Dripping: I could never see myself NOT using a tank system and only dripping, too much hassle..... take off the top, drip some juice, hit it a little bit, repeat........ I want my life is easier as I got/get older..... But as a change of pace, and for fun....dripping or more accurately cloud chasing the last few days has been a f'ing blast.. But I do see myself playing (just playing) with drippers from time to time now.

Hey Phone Guy, I know dripping can be a pain in the behind, so I wondered what you thought of the 3D dripper? It has a 1.5mm juice tank underneath the deck. The deck is spring-loaded, and when you squonk the deck down, eliquid floods the deck, and when you release, gets sucked back down into the tank, resulting in wet wicks. I can vape on this thing for an hour without having to drip. It fairly chucks clouds too. It has the advantage that if you just want to purely drip to check out a load of juices in a short tine, you can just drip normally too. Anyway, just a thought. I have the authentic one from Atmomixani, but I know of two folks who have an FT clone and they're all good too

I really want this device, but it seems like forum/website/vendor site I visit, people are having issues with it (even VapeRev's reviews/comments section).

if I order one, what is the chance I'll have to send it back a few months later?

have the battery life issues been resolved?

if/when a new Nivel chip comes out can it just be "dropped" into an existing Semovar?

thanks in advance.

That's one of the drippers I was considering... the 3d, the magma, and another one I cant remember...... Drippers are like flavors of the month.... todays hot dripper is tomorrows bargain because a new one came out with a beveled edge LOL

I love my semovar. I am unaware of any new nivel chip, but I'm sure that's around the bend (so to speak).....

I think the semovar performs very well, its one of elitist mods you never (ok rarely) see people have, it has a hybrid adapter for kayfun 3.1es (or clones, authentic 3.1's are a little hard to come by). It supports and delivers a solid 15w of power. The menu takes a short learning curve, but very easy once you get the hang of it... shows battery life in the form of a 6 segment graphic type thing on the screen.... if I had to complain about anything it would be that it fires only >1.0ohm ..... but that's not really a big deal. I think its great, but that choice is yours. I'm sure others will chime in.

The Semovar is one of only a small handful of devices that I would consider top of the line. I have a couple of Semovars and four Provaris. The quality is excellent on both. I don't know how you can beat the Provari for quality (see Busardo's video of factory visit), yet it gets slammed every day. The main problem with any of these devices is that it is certainly possible to have connection problems/issues. Like any learning curve, they are easy to correct, and maddening until you know how. Often our APV's get blamed for poor quality in our toppers. I wouldn't worry about what some say about either device, and heartily recommend both. All electronic devices have issues, most easily corrected. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. Go for it! You won't regret it. Here's Phil's video (Part 1):

If you buy one, you are likely to love it. Looks great, feels great in the hand, and lots of accessories if you want.

I in particular have been very noisy about battery life. But I have had mine completely apart a dozen times so it could be dirt, oils from my hands, whatever. Could also just be tired batteries. Still my main mod. I personally think real problem is that the semo has a menu option to display voltage under load. No other mod has that, and if people could not see that, they would probably vape contentedly. In the beginning, I was getting two days on a single battery...

Spin two caps off, remove two screws, nivel chip falls out. Time to replace = 5 minutes.

Oh yeah... I did some battery testing today on my Semovar...... the battery cut off is at 3.4v .... Tested two different 18650 Sony VTC5 and a purple efest 18350 (the 10.5amp one). at the point where the Semovar stopped firing was 3.4v according to my volt/ohm meter........... tomorrow I'll switch to my Futura DNA20 with the Taifun GT, and measure those same batteries at cut off point. (probably not the 18350, just the VTC5 18650s)

