I've been a pretty heavy smoker for about 15 years. I was lucky enough to try a vapor cig last week. Amazed.

I smoke camel lights, about 1.5 packs a day now. I am hoping a vapor cig might be a good alternative or method to help me cut back or quit entirely. I've done a little research, but hoping someone could point me towards a good brand or something. I'd prefer something with nicotine (if that's even an option) and equivalent to my smoke now.

Hi there,
I recently picked up my first e-cig and it has been great for me. I was at .5-1 pack of Am. Spirits a day and have not had one for since I started "vaping".

This thread will be helpful. http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...strated-guide-e-cigs-parts-1-through-6-a.html

I currently have 2 personal vaporizers. One for home use (joye510 from cignot.com), and one for going out (smoore 402 from absolutelyecigs.com). I am quite happy with both so far.

It has been much easier than I expected to drop the "analogs". I have been using 16mg nicotine juice, and that has worked fine for me.

Good luck and welcome.

It's the juice that has the nicotine content and you can order it in several strengths from 36 and above down to 0 mgs. I highly suggest you read the sticky posts on top of this section of the forums then you will be able to get an idea of what ecig will fit you best.

My choice was a KR808D-1 or KR8 as we are calling it now and the supplier I chose was Vapor4Life:: Because it's your life :: Electronic Cigarettes & Alternatives to Smoking the subforums for vapor4life is Vapor4Life - e-cigarette-forum.com • The place for electronic cigarette reviews, news and chat if you have questions.

I choose this product for the ease of use, throat hit and flavor. And I choose this supplier because of all the wonderful reviews and I couldn't be happier with my choice!

I smoked a pack of Marlboro Reds a day for over 20 years, and over the past month I've completely (painlessly) quit that habit by switching to vaping.

As Taryn mentioned, it's the "juice" or "niquid" that contains the nicotine solution, and it comes in a very wide range of flavors and strengths. I suggest aiming a bit higher (in terms of nic strength) than might first seem the obvious choice; personally, nothing below about 25 mg nicotine really satisfies. I may choose to cut down in time; for the moment, I'm just enjoying the fact that I'm no longer smoking.

Definitely read up here some more before you make any decisions! (especially The Wonderful World of Vaping link in ethirty's post.)

Judging from the bad experiences I've heard, don't go with the blu. A fancy website doesn't mean a good company.... Some of the best vendors have very basic sites and options but have absolutely stellar quality and prices.
As you'll find from looking at the suppliers recommended on the forum (including the long list of vendors with subforums here) there are many sellers who carry a wide variety of options.

Instead, decide on a common model (510, 901, 801, KR808d-1 ... they all go by a variety of brand names so it can be confusing, but they all have their fans here) and find a well-reviewed supplier here and go for it.
(as lawnman said, Drew at Nhaler.com is in NJ as well, and he's one of the good ones to give you advice and get you started. He offers a couple of different models plus some quality juices.)

If you get one of these major models, not only do you have a lot of vendors to choose from based on price and customer service, but you'll also be able to ask questions and find a lot of troubleshooting support here on the forum.

Try different nicotine liquids from different suppliers. There are tons of flavors, manufacturers, and options out there, and some great reviews in the E-Liquid Reviews subforum. It's way more economical and easy to buy juices to refill the cartridge yourself than it is to buy prefilled.

As others have said, you might have to try a fairly high nic level to give you satisfaction (judging from your habit now, many people find 18-24mg satisfying, but that's just a suggestion, not a rule).

Read, ask questions...and welcome! That's about it.

Howdy Mikey and Welcome Aboard.

As others have already said, you want to grab a beverage of your choice and read, read and read some more. I knew absolutely nothing about e-cigs until I came to this forum and spent hours upon days of searching and reading to learn everything I could about these devices. You've definitely come to the right place.

In a nutshell, you can get either a 2-piece model or a 3 piece. Both types have three (3) major components:

1 - A rechargeable battery to electrically power the device.
2 - An atomizer which is like a tiny eclectic "coil" that heats up to "vaporize" the juice.
3 - A cartridge which holds the juice.

The two 2-piece model has an atomizer and a cartridge combined into one piece and is normally sold and used as "non-refillable", another words you throw it away when empty of juice. But, there is almost always a way to refill them. I personally started with a KR808D-1 (2-piece) my first 10 days and had great success with it, then I ordered and now use a Joye 510, which is a 3-piece model.

Normally, a starter kit comes with pre-filled cartridges (called "carts" here) which I've seen contain an average of 18-24 mg of nicotine per cartridge. Generally speaking, a 24mg cart is equal to about a regular strength cigarette (called "analog" here) and 12-18 mg strength is considered equal to about a "light" analog. There are places/vendors where you can order the zero nicotine carts and juices, but now you would be defeating the purpose of using an e-cig (I like to call them "PV" for Personal Vaporizer) to start with. Your body needs the nicotine to satisfy your urge to smoke (for the most part) so you would need to start with probably a 24mg strength cart/juice.

Just like so many here, I did my research and found that one of the most popular and dependable models available right now is the Joye 510, a 3-piece model so that's what I purchased and have been in vaping heaven with for more than 6-weeks. I found the best deal at Cignot your Midwest Electronic Cigarette store., $35.00 for a great starter kit plus $5.00 for shipping. It comes with 2-rechargeable batts with charger, 2-atty's and 5-pre-filled 24mg Marlboro flavor carts.

Then there are a few additional "items" or accessories that you can get eventually, but not necessary right away. The most important thing though is to make sure you have enough juice to refill your carts with. A good start would be to also get a 15ml size or larger bottle of Marlboro flavor just to keep you going for a while (perhaps a couple of weeks) until you do more research to find the best flavor(s) to purchase and try.

One important thing to realize too is that about 90% of smoking is both habit and in your mind. You've got to train your brain to accept the new way of "smoking" which will be vaping, to accept the differences in use - no flame, no real smoke, no ashes, no butts, no smells, NO CANCER CAUSING CHEMICALS THAT WE KNOW OF, no more toxic chemicals (other than the nicotine) that we know about.

You will eventually, if not immediately QUIT SMOKING. I smoked anywhere from 1 to 2+ packs a day for more than 36 years and quit smoking analogs the INSTANT I took my first vape on a PV at 11:30 a.m. 4 November 2009, more than 52 days ago. You can do it too.

Ok, time to get off my soap box...

wow guys, thanks for the help. did a lot of reading. I bought the combo kit from cignot, it comes with 2 cigs, and a few other things. I also got the starter kit from blu, just to try some various options out.

Mikey - that should get you a good start, but.... in the case you didn't order ejuice along with the starter kits, it is a good idea to have some of that on hand. The cartridges that you will get will be good to start but they won't last very long and you'll need some ejuice to refill those cartridges - not a big deal - just remove the cartridge, drop juice from a squeeze bottle onto the cartridge filler -that fuzzy stuff. Don't overfill. And continue vaping. And as lawman pointed out, being in NJ a good place to get some samplers is from Nhaler:

HIGH VOLTAGE SAMPLERS 12Mg 6ml Plastic Dropper Bottles

This is a low cost way to try different flavors and the ones above are 12mg of nicotine - which is in the medium to low range. Then:

6 ML Nhale/Xhale Liquid Samplers - 24MG - NHaler

These are some of the same flavors (but you could try different ones for the broadest sampling) at 24mgs which is at the higher nicotine range.

And you can use a coupon code:
