Um... Are you saying that you have to completely disassemble your mod and reassemble it to sometimes work again? Sort of intermittently?

I'm not sure I'd want that as my solution, and unfortunately though, I don't have a better solution to offer. I suppose you could check for any loose wires or things that look loose inside the mod, maybe you have a sort of intermittent fault that only shows itself sometimes?

With that said, I'd think you'd need a certain amount of electrical knowledge to know what you are looking at/for. If you don't possess that knowledge, maybe there's a vape shop near you where you might get some assistance? When I first started vaping a vape shop near me had an electronics whiz and I got several things fixed (for free) that I pretty much thought were irredeemable when I brought them in. I might try that first, if you are uncertain about the electronics before attempting too much yourself.

Because what you have going on now (and with a smokalien) doesn't sound very safe. I mean, going dead is somewhat preferable to going BANG, but if you keep fooling with it, you are probably placing yourself at more risk for a BANG than simply going dead.

Intermittent faults (and it sort of sounds like one, as does your current solution) can be hard to figure out, so if you have a vape shop, go there, etc.

Someone may be along with more specific solutions for you and that would be fantastic. But, if not, (and if a vape shop can't help) I would probably urge you to retire the mod. Some mods have a shelf life, and the Smok Alien hasn't exactly been the bastion of reliability (even compared to many other smok mods) so I'd be a bit concerned about trying to continue to use it if it is behaving in this fashion. But, I'd probably say try for a repair, and if you can't, replace. There are probably more durable Smok mods than the smokalien, if you like Smok mods, some of the more recent stuff.

There are also more reliable mod makers, too, so if this can't get fixed, you might want to ask about possible replacements that might be comparable, but more durable.

Best of luck, welcome to ECF, and sorry to hear about your problems..

I've had this setup for about 4 months and it all of a sudden just shut off. I have to remove the tank, battery and loosen the bolts on the bottom then put it all back together and maybe it will work again. Any suggestions?
Welcome and glad you joined.
Just be careful, we need all the vapers we can get, healthy and happy.

Im actually an electrician which is why i took it aprt to look at the wiring. Everything was solid and not burns on the circuit board. I figured out that i had to remove the battery for around a minute to let the system restart. Took it to my shop and the kid looked at me like a deer in headlights so no help there. Im just going to have to get a new mod. Suggestions on one that wont break. Just using it to quit smoking so i dont need anything crazy.
