Healthcabin in China (a decent vendor) has these for $39!
VV and VW for that amount of money is quite amazing - especially when it's accurate for all intents and purposes.

Dirk. I've got one coming. Couldn't resist the price and stocked up on other supplies to use the ECF08 discount code. So the mod was $35.88 plus my share of the shipping (split order with my brother). According to mfr site it is changeable from RMS to AVG but not sure if this is the version HC is selling. I will report back on how well it works after I get it and play with it a while. Should ship Monday or Tuesday by EMS. If it works well I'll be very happy, as it only cost me about 1/3 what I paid for my ZMax v1.

I agree with SG, based on what you just described nofa....a V2 doesn't have the same programming. Menu 2 is only for decreasing the W or V, not increasing it.

I've not yet experienced ANY kind of mis-fire whatsoever on my SS V2.

I still don't see where it says Zmax v2 anywhere on the electronic-cigz site. It looks exactly like the coop zmax in my hand.

SHEK what's the deal - are we talking about the a v2 with the OLED screen available to buy now or just calling the updated board with RMS on 8th menu option the v2 like the coops?

oh and i think the misfire happened to me once the first day. I just figured I was pressing the button too damn fast and might have fired if I had ohm or battery check selected but it was firing longer than normal. i think i just started hitting the button again and didnt have to unscrew the carto

8th menu is v2. OLED is a copy, not an authentic ZMax so it is rev nothing.

makes sense. then it's safe to say i like this zmax v2 better than the provari. the provari doesn't feel sturdier, it feels HEAVIER, which is a downside for me. Also, the menu is easier. not having to click the button 6 or 7 times to access it helps. I don't find myself frustrated from cycling the menu over and over when ADD kicks in and I forget what I was doing like on the provari. If i pass up the menu option I get back to it quickly on the zmax. Also the 510 threading allows enough space for attachments with air holes above the threading not to be sealed off. And finally, I'm guaranteed to drop it on a regular basis so it shouldn't be long before I know whether it is going to break.

another question - this zmax adjusts W in .5 increments but I've seen product descriptions saying .1 increments. is the v1 adjustable by .1 or something?

On both v1 and v2 in VV mode the voltage can be changed in .1 volt increments. When in VW mode both versions adjust the wattage setting in .5 watt increments.

I believe you can set voltage by .1 increments, but wattage only by .5 increments ... that's the way it is on my v2 Zmax.

--- EDIT --- Jackbox beat me to it!

Reports are starting to come in from people that have received the VAMO mod for sale by HC and some European sites. It has been confirmed it has the RMS function (default is AVG) and one guy who received his says it feels solid and the OLED screen looks very nice. For the price, if it holds up to use, it is a good mod at a very low price.

I must agree. I use it for about a week and I love it. One thing: in 18650 mode the DC/DC converter is not that effective meaning it cannot boost up the volts when the battery gets under 3.7-3.8 volts. The best is to use with two 18350 when the PWM is working from 8.4 volts and the DC/DC is not needed. So if you plan to buy one, buy the extension cap and some good batteries!

Hi all. I've been interested in this mod since it came out, but decided to wait a bit as I heard an SS version was coming (I've had some bad experiences with Chinese chrome!). Then the measurement issue came up, so I waited again. Finally got the SS V2 a few days ago, so I can move from long time lurker on this thread to contributor:)
First off - many thanks for all the useful stuff I've found on this thread! From my so far limited experience I am very impressed with this mod - it seems solid, well made and well finished. I started off comparing it to the Provari and as far as I can tell the readings using RMS are pretty accurate - just as all the test data has shown. I have had no problems at all with it so far and I have been using it quite a lot. I've found it teams up really well with a GP Spheroid which is one of my favourite current devices.
The only thing I would mention is that I am glad I got the extension cap with it - I'm not planning on stacking batteries in it, but I've found it makes it easier to get even standard size 18650's in - using the normal cap is a bit of a squeeze.

I received my Zmax V2 today and here is my first thought about it.
The short cap and the extended cap both have the long spring, my chrome v1 short cap came with a short spring, I will fix that later.
If I change from stacked 18350's to 18650 and do it fast enough that the memory is held it doesn't fire but displays "LOU".
After reducing wattage setting it fires for a moment at the higher setting.
They fixed the threads problem nicely, fit and finish is much improved.
Regarding 8th menu, works as they say it does.
Pretty nice but I will probably continue using my Vmax v1 as my workhorse.
Do I like it, yes, this is how it should have been done the first time but then it wouldn't have generated all the buzz about being "beastly"

Additional: The body and battery cap is magnetic but the 510 end appears to be of a higher grade stainless as it is not magnetic. I thought it might be plated brass but that is not the case, I'm impressed.
I won't be wearing those threads out like I eventually do with the 510 shorty's.

I pulled battery out of tube and if its magnetic its hard to tell for me.
The sping end cap i can pull it across the desk with magnet but i took spring out and i could not pull cap at all with the magnet. Seems the spring itself was making this happen and the spring is very attracted to the magnet alone.

The standard end cap and the extended end cap have same size spring in mine, i may go to hardware store with the spring and see if i can find same diameter spring and cut it to fit height wise with my button top efests as im current using the extended cap.
The flat top efest's i have fit better than the button tops in the standard cap but i will feel more comfortable using them in the standard cap after a trip to the hardware store tomorrow.
With the extended cap there is no pressure exerted when i screw it down with the button tops and will try to get the same with the standard cap and the flat tops batteries i have .

Easy way would be to just use my dremel cut off wheel and make the original spring shorter but as cheap as the springs are i'll just play around with a new one and keep the original one in the z-box it came in.
