Smoktech Vmax Owners - tips, tricks and quirks

Is the button stuck or is the display allways on with that version?

The display on my SS version only light up, when you push the fire button.

After some inspection I've discovered that the board slides into the sleeve, if there isn't any glue on the front of the board and the screen cover is removed, you may be able to slide the whole thing out without having to re-solder anything.
You'd literally just be swapping the ego head with the 510 head, obviously you'd have to pop the top cap with damaging the solder on the atty connections, which is difficult because the wires are very short.

I remember reading that someone had seen the board on the Vmax and wasn't impressed.
I completely disagree as there's some very nice engineering here;

The button appears to be the same as the Ego.

The display stays lit for a couple of seconds after you change the voltage.

For DirkBongo: How much clearance is there between top edge of the board and the bottom of center post where positive wire is soldered? This repair really interests me as I can picture myself doing it some day.

There's space under the board too, if you look up the Vmax you can see the wire floating around.

I know man, I have no use for it though. I want that blue display in non ego ss vmax. I'll put the red display back into the ego vmax for back up. I figure it's got to be pretty easy and i'm not too worried about warranty

That thing could be dipped in epoxy if you ask me,make it whatever-proof

Could also be easy to switch to a yellow or purple display for a couple bucks while at it !

Well you can request to be added, add yourself and they will approve/deny. Really its a group for owners to discuss mods/tips&tricks/ideas/fixes/quirks, I apologize I was under the impression you had one. I dont know if you need to have one to join, I didnt exactly post a pic or proof to join.

This thread has some excellent info. I can definitely vouch its a great apv for the current model(v3 or v4) and current price(<90).

Got my MV SS VMAX today. This thing produces some pretty serious vapor. Seems like a pretty solid device. Love the features it has too.This thing is amazing

Sidenote.....1 of the best devices I've had the pleasure of testing recently is the young june "chrome V2" . This devices finish and weight alone says extremely nice,it must be triple-dippied in chrome to get the weight, high sheen mirror-like finish and extreemely deep luster value that the chrome has, I was very impressed right from the start. It uses a boosted PWM circuitry. The 1 I've tested the amperage limits I've got so far range from 3.8-4.1 amps (depending on all the factors ofcourse..battery charge, Ω's,etc...). All in all, I've been using this device for 2 weeks now along with my VMAX's and so far I am really really liking this thing. It's got the eGo type connector top so stardusts (which I've never really been a fan of till now) fit and look like their coming right out of the top of it with flush lines, ""so far"" a very nice very solid device. Oh yeah..as far as DC capability...I ran a 1.5Ω DC carto at 6v and all I can say is ......I don't really recommend doing this as it put the fear of God in me and my lungs...obviously their is NO auto-de-tuning like the V1 LT does when you put ANY LR atty on it and it goes to a anemic 3.52 volts and you can't help but laugh. Anyway, until you find the VMAX your hunting for for the price this is a really nice V V device, Im really glad I have 1. ....So far.......???

VMAX (V1) end cap would not stay on and the unit was slow to turn off. DAB NAB IT!

Here's how it went down.

I got one of the first VMax's on the market in Austin TX, from Courtney the owner of All About Vapor (AAV) in Round Rock TX, at the April '12 Central Texas Meetup.

My wife in her enthusiasm bought two VMaxes and gave me one as a gift.
I loved the way it worked. She did not.

Three weeks later AAV bought back the unused VMax. Wow that alone is worthy of a positive write up.

Yesterday the end cap started falling off the bottom of my VMax, version one.
Today when I went to AAV to buy our favorite juices I told the woman mixing my juice what happened to my VMax.
She went to the owner and came out 2 minutes later with a chrome and satin VMax, latest version, and asked me which I wanted to replace the VMax I had been using for over three months.

I took the satin one.

It works significantly better than the one that I brought in.

I mentioned that I was floored at how easy I was treated and that it was hard to find any retailer that stood behind their products the way that AAV does. Kenny, an employee, said that the VMax has a one year guarantee and that AAV honors all warranties, period.
