i finally got the back up utility to run - seems it got a ways to go. i shall take my nap in the meanwhile and hope the back up proceeds smoothly!

while the toshiba in drive e now shows a back up folder with 12gb i can't open it. get the message

never mind - i looked it up
apparently, i'd have to be signed on as an admin to get there and, as said before, i don't want to switch accounts atm in case i run into a problem signing back on with the limited account. that's were all my files, folders, cookies, etc are

If you weren't an admin account, did the backup get a full backup?

nope! i will not switch accounts until a replacement is here! if i lose access i can't hang out anymore!
and i tried the sfc /scannow as an admin and had the devil of a time logging back on as a limited account

SFC is system file checker. That's a good tool, but not what I'm after right now. I want to check the disk's file system and see if there are corruptions.

On (almost) the 26th anniversary of the deck, Husbear mentioned what MIGHT be done differently if/when the deck needs to be euthanized. I kind of like his idea, but the $$$s dance through my head. I still have the west AND north sides of the house perimeter to re-hardscape and am looking at $(2013+2014)+ in terms of cost... easily.
Head spins. Wine is not helping.
I'm hoping another 4 or 5 years on the current deck/gazebo.

it could be a corrupted profile or file but i suspect worse - i had umpteen restore points and system restore could not use a single one.

Too much weight (wood). It tore away from the house and went down about 6 inches. The outer edge stayed thank goodness cause it supports the end of the roof. Weren't for bad luck wouldn't have any.
