I have the black one, and i take care of all my mods in general. After 4 months or so the end-cap paint was chipping, so i removed it completely. Initially i was hapilly thinking " oh, nice, an occasion in wich the chinese say chrome and it's chrome , not nickel plated " , as i destroy any nickel plating in no-time.. but i think it's starting to get eaten away, just slower.

Hi everyone! I just got my vmax on Monday so still new to it. I was using a vv 14500 box mod and this vmax puts it to shame. A few things I was wondering about. when I purchased it from vapor beast I also ordered some prepunched 3.0 ohm smokteck dc cartos, everyone of them I've tried taste very burnt, used 3 of the 5, only using the 3.5 v setting on the vmax. I've only made it page 34 of this post so someone may have anwered this allready.

First check and see that they are indeed 3 ohm, then try to determine if they are dual coil or single. I am assuming that you are getting them soaked good before firing. Once I bought some 2.0 ohm dual coil cartos which is two 4 ohm coils but actually they were 2.0 single coil cartos, I described the taste as arc welding (@ 6 volts). Maybe you have some 1.5's single coils due to a similiar mix up by the supplier. I use Fusion 3.0 ohm single coil cartos @ 3.5 volts with no problem. Meter them or set your Max to display ohms, and let us know what you find.

If they start out working good and start tasting burnt after using them for a while try increasing hole size or punch more holes or buy with more holes.

You may have tried it at 3.0v and moved up... so maybe not the issue, but i think the 3.0 Ohm carto's are able to be used at "normal" voltages. Try it at 3.0v. (which is higher actually).

Ok I'm rethinking my Vmax (again). To make a long story short I wound up putting a SR boge carto in my new tank. I thought it was a LR. Since going to a higher resistance on the carto it made all the difference in the world in taste and flavor. It's like having a complete different pv. So since I finally figured out after all this time that I was trying to go low instead of high the relationship is back on. Oh and don't ask what voltage i'm using cause I really couldn't tell ya. Finally gave up and just started playing with it till it got right. Took me long enough for all that to sink in. Now maybe a Zmax is in the future. Hummmmmmmmmmmmm.

Gratz on your purchase of one of the best PVs out there :). The problem is...cartomizers. The VMax has a notorious voltage spike that fires the coil up super fast and super hot...the juice can't keep up, thus the ye ol burnt taste. I fear that the only solution to your problem is to switch to clearomizers or something other than your standard cartomizer. You could also go higher in ohms. If that's not a option for you then take the VMax down to the lowest voltage setting, soak the holy hell out of the carto and take shorter drags.

Vmax says it's 3.0ohm on all 3 that I tried. I did start at 3 volts but went up to 3.5 to get the vapor production. I also tried a smok teck dc 1.5ohn and it started out fine but then started to get the burnt taste. Bigger holes might be the fix. My boge 2.0ohm single coil seems to work great but are the black with no holes for the tank. Looks like I might be going to Lowes for a punch!

I've been using a RBA for months now with SS mesh or silica and no problems at all on the V1 or V2/R4 VMax.

Are you still using the Phoenix style RBA with the same success you originally wrote about some time back? Never had any luck with mine. :)

Curious if you've had a chance to try the Vision Eternity RBA Busardo has given such high marks?

OT... i have a Fatty RBA, and it uses a slica wick and just some k wire (same thing for my Spheroid). If I were to try adding some ss mesh to the silica, say like over it, would it be ok? I mean like would it cause a short or something? DOn't want to mess anythinng up but I've seen something like that kind of setup.

I've tried a few other RBAs but I keep going back to the Phoenix with SS mesh around silica wick...it gives me the best vape I ever had by far. Every toke is like a breath of heaven lol.

As long as the ohms stay stable while vaping then you should have no issues at all.

The little Bulli clones have been in my rotation for a number of weeks now, have 5 of them. Work really well. Can rebuild these things in like 5 mins now. Give it another shot Errol. Be sure to trim one of the coil legs down a bit shorter than the other one and insert the longer one first into the nearest post, then the other. Pull the legs taught, tighten screws, and then space the coils, then stuff the wick. To be honest, I'm a big SS fan, but regular Silica works the best in these little things for a fiddle free vape and quick coil replacement.

I'll give it another try just to see what I may be missing.

I find it hard to resist all the shiny new toys so I'll probably also try the Vision Eternity and AGA or the AGA-T that I've been reading good things about. :)

So what is the issues with vmax's that people don't like them more

Only problem I can find is that they run hot. 3.0v on a Vmax is like 5.0V on a Provari, lol This is my second one and I have a Z on the way, so I'm pretty fond of them, myself. Just don't use a very low resistance single coil carto on them and they're golden, IMO

I actually have switched from Boge to Liquid Express's (LX) custom STD SS cartos. They seem to be like the old Boges but with tighter QA and a bit more life out of 'em. The STD seem to be 2.6~2.9 ohm which works for me on the Maxs.
