Today I picked up a smok BEC Pro and am quite happy with the mod for the price. I do, however, have some concerns. First to take out the battery you must unscrew the middle of the mod where it meets the chipset. While you can unscrew it at the base of the mod, I find that doing so is quite laborious as you have to fight a lot of spring tension to get it back in place. The manual states to remove it from the middle by the way. This wouldn't be really any concern at all, except for the god awful screeching sound the threading makes. I checked the manual twice to make sure I was doing it right due to the noise ans the resistance of the threading. That's my biggest issue, and if that's the way it's designed-oh well. Secondly I can't get the damned thing connected to my iPhone 5s via Bluetooth. I did once and then it dropped. It's driving me nuts. A large part of that ire was having worked for the evil empire of Verizon Wireless for two years, and having connected devices to phones everyday. So if any of you blokes out there could give me some advice I'd greatly appreciate it!
Cheers!

Yes, the threads on this thing sucks, worst of all the mods I have. The Bluetooth is useless as you have to keep re-enabling it every time it goes to sleep. The overall build quality is horrendous, I have a bubble that was formed on the plastic surrounding the screen right in the view of the OLED as well as spots on the inside of the plastic window (possible bubbles or adhesive or resin spatter as well as multiple spots right on the OLED from possible adhesive or resin spatter (the screen was obviously not cleaned prior to final assembly), the B with the Bluetooth underneath was silk screened by a buffoon, it is 3-4mm to the side (not centered).

While in the menu mine has on more than one occasion fired and would not stop until I remove the battery or let the 10 sec safety kick in. The information that is displayed on the OLED is useless as you have to enter the menu to change it to see either Battery, Ohms, Temperature or Output, yup only one can be displayed at a time and the info is only shown as you press the fire button, goes dark as soon as you let go, SMOK expects you to use your phone to see ALL the info at once but to do that you have to constantly re-enable Bluetooth and have the App reconnect to the BEC, total rubbish and a waste of time.

I have emailed SMOK with all these issues and they will not respond... Last SMOK product I buy, I will stick with Joyetech. I have an EVIC Supreme as well and honestly it puts this BEC to shame, the Bluetooth is just gimmicky and adds no real benefits that I can see. The EVIC Supreme can be had for the same price if you find it on sale.

Sorry for the ranting but it should connect and stay connected until the mod goes to sleep, It does not have to be paired to the phone as the App handles the connection. There is nothing you can do on the BEC itself other than turn the Bluetooth Off or On. I would suspect it is an issue with the BEC seeing as their quality control department if one exists are a bunch of blind buffoons. I would try connecting it to another phone and if that doesn't work I hope your vendor will exchange it because SMOK obviously doesn't care to respond to their customers. I purchased mine direct from a Chinese distributor, this thing is not even worth the $59 dealer cost.

Well if you like it then it's not a mistake, I know the one I got should not have got packaged or left their facility.

There are some things about the BEC that may be able to improve with firmware so the potential is there but as it sits today my Evic Supreme is not being replaced by the BEC and as for SMOK not responding, that is just LAME, why even put your email address for support when there is none. So far I see a company that has no Quality Control and no Support staff, just a Sales department to collect the money.

Well, I appreciate for the aesthetic side, and frankly the BT is more of a novelty. It does hit nice and hard. As for your experience with customer service, I'm not surprised. I worked for Verizon for two years so I've seen it all. Best service I've ever received was from ProVape. Literally answered my email in less than 15 minutes. Thanks for your time and help!

I had concerns about orderung the BEC Pro. Read all the negative complaints and what people liked. I agree, sounds like there are some issues. But I think those issues will be corrected in the future with firmwear updates.

If this device was not able to be updated, I wouldnt have ordered it. Mine should be here Monday. I'll post what I think about it.

It was either the BEC Pro or Evic Supreme. There isnt really any videos on the BEC Pro yet, just what I've read on here. Pete Busardo did a review on the Evic Supreme. Seemed good except the screen was pretty much unusable outside. That was a big turn off for me. Being addiceted to my Samsung Galaxy S5, I thought it would be cool to have a mod that i could program with my phone.

The bluetooth turning off sounds like it will be annoying but I hope they fix that with an update. You can put lube on the threads like what I use on my flashlights.

Just clean the threads. They will get better with use. If you lube, use something that will conduct electricity to avoid the potential for a very slight electrical shock (this is an issue with all PVs since the body is generally used for the negative connection back to the battery). Also, the spring breaks in after a couple of days (I'd rather have as strong spring that will make a great connection than a weak spring that doesn't). I put batteries in through the battery cap and leave the mid section screwed in and it works fine this way now, but it definitely didn't for the first day or two.

Aside from some streaks on the plastic covering the display that are only visible in dim light when the display is on and the one item at a time limit, I am pretty happy with the device.

It sounds like you need to exchange the device with the store you bought it from.

Smoktech have been producing devices that have been prone to failure for years. I thought they might have changed their attitude with this particular device.

Apparently that's not the case - once these guys have your money - they don't give a damn.

Phil not Pete... The BEC is totally unreadable outside as well, actually may be worse than the Evic Supreme.

To the original poster, all of a sudden mine no longer connects to the app anymore as well, all it tells me is make sure it is turned on. Reinstalled app, rebooted phone, removed and replaced battery in BEC and nothing. My phone can't even find it as a Bluetooth device. I would stay away from the Smok BEC, without Bluetooth connection there are no firmware updates or fixes, Big fail for SMOK.

The Evic Supreme V2.1 firmware has large display characters which are more readable in bright light.

Yes it does and unfortunately the piddly screen on the BEC won't be able to take advantage of that.

Got it connected again to the app, had to shut the BEC down and remove the battery, uninstall the app, boot the BEC back up turn on Bluetooth and reinstall the app. It still gave me issues with the password but at this point the BEC was detected by my phone via pairing the device and confirmed the password was correct. Uninstalled the app again and tried again upon reinstalling, took me awhile but eventually the App let me see the BEC.

Tested a few times by exiting the App and relaunching, sometimes it would detect it right away other times it just sits trying to connect. Not very reliable it seems.

Strange. I don't have any springs in mine at all. It's like a telescoping mod. It just screws together and tightens against a brass contact on the head unit and another brass contact on the bottom end cap.

I didn't think there were any springs at first either. There is one in the end cap. It's just extremely tight and will break in with time. Makes for a strong negative connection.
