Howdy
Mikey and Welcome Aboard.
As others have already said, you want to grab a beverage of your choice and read, read and read some more. I knew absolutely
nothing about e-cigs until I came to this forum and spent hours upon days of searching and reading to learn everything I could about these devices. You've definitely come to the right place.
In a nutshell, you can get either a 2-piece model or a 3 piece. Both types have three (3) major components:
1 - A rechargeable battery to electrically power the device.
2 - An atomizer which is like a tiny eclectic "coil" that heats up to "vaporize" the juice.
3 - A cartridge which holds the juice.
The two 2-piece model has an atomizer
and a cartridge combined into one piece and is normally sold and used as "non-refillable", another words you throw it away when empty of juice.
But, there is almost always a way to refill them. I personally started with a KR808D-1 (2-piece) my first 10 days and had great success with it, then I ordered and now use a Joye 510, which is a 3-piece model.
Normally, a starter kit comes with pre-filled cartridges (called "carts" here) which I've seen contain an average of 18-24 mg of nicotine per cartridge. Generally speaking, a 24mg cart is equal to about a regular strength cigarette (called "analog" here) and 12-18 mg strength is considered equal to about a "light" analog. There are places/vendors where you can order the zero nicotine carts and juices, but now you would be defeating the purpose of using an e-cig (I like to call them "PV" for Personal Vaporizer) to start with. Your body needs the nicotine to satisfy your urge to smoke (for the most part) so you would need to start with probably a 24mg strength cart/juice.
Just like so many here, I did my research and found that one of the most popular
and dependable models available right now is the Joye 510, a 3-piece model so that's what I purchased and have been in vaping heaven with for more than 6-weeks. I found the best deal at
Cignot your Midwest Electronic Cigarette store., $35.00 for a great starter kit plus $5.00 for shipping. It comes with 2-rechargeable batts with charger, 2-atty's and 5-pre-filled 24mg Marlboro flavor carts.
Then there are a few additional "items" or accessories that you can get eventually, but not necessary right away. The most important thing though is to make sure you have enough juice to refill your carts with. A good start would be to also get a 15ml size or larger bottle of Marlboro flavor just to keep you going for a while (perhaps a couple of weeks) until you do more research to find the best flavor(s) to purchase and try.
One important thing to realize too is that about 90% of smoking is both habit and in your mind. You've got to train your brain to accept the new way of "smoking" which will be vaping, to accept the differences in use - no flame, no real smoke, no ashes, no butts, no smells,
NO CANCER CAUSING CHEMICALS THAT WE KNOW OF, no more toxic chemicals (other than the nicotine) that we know about.
You will eventually, if not
immediately QUIT SMOKING. I smoked anywhere from 1 to 2+ packs a day for more than 36 years and quit smoking analogs
the INSTANT I took my first vape on a PV at 11:30 a.m. 4 November 2009, more than 52 days ago. You can do it too.
Ok, time to get off my soap box...
