smoking in the er

Took my brother to the ER last weekend. Granted, I worked their for four years, but there's still a few I don't know because I haven't been in that section of the hospital for a year or so. While we were waiting a unit clerk friend of mine came in and asked if I got my e-cig. I said yes. Of course, my brother and I had been discreetly puffing on it. I told her to stand in front of the door to block view and showed her. She tripped, grabbed a nurse. Showed him. He tripped, grabbed a PA. Showed him.
I was being discreet because I didn't want patient's to see and get the wrong idea. It was good.
I do it in front of the people I know I can. But vaping is getting to be such a habit, it's like a security blanket in the palm of my hand. I was in Walmart for about an hour and realized I'd had it in hand the entire time. I scrambled to think back. Had I vaped in the store??? I don't want to subconciously vape in the wrong place. Yes, I know there's really no "wrong" place, but I think you also have to be in the mood for a lengthy presentation.
The ER experience was good. I would just like to get enough people knowing about it that they don't make a big deal and forbid me from doing it.

Hahahaha nice story! I was walking around the supermarket the other day, of course the pink 901 was in my hand and because I was with a friend I regularly vape with I put it up to my mouth and suddenly realised what I was doing, the security guard was nearby!! I have accidentally vaped in my shop on the shop floor more than once and demonstrated it there too and on the way down the stairs before turning the corner onto it I have a vape!

I vaped in the corner shop but I don't think they care. When I am bored I vape and then blow it out through a straw or a tube of gift wrap hehehee! I also blow my vapour out into plastic tubs or cups and watch what happens which is fun! When I vaped before in one I left it for half an hour and the smoke had gone and it looked like cobwebs in the bottom!! It wiped off very easily just a wet residue. I like to experiment with my ecigs hehe

Accidently is right. I seem to subconciously pull the e-cig from my back pocket and just start vaping. So far I haven't been tackled. Really and truly, I forget!

No kidding! I gotta try that. What is that? The cobwebs? I'll try it and see what you mean.

The coolest thing I've noticed is that I can do family activities for longer than I used to. Used to be we would play family games and I'm up ever ten minutes or so to smoke by the open door while I call out answers. Now I seem to play forever, vaping away.
When I REALLY feel the urge for an analog, I excuse myself, run out to the garage, take a couple hits, then ask myself, "Was it as good as you though it'd be?"
Then put it out and run back in.
I feel like I'm in a exciting new world.
I guess to most people it doesn't seem like a big deal. To them, all I can say is, "Man, you have no idea."
If this works, if I actually STOPPED smoking???
Fuggitaboutit--words cannot even express.

I've thought about maybe vaping at work one day (in a hospital, at the nurse's station maybe) but I'm afraid it might somehow set off a smoke alarm; I read here that some are sensitive to changes in air density, smoke or not. Anyway, with this economy its not worth risking getting in trouble, so I think I'll stick to the outdoors at work. I am curious to see the reactions, though, in the grocery store, Barnes and Noble, etc etc

I find it's best to let the people know what you're doing before you do it. At work, in individual settings, I showed ecig. A week later in a meeting, I realized everyone present was aware of it, so without making a big deal, I went ahead and vaped. No one said anything.
I think one problem being on the floor, Heart's, is that patients and visitors don't know. That changes the game. I don't vape on the floor or in the halls.
I don't vape in meetings where higher ups are unaware because then I have to explain. And even if they approved, it takes away from work time and I'm sure they don't want to spend 15 minutes of a 30 minute meeting talking about my kicking the habit.
It'll mainstream eventually.

In all honesty, I'm still a bit embarassed by the need to suck on something (an adult pacifier?) and blow something that looks like smoke from my nose and mouth. The antis have devoted much energy to belittling the "chic" image that smokers once enjoyed. They've turned it 180 degrees. We're scum.

And we tip the hat that we're scum by the frequent need to suck an addictive drug into our lungs. It just ain't cool anymore ...

So I'm very discreet. I'm an addict. I know that. I'd rather the whole world didn't. There's a time and a place for everything, it's said. Right now is not the time; in public is not the place.

We'll see what the future brings.

Last night was having coffee with my friends in the lobby of Sheraton hotel, Edinburgh. I asked the waitress if she had an idea about the e-cig, she said no. then I explained it to her (I read good advices about what to say here in the forum) , she said I’ll see what the manger says. After about two minutes she came back and said the manger said it is ok to smoke :)

That was my first time smoking in public area.

I noticed that people setting in the next table didn’t show any negative reaction. Was nice experience :)
