A lot of us do or did both in the start. Most time you eventually get rid of the smokes entirely other times some people still have that first morning smoke. It's really individualized. The biggest thing that keeps a lot of people smoking a few if feeling like you are doing something wrong for wanting to. You've cut down that's a win, let the rest come naturally.

Absolutely agree. I consciously chose to not "stress" about it. Long as I was smoking less, it was great. I spent more time on this new thing called "vaping" and finding flavors and stuff that I liked. I found that the more I enjoyed vaping, the less I cared about cigs. Then I found myself doing things like tossing most of the ashtrays because they stank. Telling myself, I'll keep just a couple. Then shoved what was left of the cigs and lighters and all into a cabinet because they were in the way. Then only letting myself have a cig standing in the kitchen next to that cabinet but the vaping stuff was in all the easy reach, convenient spots the cigs and lighters and ashtrays used to be. Then catching myself shoving ashtrays and all aside to make room for e-juice sample bottles.

Until I cleared that cabinet out because NEW MBV ORDER!!! :) New flavors!!!! Need room!!! :)

Still tell myself I can smoke if I want. I just have to drive to the little store down the road, buy a pack, drive back, figure out if I have any ashtrays left (I honestly dunno), blah and blah and more blah. And, oh, look, Root Beer! If I mix root beer e-juice with vanilla, could I get a root beer float thing going?

(Answer, almost. Try the other vanilla. Was I going to the store for something? Meh. If its important, I'll remember it later.)

ive been smoking for about 12 years and just started vaping 2 months ago. when i started vaping i occasionally still craved a cig or two cus i used to go through a pack a day. eventually i completely stopped the cigs because 12mg nic level seems perfect to get my fix. getting a nice throat hit seems to be a factor too.

My story. I knew from the first time I took a drag off a BLU ecig that I could switch from tobacco to ecigs. Wasn't easy. . .think I used both for around 6 months before I finally quit the tobacco cigs. Then vaped Cinnamon flavor juice, cutting the nic % alittle each month. Believe it or not. . .I suddenly got concerned with inhaling too much cinnamon. I've been DIY juice from the start. Next batch I decided to leave out the cinnamon flavoring and see how it went. 24 hours later I was vaping up a storm. Suddenly realized I'd ACCIDENTLY left the nicotine out of that batch also. Hells bells. . .who needs it. If I'd gone 24 hours without it I decided to keep on using just my plain old base juice, 50/50 PG/VG. VG is quite sweet so it's a sweet tasting vape. So, next year or so I'm just satisfying the old "Hand to Mouth" habit. Oral gratification so to speak. Worked great. I bought a couple gallons each VG/PG, mixed it 50/50 and spent nothing else on eliquids. Well. . .longer story shortened. Two month ago I ended up in the hospital for bowel surgery. Kept me 10 days, out for 4, then back in again, bowel resection leaked. Female surgeon can't sew for crap, (pun intended), so back in for 12 more days. Forgot to take my ecigs both stays in the hospitals. So, after 52 years of smoking tobacco cigarettes I say I ACCIDENTLY quit smoking by using ecigs. Now I don't smoke or vape. I don't think that I'm typical. That's my story and I'm a stickin to it.

Cheers,

The post by Stormwench is excellent. For me it is the process of changing out my habits that is the ongoing struggle. I use Blu ecigs for work and out and about. I have a larger setup at home. I like the Blu (any good cigalike would do) but it has trouble keeping up with me. I find myself using the vaping device more frequently than the number of times I smoked a cigarette during the day. But it is the process of replacing the times I smoked plus realizing that the way we use the vapor is different. In other words, creating a new habit to replace the old habit and without going broke buying equipment to do that. My goal was to do this replacement at a cost level that is the same or less than cigarettes. I live in an area where I have access to smokes that is relatively cheap compared to the reset of the country. My brand ran about $3.50 a pack. So I needed to create a sustainable habit where cartos, juices, blank cartos, replacement parts (like batteries) could be budgeted to be less than the $35 to $50 a week I was spending. I considered the intial outlay an investment. Got that worked out.

The next issue is flavor. A cigarette has the same flavor from beginning to end. Juices don’t last the length of the cartomizer vapor. I don’t have the patience to mess around with tanks and such so I may just have to learn to adjust.

The quitting of cigarettes became the situation of making a choice whenever the urge came up. I just did this instead of that. Eventually, vaping completely replaced smoking.
