Personally I don't have the Scar but I do have the single coil Octopus and absolutely love it. I have rebuilt it a few times playing with different types of coils but pretty much stick to a 1.5 ohm micro coil.

Now as for the air draw, I have watched Todd's review of it and he gives it the highest of praises without any changes to the air delivery. I do have a dual coil UD that draws the air in above the coils. Tried it in stock form with the tiny holes and it was okay. The vape guru at my local B&M said I needed to enlarge the holes so I did just a tiny bit and in my opinion I ruined it. If I cover one of the holes it draws almost like it did before enlarging them and is okay again but for the most part I consider it a lesson learned.

With the design of the Scar I don't know how you would increase airflow short of drilling the cap above the base. Have you made sure the air holes in the cap and base are aligned? Have you checked to make sure something hasn't gotten into the air passage? (Todd made mention of getting a small piece of silica in his and it messed up the flow)

I'm going to pick one up next time I'm in town and give it a try but in all honesty, my single coil Octopus, for the whole $6.00 I have invested in it, is far and away the best atomizer in my collection. My problem is I drive a truck so for 11+ hours a day I'm behind the wheel and dripping really isn't an option so I have many tanks as well but at the end of the day my Fogger gets put away and the rest of the evening is spent with my dripper.

So I bought a scar a few weeks ago. Very disappointed with its performance. It obviously needs more air flow (I think? )

Does anyone have this unit? Opinions? Suggested mods to make it better if any?

I have it,I loved it after drilling the unit and cap out to 1/16". It's kinda tricky as you are drilling between the two o rings. But this was the first rda I drilled and with a standard hand drill. Made a bed out of a rag so it wouldn't move and eye balled it. I've even seen then with a second hole drilled out. It needs a lot of air.

I have not modified the one I have, but I get much better results with the little $6 generic single coil one I have vs the scar no matter how I build it...to me it seems like there is little to no air flow, I'll check and see if the air channels are blocked...still on the fence about drilling it?

Anyone have any pictures of their units after drilling?

Even if you drilled out the horizontal air channels, you would still need to drill the vertical ones as well. I think I read a thread here where someone drilled holes in the top cap in line with the coils to get better air flow. I would only go with say 1/16" holes. This would give you much better air flow all the way around the coils...

Are you running a single or dual coil on the Scar? I love mine, but I run a single micro coil and I had to put a piece of toothpick into the bottom airhole not being used. Wasn't getting any vapor with both holes open.

Single usually...never thought of closing that other hole.

I have had a scar sitting in my vape box for two months now. It sucked. I couldn't get a good vape on it with any build. Airflow was seriously lacking. Today was a lazy day so I had some time to play. I took it to the drill press and drilled out the top cap to 2mm. Removed the o-rings and drilled the horizontal hole out to 2 mm. When I started to drill the vertical hole closest to the side air hole the pressed in hole(stud) came out. The vertical holes that rise up from the base are press fit in. The one I was drilling fell out leaving me with a 2-3mm hole. Now everything except the hole furthest from the side air hole is 2mm. I left the second hole(and riser) alone. It vapes 10 times better if you like big lung hits(I do). I've been using it all day now. It's like havering a new RDA.

I've only run mine with dual coils, and haven;t had any airflow issues -- but the flavor is phenomenal!

Setting up a dual coil is still frustrating, but once I get both coils working, it's just works fantastically. I'll probably just do a single coil the next time I need to build, just to test it out as a single, and to save a few hours of fiddling :)
