Just so everyone is clear on this important point: You use fry-oil more than once. It is actually better the 2nd time used. It is way too pricey to
buy a gallon of oil and use it once. I keep mine clean for "potatoes only" for a while, then use it for other stuff (particularly with spices and/or breading...like chicken) then discard after another few frys. YMMV
It's really a winter activity. Because, at least in Bear's case, the oil is stored next to the meatloaf....with a good cover to prevent squirrel/critter problems in his garage.
I don't use the fryer as much as I could, maybe use it a bit more than I should. It's been a month...I'd better toss the old stuff...come to think of it. Spring/summer is on the way. Looking forward to lighter fare.
