It's more than Clapton unfriendly. It's any large gauge unfriendly. It has little to no room for wire. I had to pound the ends flat on my coils to get it to fit. Idk.... It just seems like it isn't as well built as I would of thought.

I'm still vaping on it to see if it's for me.... I may try a different coil build later. I just finished my tri ribbon twisted coil wire. I may throw that in there and see how it runs. One thing I have observed so far is that the wick dries out after only a few hits and I have to "prime" it again or let it sit a few minutes for the juice to wick....
I just do 24g, 6 wraps at 2.5mm x2, k.i.s.s!:p

The website is still taking submissions it seems...
The Giveaway is over. Sorry about that. the original link is: http://www.smoktech.com/hotnews/events/300-cloud-machine-kits-giveaway . Many of us have already gotten our winnings.

From what I've seen, for it's price point, it is definitely a good device. I have been using mine for a while, and I have some positive and negative things about it, but when I consider the other devices for it's pricepoint, it clearly is on the top 5 for it's price. Like everything in life, there are some plusses and minuses. To me, it is a very good "at home cloud chasing" device. It's a bit too heavy and the button too large for it to be a good carry a long mod for everyday use.

what would make it better IMO? 1) give it a standard but flush button arrangement for the primary fire button, 2) make it alluminium, 3) keep the chipset and electronics the same... the menu, upgradability, and options are top of the line. 4) Instead of pulsing the power on/off for temp control, raise/lower the joule rating as needed.

Just got it, this device is a true beast, so far so good, but the fire button gets stuck sometimes, hope it'll go away with usage.
Thank you Smok, Oliver and ECF!!!
Edit 1: Holy crap, this thing has burnt 5 ml of juice in just 1 vaping session

Yes.... It is definately a juice hog... surprised me when I used it. As far as the sticky button, I have heard that If you loosen the screws on the top or bottom ever so slightly, it will fix it. I have learned that mine sticks more on the top than the bottom, so I fire it from the bottom side of the mod.

Yeah, mine only sticks on the top too
Edit: WOW, the screw loosing technique worked flawlessly, no more stickiness.
Thanks!

Mine was really sticky when I got it, to the point that it would stay firing until I jiggled it a bit.
I loosened the screws at the top, which was when I noticed the top plate was bent downwards and rubbing the top of the fire bar.
The only way I could have fixed it would be to remove the top plate and totally disconnect it, and hammer out the bend.
There's no way I would have done that, so I just ignored it.
It has loosened a lot now, it only sticks if I release the fire bar at a certain angle.

I just looked on the smoktech web page and update 1.093 is out and brings the xcubeii up 180 watts. do I head 200?

That update has been out for a week or longer now.

I don't know if they have a plan to go to 200 watts or not. I imagine there could be some hardware limitations with the circuit board and heat that will limit the power. I'd guess they are or have done internal testing at 200 watts and beyond to find the breaking point.

Personally I don't see the point. I've only taken my device up to 120 watts for funs a couple times. I took it to 180 watts once and immediately burnt up a 3 day old quad coil after a 2 second puff - so I mostly stay around 80-90 watts. Would rather see them work on some app bugs then worry about pushing more power.

If you have a vice, I'd try straightening it... I would put two pieces of wood on both sides as not to scratch it up, then close the vice. It will dig into the wood, but it won't scratch it up. It also won't make it perfectly straight.

Mine is a bit stranger... I don't have any allen screws to fit in it to take it off, but I can see the bend as well. on the long sides, one side looks perfectly straight, while the other side looks like it has an ever so slight bend in it. This is on the top side. I've grown used to just pushing it from the bottom, so it doesn't stick. I have tried lubing it, and it helped just a bit...but still sticks oonce in a blue moon.. which is too much for me.

Same here with one side bent a lot more than the other.
I don't have a vice, I'd struggle to use one even if I did, I can't stand or walk for long, and can't lift or push much weight, what with being disabled.

I just updated to the 180 watt and just for S&G I ran it at 180 for a few puffs on my dub RDA. Holy cow why God?

I know there is a reason for it.... I just don't have one right now.

I'd like to see them update the hardware to make the 5 click "lockout" actually lockout everything so that way it doesn't go into the settings in my pocket... That would be nice....

I'm not sure why. The last time I was in my local brick and mortar store a customer had a snow wolf 200 that they were playing with at 200 watts. Was insane. The mod actually got so hot that it would burn you and the dripper they were using literally blistered the store owners lips taking a hit. I think the reasoning behind what I witnessed had to do with the mod pulsing at high wattages, but I'm not entirely sure as I walked in mid conversation.

I'm happy between 70 and 120 watts. I do like the fact the x cube 2 can go to 160 (or now 180) watts because I don't like maxing anything out. It has been my general life experience that when you max out things the wear and tear shortens life spans considerably. So I'm happy to use my 180 watt mod at 90 watts or 50% and suspect that will lead to a longer life - at least I hope!
