anyone smoke and vape? im still having trouble getting over those "must have" stogs. after eating, working, mornings etc...
anyone have any suggestions on how to get over those must have ones?

What worked for me was to let myself smoke if I absolutely had to but not worry as long as the number of cigs was going down. Which meant it took around six weeks to come to a complete halt but since stress was a "trigger" for wanting a cig, getting stressed over cigs was kind of a vicious cycle.

Not everybody quits smoking the day they start vaping.

For some of us, it can take a while. I found that the more I got "into" vaping, the less I cared for smoking, and I kept slowing down with the cigs until I just... lost interest in smoking. The "must haves" died over time. Without much effort really. Like one day, the thought of a cig first thing in the morning sounded disgusting and I grabbed the PV instead.

I suspect, my opinion, there's an adjustment period. For some, hitting the right nic level, right juices, right flavors, all that... they get lucky first time out and walk away from smoking. Others, we have to experiment to find the right combination and it can take a while. I went through two different kits and have a few dozen sample bottles. But as I "zeroed in" on a set up that really worked for me, cigs were less and less attractive. Until I actually found myself disgusted by them.

Then my last pack was empty and I didn't buy another. And the idea of a cig sounds kinda nauseating now.

Oh... I smoked up to two packs a day for thirty plus years. I wasn't a "light" smoker by any measure. So it took around six weeks to zero? And? I got to zero. And you could not drag me back to smoking. I escaped. I ain't goin' back!

:)

Thank you all for the great advice, and stormwench thank you for great perspective.

I did actually have a good vaping moment yesterday, i backed into a car (which was stressful) and went for the vape instead of the cig. I was happy about that. In my quest to quit smoking
(Oh and just in case you were wondering, there was no scratch on either car lol, just a little tap, tap, taparoo)

i smoked for 25 years and it was the commercial with the lady with the trake in her throat and the thought of my young son and daughter that made me stop. I"m only 11 days in but so far this has been promising for me, and us. My other half was a smoker to. We talked about it and said enough is enough. I am no pro, but I agree with the fact that once you get over the triggers that make you want to smoke you have it made. And with all of my week or so of wisdom i cant imagine going back to smoking, we have tried everything but but until vaping we never made it more than a day or two. Best of luck to you and stay strong.

I saw that as well. They really got their point across on that one. But, she was probably a 3 pad smoker, living in casinos and drinking cheap bourbon until she passed out, only waking up to start all over again. Just speculating...

Im using joy ego c with vision spinner batteries, (400 mah for when i go out (very pocket friendly) and 900 mah also) I also have a protank and an artemis locking tank.
Ive cut my cig intake by more than a half. Ive gotten rid of the driving ones which is good for me since i drive so much for my job. Still the food ones get me. But all in good time and effort.

And actually this thread has really given me a boost of encouragment, so thank you everyone <3

For me after eating and in the morning something with a stronger flavor worked for me..... Like a totally in your face flavor.... that had the feeling of a cigarette but not the taste. When I stopped I vaped a strong flavored 9mg coffee, and 12 mg mom and pops yum, after meals and in the car and when I woke up. The fruity, and candy flavors the rest of the day... maybe this will work for you as well. Honestly for the first month my ego never left my hand, it was like my security, lol.... a month later I hate the taste of both the yum and coffee, go figure, but I no longer crave a cig at all...

I think I got lucky. I didn't MAKE myself stop smoking when I got my kit in, but after a week, every cigarette tasted SO BAD, I couldn't continue.

Now if I can just make it through the next hump (y'know, the one where one of my batteries isn't holding a charge, so vaping can be SEVERELY annoying ATM - hopefully solved when some new batteries get here), I'll be golden.

Thats the first thing that came to my mind when I saw that commercial too lol. But its definately still a scary thought

I was in the same boat op. I smoked occasionally for 2 weeks when I started vaping. I jumped my nic level up quite a bit and that seemed to help a bunch. after a few days of being smoke free, i lowered the nic level a bit and have been smoke free for going on 10 days now. I was a 2 pack a day smoker for 23 years. I had to go to 30 mg to finally get over the stinkies. now down to 20 mgs.

Best of luck!

I just wanted to second what bris said. You may need to up your nic level a bit to get over the hump. You can step down over time if you want. I started at 18mg (I was smoking menthol ultra lights previously). After a couple of weeks I noticed I was getting headaches from the nic & went to 12mg. Over a year later, I'm at 6mg and happy here. :)

Good luck, friend!
And welcome to the forum!

When I started vaping again for the first time in a long time, I tried to find something that would give me the kick of a cigarette, but would also taste better. I tend to use the iTaste MVP or the Vamo set high on voltage or wattage depending on the device with a ViVi Nova tank at high Ohms. I also use 24mg juice which helped me quickly because of how strong it was. I find myself using the e cig not as much because of how satisfying it is with my setup. I do have the occasional analog, but vary rarely.

A lot of us do or did both in the start. Most time you eventually get rid of the smokes entirely other times some people still have that first morning smoke. It's really individualized. The biggest thing that keeps a lot of people smoking a few if feeling like you are doing something wrong for wanting to. You've cut down that's a win, let the rest come naturally.

I always figured that first smoke in the morning with coffee would be the hardest, and didn't even bother thinking I would ever give it up--some things you shouldn't even attempt, and that first smoke of the day was sacred.

The game changer for me was Cinnamon Danish juice. It goes so nicely with coffee, and tastes so yummy that I didn't even want a smoke with my coffee anymore. Cinnamon Danish hijacked my morning smoke routine through sheer awesomeness.

I've said it before, and I'll say it a million times - it always works better if you're happy to do it. There's a saying that if you love your job, you'll never work a day of your life, and the same principle applies to vaping--if you love it, quitting won't feel like quitting. Just keep an open mind and experiment until you have a vaping routine that's more enjoyable than smoking, and it won't seem like a "gotta do."

And don't kick yourself for having a smoke! Having a couple a day instead of a pack a day is harm reduction, too.
