While he has had a storied career, the 1979 animated series was what caught my attention.

Fantastic, pulpy, and serialized, the first season really provided what I wanted out of my Saturday morning cartoons. The second season, though, with the inclusion of a smarty-pants dragon named Gremlin, was an early example of a network tinkering too much with a good thing.

But then came the campy feature film...

...and, oh, that theme song by Queen!
