Got an RSST to replace the AGA-T2 i had so much trouble with, i did the same process on the RSST and within 20 mins it works perfectly, apart from leaking from the 510 at the bottom, not noticed it anywhere else yet, drilled the airhole out to 1.2mm as 1mm was way too tight and made it quite harsh. Once i stop it from leaking ill be a happy chappy till i can grab an AC9 or a Fogatti.

i just got my rsst in from the trade i made a few days ago. i wrapped a coil measuring in at 1.6 ohms and put in on my itaste svd. running it around 3.7 volts. After a couple vapes i get a really burnt taste. any advise on what i'm doing wrong. this is my first rba and very first coil i have ever made. not sure what gauge the wire is it came with the trade. The ss mesh was pre oxidized and pre rolled so i didn't put a torch to it.

Did you check for hot spots/shorts?

Also, make sure that while you are vaping, the wick is on the bottom side of the tank, submerged in juice.

hot spots i understand but how do you check for shorts?

One thing to watch out for is making sure your wick is a tad bit shorter than the center post....it can short out on the top cap

I am running mine on a VW unit so i can dial the coil in...after I am sure it is stable i move it to a bolt or another mech...I use 5/4 wrap of 32 on a 400# fatty straw wick...i get 1.6-1.9 with that build and I keep the fill plug in...works very well.

Just set up a RSST using a pre-rolled #500 SS mesh from my AGA T2s (a bit long), 30g kanthal, 3/4 wrap, yielded a resistance of 1.2 ohms. Running at 3.6 volts.

The RSST is a sweet little genny. Much prefer the look of the RSST over the AGA T2. On my first tank and it's terrific. Hopefully, as the coil/wick assembly seasons a bit, it with get even better.

The RSST is a definite must have for a first time genny style RBA.

I would suggest always re-oxy anything you haven't done yourself. Learned this the hard way with a few Z-Atty's and Zen's.

Had my RSST for about a month now and really still enjoying it. OK getting slightly less use now than when I got it originally but my it looks fine on my PAPS.

O think this is a keeper....well not that I sell one any of the Chinese one's tend to keep them as back ups for the more expensive one's and for use when traveling or say fishing when I really do not want a $150 odd geny taking a drink.

Just made a 1.0 ohm coil 30 kanthal oxidized 500 ss mesh wick on the RSST but the neg lead on the coil glows is that normal

As the wick hole is isolated you will see glowing initially from both negative and positive connection on the RSST where as with non isolated wicks the glow starts at the positive post.

If it is glowing on the wick give it a nudge or pulse fire as you may have a small hot spot on there.

I really really like this thing.. I like the looks, the size, the ease of setup. But like someone posted (I think on this thread) I'm getting an odd taste that I don't get from my other gennys. Not quite "plasticy" but definitely different, especially after the juice has been in there for awhile. It's not my juice because I'm using the same juice in other devices. I don't know why it would be the wick.. I've washed it in hot soapy water a couple times (the tank, not the wick LOL). I may take the wick out and roll another to see if it makes a difference.. been wanting to try the hybrid wick anyway.
I remember back when lots of use were running to tractor supply to get syringes to make our own "syringe" carto tanks. The syringes I bought obviously had rubber stoppers instead of vinyl because after a little while, the rubber would taint the juice and it was unvapable.. tasted like vaping pure rubber. I only heard of a couple other people experiencing this so I figured maybe it was just me.

I really hope that the taste I'm getting isn't coming from the material used to make the tank. I've used polycarb and polyprop successfully in the past with no odd tastes. Right now, it's not unvapable, just not as enjoyable as my others and it's finding itself sitting unused.

The design of the tank means you won't be able to replace it with a syringe. It is shaped like a carto tank with the top taken off. This gives the benefit of not having to be concerned about your stainless wick touching the bottom of the tank as it is electrically isolated however going to be tricky to replace. Not certain as to the state of play regards spares.

I would empty your tank. Take the atty apart and wash in warm water followed by a very with iso alcohol dip then back to warm water. Dry and see if it has gone away.

If it was a glass tank I would give it an iso bath then warm water. I clean all new, and new to me, geny's just to make certain everything is good.

Made the mistake of wicking, filling and vaping one that had some oil from manufacture hanging around....yeah just take a few minutes and clean it properly before using.

LOL.. I wasn't wanting to replace my tank with a piece off a syringe, just using that as an example of how I've had juice tainted with the material it comes in contact with. The tank is soaking in Dawn right now.. I'll give it an alcohol dip and wash it agian.

has anyone seen the replacement spring and washers for sale anywhere? I love the spring loaded capture design and while my rsst was apart and soaking... I stole the washer and put a spring (from an ink pen) on the center post on the DID and topped it with the rsst washer and a screw and it's working great.. much easier to set up. The spring from the rsst was a bit too tall for the did and the spring from the pen is a tiny bit wide but it's working nicely.

But now my rsst is unusable because it's washer is on the DID that I don't want to take apart

I went hunting and found these washers.. might order some in different sizes to see if they work. This takes me back to the days I went hunting for parts to build carto tanks .. oh the memories LOL. I bet I have a hundred thumb screws that I trialed for fill hole screws.

I don't know what the wick-hole insulator is made of, but is it possible that as the ss wick heats up, especially on a drier hit, that heat is causing the insulator to impart a bad taste? I mean, that thing is right in contact with the juice flow. I don't know, just wondering aloud. Perhaps, if the new wick doesn't help, removing the insulator might be something to test next???
