Just had to share a quick story. Went out to a couple bars last night and had no problem vaping the night away. Got lots of questions from some of my group of friends, but at this point a lot of people know what ecigs are. They just want details about how they work, etc.

In MI the new smoking ban doesn't allow it anywhere that employees of the bar/restaurant are. This includes outdoor patios (I know, it's stupid) so even they are smoke free . At the first bar I was out I only vaped on the patio. A few employees were looking at me and really didn't seem to care. Then some guy comes out and sees the vapor and says "screw it, I'm having a smoke too." I told him I wasn't smoking and he said, "oh yeah, I know that's an electronic thingy." He proceeded to light up and pretty much right away one of the waitresses told him he couldn't smoke on the patio. Didn't say a word to me even though I was still vaping. He had to put it out and I just continued to vape away.

After that I went to another bar and vaped inside. The bartender saw and didn't say a word, and the doorman was a couple feet away but also did not object. I think it depends on the place but it seems vaping may be getting more acceptance.

I've had similar experiences. Employees surprisingly seem to note it, but mind their own business. Recently I said 'screw it' and vaped in a dept. store. Again, employees seemed to take note out of the corner of their eyes, but just ignored it. One elderly women did say I couldn't smoke as I passed her. I just showed her the e-cig and she said she was sorry. I'm sure there will be many varied experiences, but after a year of vaping (albeit without flaunting), no one has asked me to refrain.
