I cut a small piece of Caliber brand binder pocket (document holder) and roll it and slip in there. I did it to insulate the tube from the outside of battery can. They are thin, colored transparent plastic available in the school supply/office section.

... it SHOULD be safe to make a paper sleeve. But I would definitely avoid using any kind of metallic decorative paper .. that MIGHT cause a short (not sure how that would happen ... but, it FEELS like asking for trouble).

:2c:

That type of wrap is not metallic - it has a paper back and I have tested it with an ohm meter; not conductive - sheesh. Guess I shouldn't have said foil and metallic; it only looks like it.

Thanks for the tips guys. I used permanent marker on my batteries but a tiny bit of juice on your fingers smudges it.

I have to say that I adore this zmax. It makes a rebuildable atty a breeze. My a7 came in the mail yesterday and with a ss wick the taste, vapor production, and throat hit is astonishing. I used to think the 901 was the flavor king but this atty blows it out of the water. It seems that no matter how much I torch the ss wick it'll short if it touches the walls of the atty, but with the zmax it's no big deal because it won't fire. Just adjust it a bit and away you go.

There really isn't that much of a risk of shorting the battery if you're using something metallic. You don't need to cover the whole battery, just about an inch of it, so whatever you use to wrap the battery with shouldn't be close enough to the ends of the battery for it to be an issue. Even if something metallic was touching the bottom of the battery terminal, and then touched the inside wall of the tube, there won't be an issue because the entire PV is used as the negative battery wire.

The only way to short your battery, is if you had something metal wrapped around the battery, and it touches the positive battery terminal. I guess if whatever you are using isn't secure, and can move around this is possible, but with anything that's actually taped/glued/etc to the battery should be fine.

I was planning on using some of that metallic tape you get from the auto shops. I don't really know what it's called or used for, but it comes in little rolls, and is actually a thin piece of aluminum foil with adhesive on the one side. Sadly the stuff is too thick so the battery wouldn't fit in the tube.

So I just used electrical tape. Looks fine to me now, although I'd still prefer the one without the holes in the side.

I agree, after all, the sides of the tube are metal! As long as its tight, not the full length of the battery and doesn't slide around up into the circuit board. But mine are strictly metallic-looking paper.

After about a month of heavy use with my v2 zmax have run into a few issues, all dealing with build quality. The screen cover is cracked for one. This happened when it fell over on the table it was sitting on. The pcb has gotten loose inside it, from time to time the screen cover starts to pop out a bit, and the button becomes wobbly. It still works, but the long durability doesn't look good...

Do you have a warranty Morandir? I have a 6 month warranty from the vendor with my v2. So far mine has held up well with heavy use and some accidental dropping. I think the Segelei clone is built sturdier though, from looking at pbusardos review.

OK just got the zmax today had a lavatube of all my attys and a DC tank that fit the lava tube fine only 1 a joye fits the zmax
The others just are to small like the zmax has a larger opening or something can't figure it out. All fit the lava tube even the joye

These were standard 510. From various vendors

Anybody know why this is ?.

Is under warranty Ms. Kiwivap, thinking of sending it back. Bought it to truly put it through the wringer to test it's durability though (along with everything else). It's my back-up back-up mod, so if it dies no real biggy...

Glad to hear its under warranty. Mine has held up very well. Accidentally knocked it off the coffee table this evening but its ok. I haven't dropped it on concrete or driven over it or anything. I don't know how some people manage to drive over their pvs... Do they lay on the driveway vaping and then leave them there?
Thanks for the update. Be nice if it you can get it fixed if you want to.

No. Is it a Smoktech Zmax or a Sigelei? I have two Smoktech Zmax's and all my 510 stuff fits very well.

It is a smoktech zmax. And visually. The thread look the same but if I rub them with my finger the joye has a rough feel
Like the threads are deeper cut. The others are smoother. Some of these attys barely catch the threads. Almost can pull them straight out without screwing them out and they wobble around in the thread hole. And you would think the joy e must be bigger and it would be hard to twist on to the lava tube which has no problem with any atty but no the joye is not
Harder to screw on to lava tube this zmax seems very particular about the threading you would think a 510 atty is a 510 atty not the case here

It looks as if this thread needs a little action so I will see what I can do about it.
I got this Oddy clone a couple of days ago, I certainly wouldn't have minded getting the real McCoy but that just wasn't the case.
I highly recommend this device, genuine or clone, as I have been using nothing else since receiving it and I have many to choose from and I am pretty demanding when it come to atomizer performance. Setup with 3.0 ohm coil of 32awg nichrome wrapped on 3mm silica.
I'm really liking the juice control. I am now spoiled, I totally lost interest with all my other atomizers.

Something to think about for all you rebuildable users. The center post of the zmax seems to be made of a soft metal. My Phoenix clone is tearing it up, so a 510 to 510 adapter is something you guys might want to consider.

In the first few weeks of vape'n I spun the positive connector in my Ego's around with some Stardusts until the connecting wire inside broke off. I did it to two of them in one day.
