Smoketip not really cutting it.

I love the concept of the e-cig, but my first starter kit just isn't cutting the mustard. I ordered and received a 6mg kit from Smoketip.com I have been smoking Winston Ultra Light 100's for the better part of twenty years, and I'm just tired of it.

From what I've read so far, I think I like the 2-piece design the best. Just seems more convenient to me, but it is the only version I have used. Am I wrong?

If/when I go away from the prefilled carts and start filling my own, what kind of cart/analog ratio can I expect? If I had to guess right now a prefilled cartridge is closer to 6-7 cigarettes than the 25 that smoketip claims.

I currently smoke 1-1.5 packs per day depending on how busy I am, and whether I am indoors or outside. How many batteries should I have to get through the day? What ever system I end up with will eventually include a pass through for when I'm sitting at the computer.

So, the holy grail for me would be a one battery, one cartridge per day e-cig. Since I don't believe that to be possible (at least not conveniently) currently, I'd like your suggestions on what route to go. Keeping in mind that I want a simple solution. Filling a handfull of cartridges at night would not be a problem. Having to mess with it during the work day means I'll probably stop and buy a pack of analogs.

I started with a mini e-cig (RN4081) which looks similar to what I see on smoketip.com. I purchased mine on an impulse from a mall kiosk (mistake #1), and took a lot of what the sales guy told me as truth (mistake #2).

My e-cig was a two-piece design with an automatic battery, and I was never really satisfied with the performance. I was told a cartridge was equal to about 1 pack of cigarettes. Like you, I found it closer to 5 cigarettes. I began refilling the empty cartridges, and given how small the juice reservoir was, I'd go through 4-5 carts in a day.

I might recommend going with a higher nicotine rating than 6mg. I was using 14mg and 18mg pre-filled carts, and while I went through them pretty quick, that seemed to be enough to get me off analogs within a few days.

I've since purchased a Joye 510 kit, and like it much better. The cartridges hold considerably more juice and produce a lot more vapor, giving my lungs a full sensation. I also purchased a PCC (personal charging case), which holds 2 extra cartridges, your atomizer with a third cartridge attached, and one battery. The case keeps the battery charged all day long.

It did take me a few days to get used to vaping over regular cigarettes. I now manually fill about 3 cartridges in the morning with Halo Freedom (18mg), and that gets me through the work day with no problem.

If you like the 2 piece then I recommend the kr-808d-1. It is an excellent device and Ikenvape has them for a pretty cheap price. I started with a 510 and it is an excellent pv pluss Cignot has a great price on them but they do require more filling and battery changing they are excellent to get you off butts. I smoked about 50yrs. and haven't used since I got it. I have since gone to the kr808d-1 cartos on my 510 and love it.

I smoked for almost 30 years and at my worst I smoked 2 packs a day. When i started E-cigs I was smoking about 3/4 to 1 pack a day.

I started with a RN4081 also and hated it! I then purchased a DSE 901 manuel kit and liked it much better.

May I suggest that you start out with a higher nicotine level like perhaps 18 or so to see if it is enough, if not you can get your next bottle with a higher level and it it is too much get some plain PG or VG liquid. VG liquid is thicker, produces more vapor and tastes slighly sweeter so, it is up to you. You can cut down the nicotine level of your e-liquid by adding say half E-liquid and half PG or VG not sure about the ration, but there are probably mixing charts somewhere on the forum.

I would suggest 3 batteries, I prefer manual batteries so you can pre-warm the atomizer before you vape, one that will be always charging and 2 to carry with you. You can also get a PCC unit that you can charge up and put your dead battery in there and it will charge it up while you are mobile and not near a power source. As far as carts, 2 is enough, you can refill one for a while until the filler is trashed. As for attys I suggest 2, one for a spare or to switch off to in case you flood one and need to let it drain.

I used Smoketip when I first started also and I found out that KR8's cartomizers will fit perfectly on Smoketip batteries and vice versa Smoketip carts will fit KR8 batteries. If you prefer the 2 piece design instead of messing with atomizers just order some higher strength cartomizers and a few bottles of eliquid because cartomizers can be refilled also. CigEasy has good deals on Kr8 full kits that include carts and a 10ml bottle of eliquid for $39, cheaper than what you paid for your Smoketip starter kit at $59.

you're going to run into this but i think there are a lot of opinions, heres mine.

i use the Joye 510 but with mods.

i have the laser battery from ikenvape. it holds a 3.7v 350mAh battery and lasts me all day and part of the night. it looks like a laser pointer hence the name.

for carts i use a standard round 510 cart with the polyfill BUT i made a slight mod to it. i cut it down to about 1/4 inch long i remove the filler when empty and fill the cart to almost the top then put the fill back in and add two or three more drops. (its important to remove before filling or the cart wont fill completely) (also it will be loose but wont come out, and no it doesnt flood) one cart will last me all day at work (8 hours) with normal breaks. i may have to top off if i go out for lunch and vape non-stop when out.

i either bring two carts and one laser battery or one setup and a bottle of juice. i havent run out yet and ive been doing it like this for a little over a month.

you can buy the 3.7v 350mAh batteries off the net for a few bucks each and they are rechargeable so a couple is all you need.

I know this is probley a dumb question but I am new to all of this and want to make sure I am doing things right. ( First mistake buying a e-cig from the mall) now I ask questions!

I have a 510 charging case (PCC) which I'm sure works the same. It has an internal battery much larger than the battery in your e-cig. When the case's battery is fully charged, you should be able to fully recharge your e-cig approx. 4-5 times. I carry my PCC with me all day, keeping the cigarette constantly charged. I only plug the case in at night.

I smoked 3 packs a day for 40 years. The first ecig I got was a Nipro. That didn't work. I then got a 510 and loved it. I tried refilling carts but it got to be a real chore. Then I started dripping. You an get a T-tip from Super T manufacturing and you don't have to take the cap off. When it get dry I just drip 2-3 drops onto the atomizer and your ready to go.

I have been smoke free for 11 months. If I can do it anybody can.

I am a newbie, only a couple of weeks into vaping now. But I am surprised by the OPs (and some follow on posters) feeling that the SmokeTip carts seems to only be equivalent to 6 -7 analogs. I started my recent adventure in vaping with the SmokeTip and I thought their claims of 1.25 packs per cartridge was pretty close.

But this got me to thinking about what do we even mean when we talk about such equivalencies. Do we mean number of puffs? Amount of nicotine delivered (and then over what time frame)? It seems like it would pretty hard to come up with some of these numbers. I count about 10-12 puffs per analog, but I am not going to try to count how many puffs I get out of a ST cart. I have no idea how much nicotine was being delivered per puff either with my analogs or the ST e-cig.

Of course I find, as I expect many others do, that my vaping habits are not exactly the same as when I am smoking. For example, since I can vape in many more places (at my desk at work for example) I would seem to be vaping a lot more puffs than I was smoking. But on the other hand, I can vape for a few puffs and then quit as opposed to lighting a analog which of course I would always smoke until it was completed. So I am not sure what the net affect is on number of puffs I take per day.

But I do know this. A cart lasts me just a little less than a full day which is pretty close to what a pack of analogs lasts for me under normal circumstances (i.e. not out at the bar with friends, which ups my smoking and now vaping considerably). And since I feel like I am getting about the same nicotine per day, I am comfortable saying that one ST cart = 1 pack of analogs. I bit less than the 1.25 packs claimed by ST, but not too far off.

Well, that is just my experience given mainly for those out there considering a ST. I am VERY pleased with my ST purchase. That doesn't mean that I am not already thinking about trying other choices, of course.
