Have any of ya'll tried to sand down and polish the black or silver V-Max yet? Just wondering what it looks like if it's brass right under the paint or if it has some kinda chrome coating. I sanded down my V1 LavaTube and polished it...looks just like the chrome ones. Thinking about doing it to the V-Max.

that's actually pretty close... sure .4 v is not just a little bit more, but a 3.0 Ohm at 3v? even 3.4v is considered low for a 3 Ohm coil. not disagreeing, just saying that the V2 is powerful TOO imo.
I have both vmax version, v1 and v2:D they both kick ... BUT the v2 seems to be a tad bit toned down. I'm using a 3ohm carto with a mom and pop mini sub, vaperite organic 100%vg kona cream. On vmax v1 I find the sweet spot to be at 3v lol but on the vmax v2 3.4v on the same setup and juice is the sweet spot. I do find that I use the vmax v2 more often than the v1 just because of the types of juice I vape.
I am probably the only VMax user that uses an AVA atomizer... high price atty, and very decent priced VMax. That's because i don't exactly know why i bought the VMax; I use only hh357's and AVA's (over the rebuildables Gen/Ody), and mostly LR's. I just couldn't resist seeing for myself what the VMax was all about; and I am impressed with the build quality.
Lucky for me I was having trouble figuring out the AVA atomizer... the VMax is the only PV that will bring it to life. It's 1.7 LR AVA, and vaping at 3.5v on the V2.
Very cool.

Freddie, the unit in your pic is not the same as the unit in Dirkbongo's pic.
The VMAX mods that we have now are NOT the ones SMOKTECH originally were going to put out! EVERYTHING is ALL picture right now and I am going by what was given to me to try out! The BOX says STAINLESS STEEL, BUT in NO WAY, SHAPE, or FORM is it SAINLESS STEEL!

What i really don't get is the lack of a any kind of manual... i know there are videos from smart guys who know what's up, but you'd think with all the codes, there would be a user manual or list of codes and all....

btw what is F1? i just got that.

Usually indicates a short/atty problem. Try another to see if it goes away. Taking batteries out and putting them back in sometimes clears it too.

Users guide:

VV- Power up
VD- Power down
SO- Power on/off
VC- Battery Check
DS - display information setting
*do- atomizer output voltage
*dv- battery output voltage
*dR - atomizer ohm
LO- LED on/off

Power Adjust Up:

1. Press the button 3 times in a row until "1.VV" is shown on the display.
2. When VV is shown on the display, leave the button idle for 2 seconds. The display will change to show the last voltage selected.
3. Once the voltage is displayed, each time you press the button the voltage will advance to the next higher setting: 3.1,3.2,3.3 etc. When you reach 6.0, it will rotate back to 3.0 and go up again.
4. When you have reached the desired setting, leave the button idle for 2 seconds. The setting will be saved and VV will resume normal operation.

Power Adjust Down:

1. Press the button 4 times in a row until "2.VD" is shown on the display .
2. When VD is shown on the display , leave the button idle for 2 seconds. The display will change to show the last voltage selected.
4. Once the voltage is displayed, each time you press the button the voltage will advance to the next lower setting: 5.9,5.8,5.7 etc. When you reach 3.0, it will rotate back to 6.0 and go up again.
4. when you have reached the desired setting, leave the button idle for 2 second. The setting will be saved and VV will resume normal operation.

Power On/Off:

1. Press the button 5 times in a row until "3.SO" is shown on the display.
2. When SO is shown on the display, leave the button idle for 2 seconds. The display will show the last setting, on or off .
4. Each time you press the button the display will toggle between on/off.
4. When you have reached the desired setting, leave the button idle for 2 seconds. If you selected "OF" the VV will go into standby mode.

Battery Check:

1. Press the button 6 times in a row until "4.VC" is shown on the display.
2. When VC is shown on the display, leave the button idle for 2 seconds, the digital display will show your battery voltage measurement.
3. The battery voltage will be displayed for 2 seconds, then the display will turn off.

Display Information Setting During Vaping:

1. Press the button 7 times in a row until "5.DS" is shown on the display,
2. When DS is shown on the display, leave the button for 2 seconds, the display will show the current setting: DO, DV or DR.
3. Each time you press the button, the setting will toggle among "DO" "DV" or "DR" ,
4. When "DO" is chosen, leave the button idle for 2 seconds, the setting will be saved and the display will show your atomizer working output voltage during your vaping;
5. When "DV" is chosen, leave the button idle for 2 second, the setting will be saved and the display will show your battery voltage during your vaping.
6. When "DR" is chosen, leave the button idle for 2 seconds, the setting will be saved and the display will show your atomizer resistance during your vaping.

LED On/Off

1. Press the button 8 times in a row until "6.LO" is shown on the display.
2. When LO is shown on the display, leave the button idle for 2 seconds, the display will show the current setting: ON/OFF .
3. Each time you press the button, the setting will toggle between on/off.
4. When you have reached the desired setting, leave the button idle for 2 seconds. The setting will be saved and VV will resume normal operation.

Short Circuit Protection:

The display will show the below error code when there is a short circuit:

1. F1: resistance for the heating coil of cartomizer is bigger than 0.5R, or smaller than 1.3R

2. F2: resistance for the heating coil of cartomizer is smaller than 0.5R

You might also want to try wiggling/pulling the post on your atty/carto. I've been successful at clearing f1's with 2 different heads this way.

The new style versions aren't available and the only copies with anyone other than Smok are samples.

The steel are only available in the new style, the old style are chrome plated brass/copper.
Smoktech has two distinct listings - one for chrome and the other for stainless steel - the version pictured in the box is a chrome version. Sent out in the wrong box maybe?

Incidentally the Voltmeter is still red in the steels - I was kind of hoping they were blue...

I posted this in the new members forum, just in case you haven't seen it -

Vmax in stainless steel;

I have one on it's way to me as we speak..or shall I say....as I type.lol

Tip#1 CCV has the VMAX in ALL 3 finishes ,B,S,C... and S.S. on the way right now. Their doing a great price on them with GOOD IMR batteries included and a discounted price on a 2nd set if you opt for them and ofcourse FREE shipping.

**AND CCV's COME WITH USER MANUALS**
I spoke with a rep at Smoktech about the manuals...I really liked his answer "we were trying to do our part at saving paper and trees for our enviroment and offer the manual online in form of a pdf file. After hearing about the people on the ecf and other forums complaining about the lack of user manuals we went ahead and included them in the future units" Now I kinda wonder what they think of us as Americans kinda being thoughtless to the enviroment. If we don't have trees we won't continue to live...period. Anyway....food for thought folks. Take care. .....J
