the life of your battery. The original charger charges the battery to 4.21V, which is at the upper edge of it's limit. The slim charger charges the battery to 4.18V, which we've been told is the best voltage for these batteries.

Thanks for the very informative response! I guess I should pull my ohm meter out, and also make sure I'm not just mixing up my batteries and thinking older are newer ones. I'm sorry I caused a ruckus with a simple question.

Since I feel bad for causing you this commotion, I mentioned QC because of a few bum batteries -- only 2-3 out of ~14 this year. That's not too bad for Chinese products. Note: before anyone tries to dispute math on my longevity claims and the number of batteries, my wife and I keep 3 batteries each on hand at any time and some get lost... The problematic ones seemed to have a softer metal (aluminum?) battery terminal that would start to strip. I think they also had the pressure switch at the terminal end instead of the ash cap end.

Also thanks to the person that mentioned deep-cycling. I went off and read another thread and didn't realize the battery didn't cut itself off before draining too far. I'll have to remember to stop using the battery sooner.
