I will let it dry out and try again. In terms of the battery, it actually doesnt do too bad. Two if them easily last me all day. Its all about the size and form factor for me.
You don't need to dry it out, just blow it out and run the paper clip thru it. If you washed it out with water then that is a different story, I have found that just cleaning them doesn't work out for me at all. To make a carto like new again you need to dry burn the coil and you can't do that with 1.7 or any carto that has filler materiel inside because it will just burn up the filler. For me when they quit performing I throw them out.

Two of my CCV ones died within minutes; HOWEVER, my other half filled them while I was sleeping AND he filled them with his cinnamon, so I don't know if he did it right or if the cinnamon killed them. Mine are working just fine with a chocolate/vanilla/hazelnut juice in one and grape in another. Afraid to try a third with cinnamon, though. I really like 'em.
When you say died, did you check them with an OHM meter to make sure they are dead? I like to fill my carto for the first time with a needle and syringe, then drip for refills. You can also put the condom that came with the carto on the bottom thread and push all the way on then fill or drip into it until it looks moist on top of the filler material and let it set for 5 or 10 minutes. If it is not filled good it just burns the filler material and it no good once that happens. Always keep them moist or the coil will burn the filler material.

I was just talking about drying out the carto since it had juice in it and remeasuring. Thanks for the tip though ;)

Yep...dead. I fill them correctly but it was his first time filling and using one and I was snoozing. I woulda done it if he had told me he wanted to try a carto. I use the syringe method; don't know for sure what he did :(.

Another thing to always check is if the center post of the carto threaded end is sticking up a little higher than the outside threads, if not you can pry it up a little until it is a little higher with a small screw driver or paper clip. This happens to me sometimes and the carto is not making contact with the center post of the battery. I have also had a few times when the center post of the battery was mashed down and I had to pry it up a little. I hope this helps, but once in a great while I have had a dud but not very often.

Thanks, that's good information. I never realized that. Are you talking about the coil being lower than the filler and needing to pry it up? Or vice versa?

I wonder if sudden-carto burn could be caused by pocket firing?

For mine I don't think that was the problem because the REO would be really hard to pocket fire because the switch is well made and hard to turn by itself.

What I was talking about has nothing to do with the coil or filler. On a carto at the bottom end with the threads, has a slotted center post in the middle of it almost touching the outside thread. This center post is what you may need to pry up just a little bit so it is standing above outside thread. Look at a new carto on the screw in side and you will see the center post is ever so slightly higher than the outside tread. I hope this is clear as mud.LOL

I was gona get a bunch of these guess wont now!!

Don't go by my posts; I haven't had any problems with them when I fill them myself. I think he did it incorrectly and telling him that is pointless. It was his first time filling a carto and he was doing it before going to a job and was running late, so...I recommend them and it's a great price as well.

Here is an e-mail I received from a vendor I really like after I let them know about the Smoktech cartos:

""thanks for the heads up, my understanding from smoketech rep is they changed there filler to more denser longer suppopse to faster wicking, this would affect mostly people that drip onto the carto,,,,think it's full when it's not."

they changed the filler, that would probably explain it

Very interesting piece of information there.