BTW: I've been using my Semovar in Hybrid mode with a Kayfun 3.1 ... right now I'm using a 30ga parallel coil (2 wires wrapped side by side on a single 2mm precision screwdriver), measures out to 1.2 ohm, heats up quick at 15w and the coil is LONG, lots of surface area....... Better vape? Hell I don't know, it makes vapor............ And I think its cool as hell, cause it doesn't look like dual coils, its 1 long thin coil..... I'm not sure if I can tell the difference between Hybrid mode and 510 mode......... but it does look better, except the logo's dont match up on the side... they're close, but the tank logo is just a little pass the logo's on the mod..... if I adjust the white insulator inside the semovar up a tiny bit, I can make them line up but then I can see a hairline gap (that a piece of paper probably wouldn't slide in)..... so I make it flush mount :D

I forgot to update this part... I did the same tests with sony vtc5 18650 on a futura dna20 at 15w. The dna didn't stop firing, but the vape changed drastically and the screen reads weak battery (or change battery, I cant remember). But the results were the same on both batteries in the dna20.... they "stop" firing at 3.3v so essentially the same as the semovar.... and the fact that the dna kept firing, I probably could have drained it further, even though the vape was really weak. I feel pretty safe saying that 3.3v on the DNA20 or 3.4v on the semovar have essentially the same battery cutoff voltage level.

I've had my Semovar for a couple of weeks and I really love it. I can't say how others would feel, or compare with a Provari, since I don't have one, but I love the Semovar. I did find that it went through the 18350 Efest batteries I have really fast with the short tube. I'm using it with the 18500 tube now, and AW batteries, and it's great. The look, touch, weight and feeling is dinstinctive quality, the vape is really great, I love the fire button, I totally love the adjustable center pin, and the adjustable bottom cap connector. The chip is replaceable. *Everything* is replaceable, since it completely breaks down into parts. And I don't really mind changing voltage, but this does have variable wattage, so it's an easy set-and-forget. The menu feels complicated and takes a bit of getting used to, but fine after you get the hang of it. I like that you get a quick visual representation of how much battery life you have left every time you press the fire button. I use it almost exclusively now, all day, every day, and I'm really happy with it. (It was expensive, though; a splurge, but it feels worth it.)

Been using one I snapped up on the classifieds for a couple days. I have a provari too and it's hard to say which one is better since they both have pros and cons but the semovar is definitely a machine.

With my authentic kayfun, match made in heaven.

By all means if you can afford it buy a Semovar. I got one from the classifieds and even though the battery life is relatively short, it doesn't really annoy you once you get used to it. I have a Provari and a Provari mini and IMHO even though they provide a great vape, the Semovar is superior to the Provari. It is also a very customizable mod with lots of accessories and adjustable pins.

Hey dog hair!

I see you have the full metal, err, full plastic, err, full makrolon jacket for your kayfun. I just got one, and I like it. Now even MY tired eyes can see the juice level.

Here is a pic of mine with a dog fish head.

Just get one. I have been using mine for 3 months now. I alternate between the Semi and a mech throughout the day. I'm usually awake for 18-20 hours on a workday and keep an extra set of batteries with me. Usually the Semi will last 8-10 hours.
As modular as it is if a new Nivel chip comes out it is a 15 minute swap easy.

That there u-thing is a sticker. It is hard on battery life - you have been warned. But I love the form factor. The only place I know you can get one at the moment is svoemesto.ru. There is a coupon code somewhere back in this thread if you go that route.

Why is your tank so cloudy? Bad pic? Clone tank? Or a real deal that got abused by juice?

Sticker, that's it. Thanks. Worse on the battery? I didn't think that was possible. This thing munches down batteries as-is. This is going to be my homebody anyway.

It's just a noname frost tank. The topper is authentic but I have a bag of different tanks and caps I change constantly. Most of them are eBay cheapos, I don't make any tank cracker juice.

Scroll up this thread for discussions of sticker voltage drop. I work from home, and am rarely more than a few steps away from the charger. But, I use 3400mah pannys and I go through 2 a day vaping at 10 watts. Exhausted batteries show 3.7 volts on 'em. Okay enough for me, but perhaps not everyone.

I would guess for homebody purposes, a sticker would make you happy.

I don't use cheapo parts, and your cloudy tank makes me think I am correct.
