Got an RSST a couple days ago. Sunning a six wrap 28g micro coil and cotton wick. 1.2ohms. Opened up the airhole a bit. Decent clouds, but not much flavor...

What size did you wrap the coil? Just curious... I just wrapped an 8 wrap with 28g, came out to 1 ohm on a 1/16th bit. For more flavor, get a chamber reducer or stuff a cotton ball in the top cap in the shape of horse shoe.

For some reason I started losing flavor in mine as well. SS wick seems to have cured this with a ribbon nichrome 4/3 wrap that ended up 2.5ohms. Not the best setup whatsoever, but it worked.

I've loved my rsst ever since i got it. I originally stuck to 0.8 ohm coils and messing with the airhole to a 3/32", but i found a lot of flavor drop because of that huge chamber in the top cap. From what I've experienced, it seems like just getting whatever wicks extremely fast and well with a ridiculously low ohm coil would be the only way to vape with it. It's been at 0.2-0.3 ohms, the metal insulator popped off with a ss cable wick stuffed into the hole, and a 1/8" airhole for a while. Now that I've bought a silver plated brass center post from ninjamods and the rsst chamber reducer by fuzionmods (which was a combined total of about $16 give or take), I can stuff the 3/32" ss cable into a 3mm hollowed ekowool sleeve. With a 3/4 wrap of 24 ga kanthal it's at a good 0.45 ohms and a flavorful vape with great clouds.

Going from a cobra to the rsst was a bit saddening because i couldn't dual wick and coil it or u wick it. But there's massive potential for this neat and cheap little guy with lots of upgrade options including the ss tank.

The only problem I actually have with it is the fact that the tank will completely empty out on me if i leave it on its side in my daypack, so it's mainly for my terrible addiction to dripping and driving.

I have read that flavor profiles change with NiChrome...

Flavor will drop off with drilling the air hole out larger. The larger air holes in top caps are good for producing those huge clouds many desire, but flavor is sacrificed in doing so...

Just took the plunge and ordered one of these our of curiosity after using primarily Protanks for the last 7 or 8 months (pretty much the entire time I've been vaping). My only hesitation is not knowing how my Vamos will handle it. Is that really even something to be concerned about? Will I need a mech mod, or will the Vamo work fine?

I only run my RSST on my vamo. I aim for 1.3 ohms because at 1.2 you have a 50/50 chance of it saying low ohms. I have made a 1.2 ohm and needed to dry fire and compress or adjust it and it dropped to 1.1 and I had to fiddle with it for quite a bit more time than I wanted to. I used 28 gauge kanthal wrapped 7-8 times on a 1/16" drill bit and compressed to a microcoil. My coil is horizontal and has cotton that goes into the wick hole but not into the tank and the other end of the wick is turned under the coil. I bored the airhole to 1/8" which i dont recommend (you can't undrill a hole). Surprisingly enough I have decent flavor and awesome vapor but no TH. If I hadn't bored that airhole so much it would be perfect for me.

Put some cotton in the cap. Flavor seems to have improved since yesterday. I wrapped the coil on an allen key, what ever the next size up from 1/16 is...

I didn't but I had read about RSST's leaking from the deck down thru the centerpost. I searched for "RSST Leak Fix" and came up with a couple of solutions. I ended up wrapping the center post just below the deck with about 5" of teflon plumbers tape which sealed up the space between the tank and post where the juice was running down. No juice on the connector in 2 months so far.

Jimbo

Had/have the same issue with mine. I thought there was a tiny crack in the tank, so ordered a replacement tank, but having the same issue. I'll have to try the plumber's tape thing as well. Great performance otherwise.

So, since I've got one of these coming now, I've read, ahem, about half of this thread now and I have a question. I use Protanks with cotton, and I like a pretty good hit, so I vape 24 mg exclusively. It sounds like though, that's gonna kill with this delivery. Should I get some lower nic to try first? What nic should I get to most closely approximate Protank/24?

What I read is that you should knock about a third off, so buy two strengths and mix? 8mg + 24 mg / 2 = 16mg. Do small batches of mixed, and adjust to what you need.

What I did originally was cut my liquid down with some straight VG. That was because of how much I had on hand. I just couldn't see purchasing more at the time and also didn't know if I would be satisfied with a lower nic level. It probably took it down somewhere between 16-18mg at first, but eventually I was buying 11mg. It seems to work ok for me, but am thinking of going down to 6mg in the near future. At times it can seem to be a little much. It all depends on what setup I am vaping. I kinda build my coils around what supplies I have on hand and what liquid I am using.
