I am looking to buy my first e cig and I have narrowed my choices down to these 2. I have heard alot of great things about Greensmoke but I can get the smoke 51 duo starter kit for about half the price. So my main question would be is it worth the extra 50 bucks for the greensmoke? I've heard that the cartridges for the greensmoke will work with the smoke 51 battery but I wanted to confirm that. If that is the case I think I would be better off with the 51 starter kit and the greensmoke carts.

Any advice that can be given would be greatly appreciated.

Keep in mind I am a newbee, hubby and I ordered Smoke51 duo starter kit with 2 batteries so we both could try these. While I was initially happy with the smoking experience, the carts seem to develop a burning taste quickly (maybe I inhale too strongly). Disappointed that I am limited to a very small selection of flavors. If your starter kit only includes one battery, you may end up with no backup should something go wrong.

After one month I have just ordered from another line (Vapor4life), looking forward to the variety and customer service others rave about.

Do look for discount codes for whatever system you buy. I'm still not sure if Smoke51 and Greensmoke are compatible. Hope this info helps. Also do not go with any free trial offers you see, lots of warnings about that. From what I see, Smoke51 and Greensmoke have comparable costs, not sure how you are coming up with such a cost difference, unless your kit is minimal with only one battery?

Just buy the Vapor King at Vapor4Life:: Because it's your life :: Electronic Cigarettes & Alternatives to Smoking It's what you will end up getting anyway.

I don't know about smoke51, but I would not really recommend the GS. It is a good product, but WAY overpriced, and there is little flexibility with it. The batts are good initially, but seem to lose ability to recharge fully over time. The GS passthrough is excellent, however, but it better be at 35-50 dollars. Seems to be full 5V. It is a beast of vapor, for sure. GS was my first PV, but I am FAR more fond of my 510 PV now. I would read a bunch here before deciding. Many, many other PVs that are much better and much cheaper. The rule of thumb seems to be that the more desperate and impatient you are to just "get a PV and quit smoking" the more likely you will be ripped off by companies that know how to slickly advertise to people like you. Avoid companies that play up how many analogs a cart is worth...that is not a valid comparison, and is generally far less than what is claimed.

Take you time, make a good decision, and you will be far happier in the long run.

I believe they are the same thing, model E9. I am still new to this, but I bought smoke 51 and I bought cartridges from GS and it worked. I bought some e-juice from Johnson Creek to see how refilling goes.

I am just happy that I have quit smoking analogs. The last few times I tried, I had a hard time, but this time has been such an easy experience. I guess I replaced my smoking habit with vaping. haha.

I purchased the Trio 51 and it lasted 2 days. Can't get the atomizer to fire up. Threads for the batt and atty are non-standard. A piece of junk.

Go to strictlyejuice.com. They have a 510 with 2 batteries, 2 attys and wall charger for 33.95 in assorted colors. Good throat hit and vapor production. Be sure to do the "blue foam" cart mod after the cartridges are empty. It will produce more vapor than the original 5 carts that come with the kit.

the greensmoke and smoke51 are both e9. not many vendors carry parts/cartomizers, and they are pricey.

go with a KR808d-1 for under $50 total, with charging case, with extra cartomzers
there are at least 12 vendors on this forum that sell the KR's. see the KR808d-1 subforum under 'model specific' for vendor list. Check under 'buying and selling' then 'sellers forum' for coupon code list thread

dj12gauge, I'd endorse Kurt's analysis; I wouldn't buy Green Smoke either. I was a "GreenSmoker" for a couple of months, and yes, a great vape, but ultimately an overpriced one. I had multiple issues with batteries conking out until GS simply got tired of me sending batteries back and just refunded me the cost of the Starter Kit.

Leaford is the V9/E9 expert (and leading advocate) around here. In this video he points out the pros and cons of the KR808D-1 (Vapor King is one of the brand names under which it is sold) and the V9/E9 (myriad brand names, including Smoke51 and Green Smoke), as well as three other PVs (personal vaporizers):
The V9/E9 is his favorite, but notice why ... and what he has to say about the KR808D-1. Then think about what you want from an e-cig (and your budget) and realize that such 2-piece cartomizer devices are only one type of electronic cigarette before making your decision.

For more on the KR808D-1 and those other models and the world of vaping in general see the WWV illustrated guide linked in my signature. [CAVEAT: I made a major gaff:oops: in that guide, confusing GreenCig with Green Smoke. Leaford praises the latter.]

Green Smoke's cartomizer's put out rediculous amounts of vapor... But the GS batteries have a 3 second cutoff, and that gets annoying. Green Smoke is also very pricey so their kit is not worth it. I reccomend using greensmoke cartomizers with an 808D-2 battery (like the one on lecig{dot}com or the red dragon battery from the red dragon ecig supplier) because they much cheaper without the ......ed cutoff.

Thanks to all of you who took time to reply!

I ended up going with the smoke 51 because they are located near me. I walked right into their office and bought a starter kit for $56 after the 30% off code. After doing some research it appears smoke 51 now uses the kr808d-1. As far as I can tell that's what mine looks like although it is hard to tell from photos on the internet. I orderd some carts from V4L as they also use the 808d-1 so I will update later and let you guys know if they fit one another.

So far I am happy with the 51, good vapor and the battery seems to be decent.

Brenden is right. The GS Cartomizers are great for vapor put out but the metered battery is very annoying when trying to achieve a good throat hit. I have already purchased the aforementioned 808D-2 battery and the difference is phenomenal. I concur with his purchase plan!
