Please send me a snap shot of your build please. Sounds very nice. What kind of cotton are you using?

Im using some sort of organic cotton balls from CVS...its in a clear bag with green writing on it. All the Mech "cloud chasers" I hang out with use it. I will see if my camera will take some close up snapshots and I will go through my build process and e-mail to you. I dont know if its the best build out there, but it sure works for me.

Wow..this is the first time I acually get to show you something !

(By the way.. the Vanilla Custard DIY recipie you gave me is starting to get hellaciously good.....I am on week 2 of the 4 week steep suggested. Its getting really smooth..)

Yes, very complex and long steep time. Probably about another week. The strong stuff settles down, the subtle flavors emerge. Great in the Kayfun too. Thanks for the shots and build on the Kayfun too. I look forward to them! Told you a couple of weeks ago we were in the same vape zone!

I have both Provari mini and the Semovar. I'm still trying to get the hang of the Semovar's UI and it seems a little glitchy. At this point I like the Provari more but maybe that will change.

It took me a minute to get the menu down also. I like VV so mine stays there.

Be nice if we could go to the local B&M and check out the various finishes, right? I have the semi-polished and I'm happy with it, but I had the semi-polished 3.1 before, so I had to match it. Doesn't show fingerprints, which is nice. Welcome to the Vape Zone, lol!

It's different than the Provari, but intuitive once you get the hang of it, and only one button click for every function, so actually, a lot quicker to adjust than the Provari. Most reviewers consider the UI to be a little easier than the Provari. I would have to agree, but there was a learning curve.

All my Kayfuns are semi polished so you'd think that'd be a no brainer. But, I'm a thinker, Bill... the best way for me to have 2 Semovars is to order the matte finish and put a Kayfun on it. Then I think of something really sad so's to get a little teary eyed...then I say "But baby, it doesn't match...." Presto! 2 Semovars and 1 wife that thinks I'm overly emotional...I can live with that!
Now...about that custard.....lol

Sounds like a plan....wish I'd thought of it.

Anyone know if the 3.1 is just out of stock or really discontinued as it says on Cloud 9? I like my hybrid connection and don't want to buy a Russian to get another Semy/3.1 with hybrid to work. I can definitely tell a difference with the hybrid....smoother, slightly less harsh, etc. Anybody?

Right or wrong..heres my build. (dont make fun of the month old crooked Micro coil..:p

I Thread it, screw on cylinder, lay it across the channels, bring it back up top on the side of the coil (for no dry hits kinda like a double whammy), clear the air hole...then "wet it and forget it"

Looks almost identical to my build. Microcoil with cotton (ball). Vapes fantastic. Like you, I prefer to the carto tanks. I'm going to try to vape my kayfun/semy this entire week and see how it goes. If it goes well, then I'm going to get another setup for the missus (my backup, lol). If the 3.1 is not available any longer, then I'm going to have to go with a clone, I suppose, as I'm totally hooked on the hybrid connection and can tell a difference in the vape. So far, the KF 3.1 with Semi in hybrid is the best tank setup I've used, and very close to dripping, imho, though I'm not much of a dripper [yet]. When I started vaping, that's all we could do was drip. I found it to be a drag, way too much effort, and too time consuming, but that is another story, and I know many feel it's the only way to go. Different strokes, and all is good.

I also don't use the fill hole on the KF 3.1. I unscrew the top, fill, catch a thread on the top cap, invert and tighten. No problems with flooding or leaking. Doesn't hold quite as much juice, but easier for me, and doesn't require a special bottle. A bit quicker too. Anyway, Mr. Bond, I certainly appreciate the posts above. Very nice. What resistance do you build you coils to?

Im doing my builds at 1.1 Ohm with 28Kanthal at the moment.

Ive played with twisted kanthal....1.5, 1.7, 2.2 Ohms....Vertical....dual builds.

I keep going back to 1.1 ohm single wire Kanthal...... I set it at 3.3 to 3.4 volts and usually leave it there. If I go to 3.7 or more volts on a 1.1, I will fill up the cab of my PU in one draw..(cant see good)..and it tends to burn my cotton quickly.

Beleive it or not...Ive never tried anything in there except cotton.. ( just because of all the experimentation with other things in drippers and stuff....seemed to prefer it for now)

I also fill from the top.... so easy. :toast: No fill hole for me. Ive also taken my air screw out for that BIG DRAW....... :vapor:

WE'RE IN THE VAPE ZONE !!!

By the way, a new email from Keith at Cloud 9 confirms that the hybrid connection will be used on the KF4 coming out this spring. Can't wait! But will, patiently, and no clones for me, lol. I do like supporting our innovators and understand the great quality clones that we are now seeing, but, to each their own. Since the originals become instant collector editions and increase in value (as I've found), I'll stick to my strategy. And, I must admit, I'm pretty happy with my gear these days, and can honestly say that I currently have nothing coming in the mail, the first time in over a year of vaping I could say that. I'll need to order some DIY soon, but with the RBA's, I have enough materials for several years of builds, and at least of month of cartos, should I go back to them. FYI....my two cents.

I like a little tighter draw, about medium I suppose. I like my coils between 1.2 and 1.5 ohms myself. I have special 40/60 juice at 12 mg/ml for the KF's. I think I need to go down to 6 mg, and will be making a new batch soon...like today or tomorrow. Thanks for the info Mr. Bond! Appreciate it. I did my latest build with 30 gauge kanthal, microcoil, cotton [ball]. Loving it. Your enthusiasm has swung me over, my friend, and I may not go back to carto tanks. We shall see how this week goes. All the best!

Mr Wizard.....I know you love originals and serial numbers and limited additions.. :2cool:...... but the 3.1 at (dirty word) Fasttech matches the finish of my semi polished Semo.

Its also the best quality out of.... Hcigar and Tobecco. Dont know who makes it.

You should see my limited edition and numbered drip tip collection. About 60 now, and not really feeling a need to add many more at the moment, lol. When I started, I never imagined I would be buying $50 drip tips. Financially, this is way more expensive than smoking was, lol, but at least I have something to show for it. Today's drip tip on the KF 3.1 is the Vaperev Vapelab VR Edition #167:

VR Edition Drip Tip by Vapelabs - Vapelab - Drip Tips - Accessories

Anyway, I seem to continue to find ways to spend money on the "hobby." At some point, I need to stop. I may be there now. Good luck!

Sorry, OP, to get off topic. Here's some pictures of the Semovar and the Provari:
