BTW, dhomes, read some reviews on the MNKE 1500mah 18650. That is the battery for mechanical. Also, my limited experience leaves me disappointed with my AW 18650 2000mah; but quite happy with the little guys, the 18350s, Efest and AW brands.

Hey pdib, yeah I'm a total noob when it comes to protected batteries
for my provaris though, AW & EFEST IMR have both been great (haven't had the chance to try the Panasonics Hybrid yet)
but 1500mah? isn't that little low for a 18650? I plan on running fairly low coils (around 1 ohm) so the charge time wont be that great i assume

Well, if you are looking for a kick in the pants from a low resistance setup, and not just the first three snorts . . . . . check out the product reviews at avidvaper. These batteries deliver (literally) the amps mo bettah. Maybe its because there is more room in there for the little battery elves to line up properly? (Kind of nooby myself)
pdib, yeah, that's how i like to build my phoenixes, about 1 ohm on SS Mesh. they hit fast and hard on a Provari.
I also have Genesis style RBA which I run somewhere b/w 1.6 and 1.8, those are more like cigars
But I do prefer the quick hits the very low resistance devices give me. it's much more close to the old feeling of an analog (heat and delivery speed)
both give good vapor and flavor, it's just a matter of the experience of taking a drag itself

I got my flat top the other day and it's a nice piece. If I had any negative points it would be the flimsy button. It feels kinda crunchy but it has smoothed out a little since yesterday. Everything else is good, it's built like a tank as far as the tube and I like the fact that the whole thing can be disassembled. For the price, it's a good mechanical to start with if you just want one to see what all the fuss is about.
i just got my flat top Natural on Friday, love the feel and look of it. Hows the Kick working out for you? Are you using 18500 button tops or flat top batteries?
Are your flat tops plain or decorated? Can't find the plain flat top for sale but there's loads of pics of it around the web.
anyone test the voltage on this? I saw a video saying it has a .36 voltage drop. I prefer brass contacts in my mechanicals due to better conductivity than stainless. I was gunna pick one up for a beater but when I saw that drop I dropped this from the list. would love to know what everyone who has tested it came up with.
Just wanted to give you a comment on the IMR batteries you have. Basically IMR batteries are high drain and made of a chemistry that does not need "protection" you have exactly what you need for batteries in a mechanical mod. I run efest 18350 IMR batteries full time on a .8 ohm coil in a AGA T on a Chi Chi. I also use an 18650 panny but essentially AW Efest and Panny IMR or Hybrid will all work great.
The new kid on the block seems to be these MNKE batteries but I did some research on them and if you go that route make sure they are orange and have a mnke logo not just the name. There are clones of these going around reported on the Candlelight forums most I think are blue. The lower mAh batteries do tend to be better chemistry and power delivery to a point, if you are looking at a 3000 mAh 18650 and a 2000 mAh one there is a price for the mAh difference and thats usually how hard it can push current.
Just thought I'd throw this in for you. One way to get the natural to match the AGA T (early editions like I have) would be to follow the steps in this thread:

I stopped at 220 grit sand paper, somewhere between that and 300 or so would match the natural perfectly from the one my buddy got.
here's what mine turned out like:
This one is on top of a Chi Chi that I gave the same treatment, which revealed some copper and brass.
Basically you need a Drill and an old 510 atty, all of the connections in the AGA once you take it apart, will fit on a 510 which you put in the drill chuck and spin away.

I have to 2000mah EFest in mine and it fits perfect. With a shortstop on it the case won't screw all the way together. If that helps.
Got my new natural and aga -t plus. Gotta say even with the voltage drop this set up is pretty sweet. All for around 80 buck. Thats not to bad. Took a file and filed down the female 510 on the top cap. Then filed down the positive pin so the aga sits flush. Gave the aga a nice brushed finish to match also. Just gotta figure out some brass contacts and it'll be hittin even better.
Give us some numbers for the voltage drop...

Well I didnt test the volage yet. I was just going off what I read in another thread that stated it was a .36 drop. the connector is SS. Just filed down the connector and pin on the mod itself. I screwed the aga on once the top was flush then filed the positive pin (the screw in the top with the plastic threads) until it screwed in tight against the aga and the battery fit with no gaps.
