Hey everyone,

Did about 5 recoils today still with no luck , the hotspot seems to be persisting particularly the top part. Is there any tips that I should be looking out or any recommended videos particularly on hotspot fixing?

Have you looked at Ricks videos on youtube? He has a three part genesis set up video that is really helpful. The audio kind of sucks but he makes up for it in the comments section. I'll post a link tomorrow when I get on the computer but I found him off some random extreme vaping search.

I've found that if you get the a SS mesh wick JUST right, it only needs tilting when the tank starts to get low. The last time I had my RSST running, I wrapped a slightly loose mesh 'straw' that barely filled the wick hole. I wrapped a .8 ohm coil and and I was able to keep the wick wet for all but the most spirited draw or power chain vaping. Then I started to run low in my fav gennie juice so I put it away while I work on getting a refill. :)

Just to say the cap reducer insert arrived today and it certainly does what its supposed to do, reduce the time it takes to fill the chamber. This was something that bugged me from day one, i'm not a fan of having to wait a few secs to get a half decent vape and it just seemed to under perform compared to other attys i have. However, i can say with honesty that this issue is no longer and there is a marked increase in vapour heat, difficult to say if flavour has improved though time will tell...highly recommend this mod it's turned night into day.
cheers

Done anyone have a silver plated positive post for the RSST to sell to me or trade for something? Or know where I can buy one from right now (in stock)?

If you haven't got one on the way yet, you can try emailing Greg the owner of Ninja Mods who sells the silver plated post. He is still working on getting a payment system setup on his new site.

Here is his new website:

You can get his email from the Ninja Mods FB page or message him on FB too.

Voltage drop.. the effect is pretty devious. :)

I'll give you my own experience... I got aggravated about the vape time I got on my 18650 batteries with my .7 ohm dual coil Nimbus clone... The vape would tail off WAYYYYY too fast. When I next put a full batt on there, I realized there was a .4v voltage drop.... long story short, the vape would tail off REALLY fast since by the time the battery hit the meaty part of the voltage curve, the power I was putting to the coil dropped to like 15 w (7.5 w per coil... meh..) Now, I've since dropped the resistance to 0.6 ohms and got a substantial increase in vape time.

I could get the same benefits if I also reduced the voltage drop... You can 'increase' battery life by extending your vape time to include more of the battery's usable charge. You often are drawing MORE current, but you don't have to pull them so quickly. The benefit increases the lower in resistance you go.... so reducing the V-drop is HUGE with the extreme sub-ohm crowd.

After much fiddling around I'm at last settled on this arrangement - draw tube mod, silver plated screw, top cap insert, copper band airflow control. The screw adjuster at the back kinda acts like a seat when I put it down, will leave as is i reckon..i image.jpg

Okay, so I have been frustrated in my micro-coil efforts with my RSST, since the wick seems to struggle to "keep up" with the coil.

Here is my solution.

I have really enjoyed this rich, thick vapor production from this little 1.9 ohm micro-coil at 4 volts. It really is staggering how much vapor is produced from it...

How large do you guys make the hole in the top cap?

Also EW your coil is 30 gauge around a 1/16? I find mesh doesn't wick enough and leaks out the top is I have it tilted a lot.

Trying to find a good method that works and doesn't leak...

I use a 3/32 drill bit for this one. I found the 1/16 drill bit size was just too small to run a big enough piece of cotton through and it was a pain keeping the cotton saturated with constant tipping, fretting, checking, etc. With the 3/32 diameter, I don't worry.

It is 30 guage wire, and the one in the picture is either 6/7 or 7/8. 6/7 usually comes out close to two ohms, 7/8 around 2.2 or 2.3. The ohms don't really bother me much either way. I only worry about ohms when doing a dual coil rig and I want them to match.

EDIT:
I just looked at the picture. That is my 8/9 first coil. It was a 2.5 ohm coil I do believe. Sorry about the misinformation.

Did you use yarn or cotton balls?
