When the ZMax displays 0.0o it is a short. It means 0 ohms (which is a short). If it is open it displays 9.9o for too high a resistance.
I agree , you got it right on the 9.9o for open but shorted should be WSC as Dieseler posted

Anybody wish to share their preferences?
Like what Watt setting do you like for LR, SR coil/atomizers?
What Voltage setting for LR, SR coil atomizers?

I find this SS Zmax, with the 8th function, like the Vmax hits much harder than "normal".
I mean I have mine set at 6W with an LR atomizer and I bet I could go down more and still vape the heck out of it.

Just curious, because I was using up to about 9.5 -10w on some LR atomizers with another device, but no way on the Z.

go to 8th option and there are two modes it looks like ans and nea the ans (but really is rms and ner)is the accurate mode while the ner mode is the beast mod as some call it .It sounds like you have it set to ner

With the RMS function ON, I vape at 9 watts with both LR or SR Boge's. It also depends on your ejuice and what you prefer. With some juices I vape at 10 watts..

I seen a new test done on a Osc scope on the V2 and it is actually more accurate under a load stacked.... this was the results from last nights Vape Team Live show..

VPLive Vape Team Episode #47: One Year with the Vape Team - YouTube

Here's the link.. hope this isnt a repeat post, did not have to time to read all the prior posts

As much as I love my SS Zmax, the one thing that was a bit of a let down is its range in terms of handling low ohms. Below 1.3ohms is when it gives up. I wish it could handle lower. By contrast my SMOK gripper handles down to 1.2ohms and sometimes 1.1 ohms. Sure I could just easily use higher ohm attys but I use my various genesis attys (namely my AC9 and DID) and although I usually do a 5/4 wrap which meters in about 1.5/1.7ohms, the nature of ss wick/coil means it will at times drip below 1.2ohms. oh well.

I just don't unerstand how people vape at such high wattages or voltages. I've got an AcryliMax, and on standard attys and cartos (2-3ohms) and stock Vivi Novas (2.4ohm head) with the I simply can't vape anything higher than about 4.5watts or about 4.7 volts without it tasting like charred old gym shoes.

And before I switched to vaping, I smoked Camels, premium cigars (Partagas Cameroons, La Gloria Cubana Series R's and Fuente Hemmingways) and pipe tobacco--mainly REALLY sweet black cavendish blends and custom blends with Latakia and Perique. I'm no stranger to strong flavor, but either these high wattage/voltage settings are just WAY more than I can take as a new vaper, or the calibration on my AcryliMax is off by about 50%....

The calibration of the AcryliMax is the same as the ZMAX V1 and, hence, is way off. Your 4.7 watt setting is probably actually closer to 9 watts. Fazed had an excellent and thorough review of the device using a bench oscilloscope.

I have the VMax V2 and vape at 7.5 W and I really don't care if that is actually 7 W or 10 W. It is where I like to vape and no matter what I put on it it vapes the same. That is all I care about and I really like it.

FWIW, everything I've seen about the V2 indicates that it is very accurate if set to "ANS". I look forward to having one; hopefully in the not too distant future.

What I posted is what the display shows when the device is set to display resistance when you hit the fire button. Here is a photo of it with no atty attached (not a good photo but you can see it is displaying 9.9o).

Yes with no atty on it will display that number and your absolutely right.
For example my vv gripper displays that (9.9) on its oled display with no atty attached when i press it for ohm display.
